  1. It will be interesting how the back end of the season goes for the Buckeyes. To even be considered to be as good as the '71 Huskers, they would need to win from here on out at an impressive rate.
  2. In the past I would say that is true, but on the defensive side of the ball OSU has changed their system and it has made them a lot better than last year. Talent can't always overcome a bad system. Look at the splits from last year to this year for OSU on defense. Different coaches, different system. So no, it isn't just talent, you need a good system and talent.

    NFL 2019

That doesn't mean that Rudolph shouldn't get in trouble (fine and/or suspension). This is very typical Steelers. They always act like they are the victims when they start crap. It gets old and one reason why I don't care for the NFL all that much.
  4. Maybe this article isn't for Nebraska fans but more for college football fans in general? When I see articles about my team in a national publication, it usually isn't anything new, but it is for others.
  5. I don't feel as if Nebraska just needed to offer him a scholarship and he would have been Nebraska bound. I don't remember hearing that at all at the time. Maybe he would have went to Nebraska, but they still would have needed to hold of OSU and others. https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football-recruiting/2014/05/35883/athens-ohio-2015-qb-joe-burrow-commits-ohio-state https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football-recruiting/2014/04/34873/athens-ohio-2015-qb-joe-burrow-getting-buckeye-interest
  6. They were worried they wouldn't have him earlier in the year against Florida Atlantic, Cincinnati, Indiana...etc. so they waited to suspend him until later in the year with the possibility of missing more than the next two games. Seems logical, but I understand your thought process.
  7. I do love over generalizations as much as the next guy, but please do me a favor and don't judge the state, or me for that matter, by the actions Browns fans. They can be an interesting lot.
  8. I don't know if I am impressed with his enthusiastic disdain for Ohio State, and I guess the rest of the state, or the fact that he rolled in a Steubenville reference into his post. Well done!
  9. The only way OSU will have to vacate wins is if they knew about it and still played him.
  10. It was good while it lasted.

@jaws I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA thinks they are in an uncomfortable spot.  However, they shouldn't be.  At the time he took the money, it was against the rules.  Thousands of other athletes abided by the rules and didn't take money.  If he gets caught...unfortunately for your team, it should be punished appropriately.

@BigRedBuster I agree. I don't know how many athletes have stayed 100% clean but the rules are the rules. I just hope the punishment fits the "crime".

Tricky spot for Chase Young...does he decide to come back?  Outside of the opportunity to play for a national title there is absolutely no reason for him to come back.  He's a top 5 pick guaranteed.  If I were him, I'd need to explore what the insurance market looks like in case he pulls a Jaylon Smith.  I remember when Ifo Ekpre-Olomu from Oregon got hurt before the Rose Bowl his senior year (he came back despite having a 1st round grade) and he cost himself tens of millions.

  11. I highly doubt that Urban Meyer is going to FSU. It seems like the administration isn't very good and he isn't going to go into a situation where there isn't stability. If USC hires Cincy's AD, I also doubt they pull in Urban. I think the smart move in LA would be to find an AD that Urban has worked with and hire him first.
  12. All is well. Even with the weather and the drops, they really did play a good overall game. OSU's defense is really something to see right now.
  13. I understand what you were saying. I brought up Purdue and iowa because if OSU won those game, the B1G would have had a playoff qualifier those years. I don't see why you can't connect the dots.
  14. If that is the case, OSU needed the refs to help them at Purdue and Iowa over the past couple years. Don't sound like a Michigan fan, be better than that.
  15. It isn't that easy. Coaching plays a big role in developing talent, even 4 and 5 star talent. Just take OSU's defense for example and compare this year vs last year. Larry Johnson is still doing his thing developing the line but the overall scheme has changed with the new coordinators. The changes have helped OSU tremendously this year.
  16. I just don't understand this thread. OSU can pull the top talent out of Texas, but Nebraska somehow can't because they are in the Big10? OSU's success over the past 8 years was built on kids from Texas. I assume that Nebraska should be able to do the same thing and it has nothing to do with conference affiliation.
  17. I don't think many people realized how much hiring Mattison and Washington away from Michigan has helped OSU on defense this year. That was a cold blooded move that hurt Michigan and helped OSU (nothing better than that). Hiring Jeff Hafley was also a strong move. Urban was not willing to hand over the defense to Grinch last year when he allowed Schiano to come back, and that hurt OSU's chances at the playoffs last year. Another move that has paid off is hiring Hartline to coach the WRs. He is obviously a lot better (coach and human) than the turd that was the WR coach before him. So far Day has been pushing all the right buttons. Saying all that, I don't think it matters who has the "best coaching staff". As an OSU fan, I would take OSU's staff any day of the week, but that is for OSU. Frost just fits at Nebraska and I am not sure he would be the best fit at OSU.
  18. Winning cures a lot of problems. However, even on a message board for a top 5 team, people still find a reason to complain.
  19. How many schools actually want to be in the Big12? When conference realignment talk happens, it isn't like big time schools are lining up to join that conference. You usually hear about schools exploring other options. I guess there are smaller schools wanting in a P5 conference that would jump at the chance. I understand the tradition but I find it hard to bring up tradition when talking about the current iteration of the Big12 conference.
  20. OSU's freshmen usually are not asked to be the main guys on the team. If they are able to, that is great. Look at OSU's Garrett Wilson for example, in time he will be something special at OSU, but at most schools he would be asked to do a lot more. The Huskers need Wan'dale Robinson to perform at a high level for the success of the team. OSU just needs Wilson to progress like Chris Olave did last year and into this year. The Huskers need to build their depth and it will make it easier to develop guys.
  21. I think California wants the tax revenue. I do like how the politicians make it sound like they are doing it for the kids.
  22. After thinking about this game for a few days and hearing all the talk after the game, I have come to this conclusion. By the end of the season we will see that Ohio State probably isn't as great as everyone is saying and Nebraska isn't as bad as some people on this board think they are.
  23. Day looked and sounded normal to me in the presser I saw.
  24. All black uniforms worked out well for purdue and iowa vs OSU the past two years.
