      If it is an at-will employee the boss can do what he wants. You run into problems when there is an employment contract or if the position is provided by the government and Constitutional rights get involved

      been there done that, in fact i absolutely love firing some of the worthless people that have worked for me and yes i always wait until the end of their shift and call them in. if they are allowed to quit at anytime then we are allowed to fire them at any time. some people are just worthless workers.
