  1. So was this the position move that Gary on S&B leaked and then Damon told Shane to cut that segment?
  2. Angus McClure is who I thought Sharpe mentioned quickly on air this morning. Would be a great hire IMO if true. EDIT - will need to go back through the podcasts, 2nd or 3rd segment to be sure but that is who I thought I heard him say. Benning told the producer to cut the info about Wilhite moving into Brasfield's role out of the podcast because it wasn't suppose to be public knowledge yet. Neither Sharp or Benning said who the next DL coach would be. They did, however, make it seem like the position was all but filled, though. Thanks for the info. I was wondering what happened to segment 8. I podcast and didn't get a chance to hear what got cut.
  3. No disrespect to the kid, but WHAT!? He's a freshman in high school and already had that many D1 offers? That's pretty amazing... and kind of absurd at the same time.
  4. There are things leading me to believe that he picks us, but I've been lead astray recently. I'm still pretty confident on this one. Lots more connection to the coaching staff and indicators that point our way. GBR!
  5. Unless he created multiple alternate endings !!! I'm pretty sure I saw in an interview with him that he did in fact make multiple alternate endings for Nebraska, Arizona, ASUDidn't he also say in this interview that the school he picked already knows? And not so long ago, we canceled the visit for Devron Davis. I think those two birds of information point in our favor. I'm like 90% confident on Mr. Jackson.
  6. I'm hoping this is just a visit to appease mom that he looked locally.
  7. I don't know that we missed. I think what we are asking our tight ends to be able to do did not fit Bubak. Heck, he was a projected TE. Great athlete, but no idea how he translates to D1 competition in a position he's never played. As far as Fant is concerned, I don't think the previous staff did any favors in his recruitment that could be carried over to the new staff. Not saying they poisoned the well with him and his family, just that he envisioned his recruitment going a different way which opened up other teams to him for recruitment.
  8. Too bad this is the only side of the story we will get to hear. Do you think this situation might get brought up at the Husker Recruiting lunch that the University is having after signing day? Or will not comment on this?
  9. I put the blame right on this staff. He said from the start if someone would have returned his call in the first month of the hire when he was trying to make contact he would have been a Husker. He never wanted to be a Husker that bad. The staff has more than tried to make up for that.... If I was wanting to go to Nebraska, I wouldn't let a lack of initial contact stop me. Not if it's what I REALLY wanted. Sharp and Benning have intimated a few times that there seems to be a disconnect between the Omaha Metro area and their level of excitement to play for Nebraska. I grew up in Lincoln and wanted to play for only Nebraska. I think the sentiment is similar throughout the state. Maybe the influence of the doesn't have as much pull in Omaha as it used to. Another problem is you have more options as a player now that were unthinkable just a few years ago. Kids can go win a championship up north of us and get college paid for.
  10. In regards to Iowa and the season they had, there is another side of that coin. Iowa has consistently had a good season every few years. That is how Ferentz got the contract he did. That and he was hand picked by Fry. His records have run in cycles. Let's just take a look at the last 11 seasons: 2005:7-5 2006:6-7 2007:6-6 2008:9-4 2009:11-2 2010:8-5 2011:7-6 2012:4-8 2013:8-5 2014:7-6 2015:12-2 Now granted, they may not dip down to the level of 2012, but I think they are a lot closer to their 2013 season. Now if Ferentz has done a good job selling them that he has fixed his issues with the up and down season, then it might have a lot of pull. I guess I'm just really hoping that this history is taken into account when making his decision. It's like Iowa learned how to speak Latin and I'm Doc Holiday .
  11. It's been stated several times that from the very beginning this recruit and the process to get him was botched. I think there is blame to go around on both this staff and the previous. I'm pretty disappointed that we can't keep the top recruits in our state, but we did get some of the top recruits from other states. My problem is that with some with instate kids, sometimes, they come with their own internal motivation to be great and we are missing out on them (DeLuca, Stick, Urzendowski, Phillips, Lewis, Ott). Instate kids can also come with added pressure too so it cuts both ways. Best of luck Mr. Fant in all except against Nebraska.
  12. I'm going to first say that I in no way know all of the backstory for the Hammonds. What I have read is that their arson defense was that they were setting back fires to stop the spread of an already existing wild fire. They claim that by burning the acres on government managed land, they prevented the fire from spreading to their homes and land. They also claim that their actions helped contain the fire. I have no access to see if these statements are factual. The one thing that I know to be factual is that a controlled burn of grazing land does in fact have a beneficial outcome on new growth because it burns off dead foliage. Thus depositing nutrients into the topsoil and encouraging new growth. I know that sounds like a "duh" statement; if you burn the old stuff, new stuff will grow in its place. The new growth thrives more than range land that hasn't been burned. If you want an example and are around the Lincoln area, there the "Nine Mile Prairie" just north of Air Park. They have sections that are burned and sections left alone. This all being said. I believe the Bundy's were looking for an opportunity inject themselves in a relevant topic. They wanted a situation were the cause they were affixing themselves to could have a sympathetic spin. I'm sure there were other land disputes that have occurred but didn't have the parameters they were looking for. The Hammond's themselves have stated that they are not affiliated with the Bundy's and should not be viewed spokesmen for their situation. If the above defense is the truth, then I think 5 years is a bit harsh. If the sentences are reduced, then the Bundy boys and their friends will claim victory. They will spin it like they went up against the overreaching government they so loathe and won. My hope is that someone (on either side of this) with intermittent sleep, frazzled nerves, and elevated stress levels doesn't make a poor decision with their finger on a trigger.
  13. Just noticed verizon now charging extra to keep my unlimited data. That's so nice of them since I turned down their incentive based nudging before.

If you have unlimited data, why use WiFi? I think I have figured out a work around. I'll present it to them and see what they say. I'll lose my unlimited data, but after a month with another carrier with no contact, I'm eligible for a switching bonus of up to $1300.

That was to those of us who lost unlimited data.

  14. Made a trip in to Lincoln yesterday to see SW: The Force Awakens on the Ultrascreen. Checked fandango for seats and had plenty of options. Grab lunch at Watering Hole and am back 25 minutes before show starts and sold out. Yeesh, for a 1pm on a Tuesday.

  15. I'm a little worried the refs might be instructed on how to officiate this game. How much does the B1G miss out on if they don't have a team make the playoff? $3 million? Not that I've ever seen an officiating crew help get a team get to the national championship.
  16. NO EYE CONTACT, NO CROSSING STREAMS, NO TOUCHING. Those are the rules in a MFM threeway.
  17. For some reason I cannot see the LPD dragging their feet on this just to appease the football team. The cover up is almost always more egregious than the actual crime. Usually more people are at risk if there is a cover up and the cover ups almost always come out. I'm not sure why the prosecution would be waiting on DNA evidence to charge if both parties admit there was sex, rape or no. If the prosecution believes they have enough evidence to charge, then I would believe they would. With the discussion on the alcohol and consent, I'm going to be as delicate as I can. As a man, you have to think about if had happened to you. You got drunk at a party. Things seem really fuzzy the next morning. You are a little "sore". You good with what happened to you? Are you going to chalk it up to "Man I got really s-faced last night and something bad happened to me. I won't be doing that again."? Are you excited to go tell the authorities what was done to you? Of course not. You are going to be pissed you were violated and probably a little embarrassed.
  18. So OWH took it upon themselves to be TMZ? Reporting on celebrity news? I get it. It's going to drive readers and clicks. Also I see your point about getting in front of the story because bad news beating you home is never good. I just think if they wanted to report it, there had to have been a way to do so with minimal collateral damage. Like many have stated, these household residents are now tied to this regardless of level of involvement. I have to agree here. They shouldn't have reported it until they found out that one of those players is involved. Also, now everyone knows their address. Who cares if they know their address? I don't get why people think these players should be protected. The OWH reported the facts as to what happened. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm not arguing the facts of what was reported. They are only reporting on it because it occurred at a players home. The only reason they care is because again, it drives revenue. The ethical question is at what cost? I doubt there is some altruistic motive to raise awareness about on campus sexual assault by using this incident as a springboard. If someone gets accused and charged, then by all means, report their name. If not, you are creating guilt by association in the public eye regardless of involvement.

  20. Which is why no one's name should be released until someone has been charged. Once it was released that this was reported at TA's house, there was probably a 99.9% chance that eventually a rumor would be started that TA is the one being investigated. I don't know about in the Omaha market, but I watched a few of the news stations from Lincoln and out state Nebraska and I didn't see them do a story on this. Are the Lincoln stations showing restraint as to not start the rumor mill from churning out stories? OWH decided to take it upon themselves and report the address where the assault occurred, who lives there, and contact one of said residents to get a quote from them about the situation. I'm not even saying TA,JW, or TF aren't involved somehow. Those individuals are now tied to this incident regardless. The OWH seems like they wanted to be first to report rather than be right on the story. If OWH does turn out to be right and one of the players was involved, congratulations. You gambled with some young mens' reputation and won. If not, you're and a$$h*!@.
  21. ESPN game summary says they were at the 41, so a 58 yard field goal. Their kicker's career long was 49 yards and he has never attempted anything over 50. Their kicker looked pretty good in warm ups, but if he hadn't attempted a 50+ FG before, a hail mary attempt probably would have been their best bet then (assuming :01 remained). MSU didn't show much of a deep threat most of the game - I think I like our odds in that case. With our pass defense? I'm glad he threw it away with no time left. Heh. Yeah, me too. It was nice to see that we had some pressure on Cook that play - his pocket was collapsing which seemed to be a factor causing him to hold on to it longer than he wanted to. We did collapse the pocket on him at the end. He actually lost control of the ball and almost fumbled. That's why he needed to regather to throw it away.
  22. No exact reasons, but I think Rose-Ivey might be grades related. Banker mentioned that he needs to take care of stuff off the field, when they were discussing how Rose-Ivey didn't earn a Blackshirt. Who was given his Blackshirt.? Or was one given out that he would have probably gotten. GBR!!! Kevin Williams received one even though he isn't a starter SHHHHHHHHHH! Not so loud with that one. Oh wait, he's not a back up. That's what he said.
