  1. I mean that friend must not watch college football at all then. It would be pretty hard to not know anything about Martinez and watch cfb.
  2. I don't think looking for a proven p5 coach is necessary or realistic. There are way more examples of hiring lower level head coaches or coordinators. You just have to get lucky and pick the right one. That being said I would take Aranda and/or his OC.
  3. Yeah this announcer is just as bad as last game. What a f#&%ing douche that has no idea what he is talking about.
  4. Assuming you mean to say Joe Brady, he is getting fast tracked like crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a NFL HC soon so he might hold out for that. I wonder which is the easier gig for a young coach? NFL you can really just load up on coordinators and don't have to worry about recruiting. I see people mention Freeze a lot and I think it's the same deal as Chadwell. I think his next job will be a SEC HC because he's just a southern guy. He def is a good coach and a shady recruiter. I'm down for someone that pushes the rules in recruiting but I doubt he would come here.
  5. I think its a good point and definitely proved out with Iowa, but I still think there is some validity to adding in more context through advanced stats.
  6. Cincinnati and Oregon are playing great football for sure. Iowa is probably winning due to a lot of luck on turnovers, one QB injury, and just playing bad teams. I doubt their luck holds up all year even though they still wont play anyone good.
  7. Middle Tennessee State must be dominating if they are 4th in the country in turnover margin.
  8. Well don't forget also 2 WRs that are pro bowl calibre NFL players, and a RB that was a really solid NFL starter year 1. Also a defense loaded with NFL talent. Fulton and Queen are both really good NFL starters. It's pretty rare to see that kind of actual NFL talent on one team.
  9. I think on the surface 3 wins out of the last 5 to me would show improvement, but will still depend on how we look in the games also. If we win at least 3 with a win over Iowa I will be super happy. Id trade a loss to any other team reaming for a win over Iowa.
  10. He also has something else Martinez lacks in game winning drives, and thats blocking. All of those last drives he was standing in the pocket all day. I would really like to see his average time to throw on those final drives last night because it really seemed like he took a full 3 seconds minimum before throwing.
  11. Meh id rather not have coaches that covered up for sexual assaults.
  12. The PI was terrible. The non review on their 50 yd pass that set them up in the red zone. The first they were spotted on their TD drive before half that would have kept the clock running. I tried to look and see the chop block on Jurgens and couldn't tell what they called that for. This wasn't quite as bad but was the closest a game has felt like the A&M games in terms of ref interference.
  13. I can't remember what game, maybe Fordham, where they were short on 3rd down but got spotted the 1st. Then frost called a time out and they go to commercial but still never review the play
  14. You know not to go too tin foil hate but they were super quick to initiate that review in the MSU game where it was a pretty clear legal lateral by Martinez. I feel like we rarely get a play reviewed and if we do it takes until the last possible second.
  15. Come on guys clearly the guy from the irrelevant state right next to Nebraska has the pulse on what the nation thinks about our sellout streak and is completely unbiased in their evaluation.
  16. I think if he beats NW, Minnesota, and Purdue then he just has to get two more wins out of the other 4 and not get blown out and fans will be pretty high going into the offseason. People will still want some staff movement though.
  17. Really sux to have a player like that dragging our team down.
  18. We just forget to send a punter out and nobody notices. They hike the ball to no one, defense picks the ball up and walks in for a TD.
  19. Agree to disagree on this one. At least the xanax can be prescribed by an actual licensed medical professional.
  20. Yeah for sure. I wasnt trying to debate the efficacy, just that I can see why it makes sense.
  21. I think Scott hopes that as well. Thus the system of rewarding good practice habits with playing time.
  22. After seeing how much people were on here sucking Minnesota and Tanner Morgan's d!(k during that OSU game I'm expecting to come in here and only see positivity.
  23. I didnt realize the rules in college were different. NFL seems to have all those plays without blocking downfield though. You can still block for screens without blocking way down field while before the ball is caught.
  24. No you can't block 7 yards down field before a pass is caught just because it's thrown behind the line.
