  1. Drawing it out doesn't sound very good. He's going to make his decision on signing day because that's exactly how long it's going to take for him to weigh all the information he has and make that decision.
  2. Anyone got any videos on him? I know that there were some up before but they seem to have been taken down.
  3. That's the biggest knock on Griffin, too much OU and Texas. His 10 moments had Vince's run 1, Crabtree's catch 2, Williams superman leap 3, and then Crouch's catch at 4. Tell me how the Williams leap was a bigger moment? Texas still had to drive 98 yards on a defense that'd stopped them all game. Crouch's catch pretty much gave Crouch the Heisman and probably vaulted Nebraska to the BCS championship game.
  4. Really think that the offense we saw in '08 is the offense we will strive too be every year. Next year I see the running game and Wildcat take the place of all those short throws that Ganz did with Swift and Peterson. Biggest problems with the offense this year were o-line depth/injury problems and inconsistent WR and QB play. Our No. 1 was too inconsistent and out no. 2 and 3 dropped off a cliff and by the time we brought in new players to replace them we went to our vanilla offense. This has been hashed and rehashed but as long as our O-line stays healthy, our WRs don't drop passes, and our QBs can be somewhat accurate against the top flight teams. I see our offense not having the same problems we had this year because of the amount of experience we are returning.
  5. If we get him I very much see us using him in a similar situation that we used Barry Turner when he was a freshman, a rush end during obvious passing situations. I can definitely see him producing 5+ sacks next year in limited playing time. From everything we've seen from all the comments coming in, he seems like he wants to come to Nebraska (seen in how many positive things he's said), but other things are keeping him from making his decision. His closeness to his mom and staying close to her being the biggest reasons he hasn't decided on coming to Nebraska. Add to that our defensive coaches are by far the best out of his final 3, and it's hard to see him not coming. But I'm not really confident about it.
  6. I think Swift brought Murtha with him. IIRC Swift committed early in the process, Murtha was committed to Minnesota, went on a trip with Swift to Nebraska, and committed then.
  7. Boise's slow balling Nebraska for a two and one. In fact here's an article from huskerextra that expands on that and also adds input in how Nebraska is scheduling it's games. http://www.huskerextra.com/articles/2010/01/17/football/doc4b525e997772a459155338.txt
  8. Only time he got really beat by Jeffcoat would be the last play of his video. He really didn't do good against Powell in the couple times that they showed him against Powell, but that's a video for Powell and not Westerman so it's understandable.
  9. What our offense seems to need is a QB who can hit the short routes with good accuracy (at least gives the receivers a chance to make the play) and keep their own mistakes down. While accuracy down the field isn't a must, they'd need to be able to at least hit the receivers with regularity. Add to that the ability to run the Zone read. I really think what we did during the Holiday Bowl is what Watson wants to do with the offense. In fact outside of running the Wildcat more, I don't think there was too much of a difference between '08s offense and that game (we just ran a little more). Have that and a productive O-line and I think our offense can be competent. Carnes at least has the running part down, and he looks like he's a great shifty athlete, as opposed to Green's straight forward running. A great get no matter.
  10. Does SC have a good Safety recruit this year? Cause I don't think there's that big a difference between what the Pelini's could do with what Monte could do with a DB. I'd like him to come but I'm not holding my breath, we still have a number of Frosh/Soph DBs that could be able to jump in after next year and play at a high level. I'd absolutely love for him to come to NU, but it's not really at a position where we absolutely need.
  11. If he's able to match some of his previous marks I think he's got a very good chance at being drafted. I think the World Herald had an article on him that said he ran a 4.46 forty (electronic), and a sub 4 cone drill (at least I think it was the cone drill), add to that around a 35 inch vertical and he has some impressive enough numbers to at least get looked at. I'm really hoping he gets in somewhere with a legitimate shot at getting on a team. Hell I'd really like him on the Vikings, Safety position hasn't really been stellar this year.
  12. If there is ever going to be a playoff, it needs to keep at least some of the bowl system alive. I think probably the best thing could be a plus 1 system where if you have more than 2 teams that are undefeated at the end of the BCS bowls that those teams play one more game to decide the winner. How many times has a team with a legitimate shot at winning the NC not played in the game? All I can think of is the '04 Auburn team that went undefeated. Now there have been teams that have gotten into the championship game under unreasonable circumstances ('01 Nebraska), but usually the teams that actually deserved to win did win. While the BCS isn't the best possible system, they generally get things right and get the right teams into the championship game. Now they just need to figure out how to get everyone a chance at the pie, which probably won't happen until the poll voters start to vote the mid-majors high in the early polls. I very much want Boise to run the table next year, because if they do and they don't get into the championship game, then things will not stay the same because the only possible explanation would be that they play in weak conference. But that doesn't really ride well seeing how they've done in previous BCS games. Having the Rose Bowl have a requirement to take a non-AQ team if either the Big-10 or Pac-10 send a representative to the NC game is a step up, now they have to do that with every BCS bowl.
  13. I see the only bad thing about being the coach at Nebraska being the weather, but that is no worse than the rest of the midwest teams. Nebraska has a lot of funds that go through the football program (I think it was the 4th richest the last time they gaged these things, which was recently), and the coaches generally get a couple years before the fan base turns on them, and that's only if they lose more than they win. I'd like to be a coach at Nebraska because it's hard to think of a better culture that surrounds the program.
  14. In obvious running downs next year, is there a possibility of moving Crick to End and having Steinkuhler and Moore or whoever take up the middle? I'm just saying that Crick can move like an end with his size. Maybe it gives us better run stopping power (not that we needed much this year).
  15. Nebraska now officially become the number 1 ranked scoring defense.
  16. They're getting it into their heads that what happened in the Big XII championship was a fluke because they don't want to go into the Championship Game acknowledging that they aren't really good. I see no problem with that, because of confidence levels. Just after the game acknowledge that Nebraska's D-line was better than Alabama's.
  17. I think what we did in the Holiday Bowl is exactly what Nebraska wants to do with it's offense. The Zone Read with a good smattering of straight ahead power running. There's been too many injuries and too little depth at the o-line to not take a wait and see approach.
  18. Florida Tennessee is probably going to get the nod. Urban is going to come back from his leave in August, so I think there's going to be plenty of time for them to bring up the Urban/Lane feud. I'd rather have Gameday come for the NU/Texas game than a relatively meaningless game with Washington.
  19. I don't have a problem with NU and other BCS conference schools scheduling lower tier non-BCS, just as long as they schedule someone who's going to be in the top 25 to counteract that. But you're right that they shouldn't be playing any FCS teams unless they are top tier (you know the Montanas, Appalachian States, and Richmonds). Nebraska's schedule next year came about because that would've been the last year on Callahan's contract and Pederson thought he needed some layups to guarantee he got another contract. But after next year I really don't see a problem with Nebraska's schedule in 2011 and beyond. I know we got a 2 and 1 deals with Fresno State and Wyoming (who's a middle of the road MWC team, the best non-BCS conference). We also have a traditional power on the schedule for at least the next 6 years, no problem there.
  20. Nice to see some clarification from the NFL, now here's hoping that College people do the same thing.
  21. There's also the fact that having him be uncomfortable for a while will ultimately help out his chances to get a big enough pay day in the NFL to be able to help out the family even more. Out of all of his final 5, Nebraska has the best D-Line coaches and by far the best defense. The only downside will be the fact that there's a lot of competition at DE and he might not get a chance to play, but if he's as good as we're expecting, then he shouldn't have any problems.
  22. Does this game legitimize Boise's year? They definitely proved that they were the better team, but do you put them at #2 when the final poll comes out? I think you do, while Florida had a great game against Cinncy, they played a team who's style has been proven to do bad against the best competition. Add to the fact that I really don't want the SEC to go 1 2 this year if Alabama wins the NC game. Man here's to wishing if something like this year happens again in the future (2 non-AQ teams with undefeated teams) they don't put them in the same game and put them against teams that will make the games mean something and not be a kiddie table bowl.
  23. Maybe Locker wants to go back to improve his own game? Right now isn't he mostly being projected as a top 10 pick because of his potential? He has a really good Coach at UW to help him develop his skills further, no point in him not going back to make himself more likely to succeed at the next level.
  24. SEC and Big XII are the two best, Pac 10 and Big 10 second, ACC third tier, Big East and Mountain West are in the last tier. Because no matter how good there top 4 teams are (TCU, BYU, AFA, and Utah) the rest of the conference just doesn't cut it with the rest. It's been pointed out that the Big East needs to lose it's Automatic Qualifier, but I think instead of that they should give the Mountain West on of the at-large spots. It seems like the past few years that at least one Mountain West team has made a run at the BCS, and I think at least one team was in the 10-20 range or better. Give the Mountain West an Automatic Qualifying spot and it'll be easier for Boise to jump into the BCS yearly without too much whining like what happened this year with TCU and Boise where if Nebraska won the Big XII there was a good chance the Boise wouldn't have been invited.
  25. I don't think that there would be too much of difference if Nebraska had beaten Texas and we'd have played either team. Watching both offenses Moore (BSU's QB) and Dalton (TCU's QB) have both looked jittery. Moore can't hit a pass over 10 yards unless the guy is WIDE open and Dalton is just playing bad. One thing is that Nebraska's defense is way more physical and it seems Nebraska has a faster defense than both TCU and BSU. Overall the game hasn't impressed me so far with the only points coming off of an easy pick 6.
