  1. f#*k you and your reviews. Just kicked a guy out of his last game for making a great play
  2. Those statistics are totally meaningless... they mean nothing. Iowa scored 2 touchdowns on 7 plays in the third quarter. And they won the game. Those are the statistics that matter. Jeez... Read much?
  3. I learned that a team that gains 250 yards of offense and goes 0 for 9 on 3rd down is 'steady and solid' according to the media. I also learned that when a team fumbles 3 times, with another nullified by an unrelated penalty, it's 'mistake-free' execution
  4. I'll bet this is an issue every weekend at every college in America. Drunk girl sleeps with drunk guy. Hung over girl regrets her decision in the morning. In 99.9% of the cases she simply makes the walk of shame back to her dorm room. But 0.1% of the time she blames the guy and accuses him of rape. Was it rape? I dunno. Maybe yes, maybe no. It would depend on the facts. It would be a tough call if she was drunk and seemingly gave consent, but then later it turned out she was too drunk to remember what happened. (Was she too drunk to give consent?) I'm not saying this is what happened. But I suspect this scene plays out quite often on every college campus in the land. It does. The vast majority of them are never charged. It requires the guy to say something really stupid. Like I don't know what happened or I was black out myself or sleep walking. If the accuser then says she remembers refusing you are DOA. Rape kits are always done. However those are very misleading, as normal intercourse always leads to some vaginal tearing according to the Scandinavian sexual research institute. Rape kits are only really useful when the offender is unknown or a denial that the sex happened. Usually most paper thin sexual assaults just lead to a good once over questioning of the alleged perp and filed under not enough to charge. Absent bruising significant tearing etc. However I have worked in Iowa City in this area and yes, this happens numerous times every weekend. The vast majority like 99.9% are never reported and not an actual offense. Boyfriend girlfriend two people out on a date, usually never reported or charged. Where you see this reported is some guy finding a woman passed out at a party usually a total stranger or someone who has tried to get with them prior that they have turned down. Edit: Read some of Elfs comments <face-palm> liked Moirannes response and others. False rape allegations generally do not happen and if they do they usually dissolve quickly claiming rape is still taboo in our society and the victims are put through a lot of scrutiny and embarrassment. They do seem to happen more frequently when a sports star is involved. Anyone remember the 03' season when KState was playing in a BCS Bowl? A woman claimed to be sexually assaulted by El Roberson only to get him suspended from half the game. Then, as soon as the game was over she dropped the charges. Or, how about the Eagle, CO deal involving Kobe Bryant where the one claiming rape had three different semen specimens found in her underwear. We've got a pretty big game coming up. I'm not implying anything here, but high profile players do tend to make great targets. Perhaps they SEEM to happen more frequently because you are a sports fan and that is where your focus is. You just cited 2 incidents in the past 12 years. And there was actually only one specimen found in the Kobe case. Interesting that you make an implication right after saying that you're not implying anything. Call me crazy, but I don't see how a young woman benefits from this situation, unless she is planning on suing the university. I think if the police are investigating a sexual assault, it might be possible to refrain from condemning the accused as well as 'implying' the alleged victim is a gold-digging whore before knowing the facts.
  5. Right. Just like the wind in Illinois caused us to throw less. It should, that's for sure.

False rape allegations generally do not happen and if they do they usually dissolve quickly claiming rape is still taboo in our society and the victims are put through a lot of scrutiny and embarrassment. This is what is always fascinating to me. The idea that girls regularly regret hook-ups, so they claim rape. In my experience existing on Earth around females, I've heard an alarming number of rape stories....women drugged, assaulted while passed out, ex-boyfriends breaking into their homes and violating them, etc. Know how many of them reported these incidents? Zero. Why? Lots of reasons, but mostly because the situation was so awful they'd sooner forget it than have everyone in their life knowing they are a victim. Are some people so screwed up in the head that they would rather move forward with a rape accusation than admit they made a poor, consensual choice? Yes..without a doubt. But I believe there are many, many more legit assaults that go unreported.
  7. That's not what McKewon is saying. McKewon has been in Riley's corner and has said that Riley's approach (build trust through remaining positive) takes a long-term investment approach. The only issue is that Riley and his staff are making the hole deeper for themselves. To me, Riley is in over his head and he hasn't ever had to been in a place where wins and losses mean so much. It is certainly a big picture article, and he is not calling for Riley to be fired...but he does say this, with which I agree.. Like most of you, the Banker hire was a huge let down and a red flag for me. Riley, more than anyone else, knows Banker and what to expect from his defenses...and he brought him here. We should be looking for a new DC at a minimum at year's end, but Riley won't be doing that. Riley is who is because of decisions like that. He presumably had the option to open up the checkbook and attract some innovative coordinators. Maybe the clash of personalities would be a challenge, but getting the talented minds in a room together should make everyone better. I mean, the mantra on Riley is how positive and easy to work with he is, so he's a perfect candidate to lead a room full of coaching egos to relevancy. Instead....he hires the guys he's 'comfortable' with. I wonder if, when he handed out assistant jobs to his friends , he thought about how that comfort level might change when he loses more than he wins in Lincoln....which is not Corvallis in terms of College Football landscape. Throw in Langsdorf being allowed to flat out fail on the job as he learns, Cavanaugh trotting out the same 5 guys over and over to the tune of 2.2 yards a carry, and Stewart's dead last pass defense contribution......I mean...if you're a CEO of a company and these are the guys you've hand picked to run the operation...how safe can you, SHOULD YOU feel in your position? I haven't been one to call for Riley's job, and until I wrote this post, I thought I was willing to give him some time...but the early returns are so discouraging. I don't want him fired, I guess. Not yet. I suppose I'm just reserved to watching this slow moving rain cloud settle over the team for a couple years, minimum. And then starting over again.
  8. Moral victories, so cool..... Not a moral victory, but an improvement over the past. We did beat Wisconsin once under Pelini. No fan of Bo at this point. Just the facts

  10. I think you misunderstood. It's possible. I think my only point was that if youre not sure you could ever walk out of a stadium early...that day would have been a test of your resolve. But maybe you were there too..and stayed.
  11. I went to school in Boulder and I was in the stadium for the 'end of an era' game against the Buffs in '01. 35 - 3....gaping holes every time CU ran the ball. I was among the Buff faithful in my blood red coat. I left at the half. Went home. Didn't turn on the radio or TV the rest of the day. I've turned the TV off before...but for those that say you can't exactly walk out on a game when you're in the stadium..I respectfully disagree.
  12. I would think if there were some gems in that class, we would've seen them in the 4 seasons they had prior to Solich being fired (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003). It was a bad class, and there was no excuse for it. Nebraska was an elite program at the time, coming off of a campaign in 1999 where they were arguably the best team in the nation. It's a compelling article because in this world of ranking recruits before they set foot on a field (which dominates this time of year), he is looking at the bottom line results. I don't think it should upset anyone....except Solich apologists.
  13. Yes, because that's the kind of stuff we never hear about. Guys being drunk idiots at off campus parties.
  14. Maybe give him a shot at TE or WR. He's so raw, it'd be silly to say he really has a natural position after one year of football
  15. And the one he lost seemed committed to Bo and seems easily wowed by names and slide of hand tricks that harbaugh pulls. I think Riley will win most head to head battles if the parents get a good say in their son's college choice What is 'slide of hand'? Seems an inappropriate reference.
  16. I'm a member on a couple of sites for local teams in my area. Huskerboard is FAR AND AWAY the best site as far as moderators go. I think the 'douche' criteria for them is about perfect. I've been to some forums that are utter wastelands in terms of the poor taste and outright venom of the posters, and I've been to other sites where it is pretty much run like a preschool class ('you hurt Timmy's feelings. Say you're sorry or go in timeout'). This place is my preferred site to share and read opinions.
  17. Where does it say where each player stands heading into next season?
  18. Just my supposition here, but I think the real difference between Nebraska being a consistent player in conference has everything to do with how our linemen are developed. I would argue that our skill players are as athletic as Ohio St's, however we have an offensive line that hasn't gotten out of its own way in a decade. There is no reason why this should be. We don't necessarily need the 5* players littered on the OL. The best linemen we've had in the past 5 years was a walk on, and that's not uncommon. In reality, we should be Wisconsin, but with better skill players because we recruit better than them. As far as defensive line, I'm really confused here. We have undoubtedly one of the best DLs talentwise in the nation (top 20). We have been led to believe that we play a scheme that limits explosive plays by being less aggressive in terms of getting upfield......and yet we STILL give up as many big plays as pretty much anyone in the nation. I think if we have an upgrade in position coaching across the board, and recruiting stays on par....we're looking at some much better years ahead.
  19. Zac Taylor was probably the toughest quarterback (physically and mentally) we've had here since I've been a fan. We never had a good O line and he took some vicious hits. Eyes were always downfield though, and he stood tall. IMO, he's the only reason the wheels didn't fall off on the Callahan train sooner.
  20. Jim Harbaugh went to Michigan. Urban Meyer went to Ohio State. In my opinion, the alma mater card was the tipping point for both of these guys. Money certainly must be right, but I don't think Harbaugh would've gone just anywhere, and same for Meyer. If any of you can name a hot name proven head coach that just happens to be a Nebraska alum, let me know, and I'll join you in crucifying the administration for being cheap.
  21. probably the most connected. He was the only one at the final players meeting. Or maybe they severed ties once Bo found Kaz's 'tape recorder' as it's being referred to.
  22. I actually believe the opposite. Gerry is very fast. I think anytime you find your safety in the 'open field' against a speedy wideout, it's not ideal, regardless of the safety. I think he struggles at times in run support, but he'll improve IMO.
  23. minus the "injuries", drops, grandstanding and multitude of other things that come with "football kenny". DPE > Bell...count me in the camp that's happy to see him go. a couple years ago I certainly never thought I'd say that. Totally! I'm not usually someone that believes in questioning a college player when he says he's injured, but in this case, I definitely see where you're coming from. jk. This is the dumbest thing I've read for awhile. Congrats.
  24. Please tell us more about the meeting room. Yes! Please???
