  1. I can agree with this, a lot of farmers around here are struggling more due to poor yields then the what the tariff's will do. But I think the real travesty is the fact that the small time farmer is almost non existent. Farmers feel pressured to farm more land, have bigger equipment, larger yields, etc, etc. This has caused a lot of farmers to go into massive debt in order to buy the necessary equipment, seed, fertilizer, fuel and everything else it takes.
  2. ha ha Redman actually. You know since its organic
  3. My family farms, and I spoke with my dad about this. He was not happy about the tariffs, but he explained it to me that he felt it is what was probably best for out country in the long term in regards fair trade. I tend to listen to my father who always seems to be right (despite me consistently going against his advice) and is a pretty staunch democrat.
  4. I wasn't complaining, just found it funny. I chew myself.
  5. Is it just me, or does it seem like the vast majority of our coaching staff seems to always have a chaw in during practice?
  6. Article says they are "durable-yet breathable". But in all seriousness this is a pretty cool idea.
  7. We are in the CCG We beat tOSU but it’s not that impressive because they implode after Urban gets canned The QB battle isn’t truly settled after this year as both show glimpses of greatness but neither consistent enough to claim the spot Our recruiting class finishes #15
  8. I agree, if Milton only carried the ball 8 times a game on average, and that is in an option system, then that tells me that the "option" is a lot more RPO than triple option style
  9. I think Gebbia would get the start if the game was tomorrow. Last year Milton averaged 30.3 passes per game and 8.1 rushes. To me that would mean that you definitely want to start the better passer, especially if you feel he is at least adequate in the run game. The Qb's job is to run the offense and to distribute the ball. We as Nebraska fans sometimes get too focused on the QB's running ability and get nostalgic with thoughts of Frost, Fraizer, Crouch and all the other great running QB's we had in the past. The game has changed since our heyday and the passing game is much more prevalent. It will be an interesting fall and whoever ends up getting the nod I trust will truly give us our best chance to win. September 1st can't come fast enough!
  10. I still think whoever has a better grasp on the offense and playbook wins the job. Frost has said this before, and we all have hear that Gebbia has been a film junkie since day 1. We have no idea if Martinez is or isn't, if I was going to bet, I think Gebbia starts week 1, but we see a lot of both Qb's and then as the season goes on whoever plays better gets the nod. But it wouldn't surprise me if this QB race goes fairly deep into the season, if not all season.
  11. Am I the only one who is disappointed that maybe our most prolific WR ever seems to have been wasted due to 3 years of HCMR's inept system. Imagine what he could do with another couple years in Frost's offense. He'll never get the chance to play in the offense when it really gets humming
  12. I think this staff is recruiting a specific type of player that fits a system that is very unique. Back when Frost was coaching at Oregon, I don't remember Chip Kelly just absolutely killing it on the recruiting trail, he recruited a very specific type of player, and as the wins started coming and the success became super mainstream, it seemed like then when Oregon offered a player his rankings seemed to go up. I look for the same thing to happen here. If we start winning like we all hope we should, then the kids Frost & Co. offer will be ranked higher because this staff offered them. If Nick Saban offers a 3* RB, you bet your butt that he's going to blow up in the rankings to a 4 or 5* in the next year. Again, I think that kind of thing could happen here
  13. I wish I was as optimistic as you, don't get me wrong when it comes to Coach Scott Frost the kool aid is flowing super hard, however I just think with our extremely tough schedule, and the fact that we are installing a brand new, completely different system than what our kids have been in the last 3 years. Now I know Coach Frost is a stud and our kids will be ready, but there is so much to over come in year 1, idk if we can win enough games and not get upset by someone we shouldn't to get into the top 20.
  14. Totally agree. I don't think it's as sure of a thing that Martinez gets the starting job as it seems most people do. Frost has said that whoever has the best grasp on the offense will be the one who starts. We all have heard how smart and how much of a film room junkie Gebbia is. He's not the athlete Martinez is but if he has a better grasp upstairs then I think its going to be a hell of fight to see who starts, not just game 1, but every game this year.
  15. I know the kids QB's I coach would much rather use a ball that has been practiced with for a few weeks and is nice and broke in, vs one that is practically brand new. New balls tend to have a slick oil on them for awhile
  16. It actually says a rich mans Hakeem Nicks. Which is an analogy I've never heard before, but still it'll be awesome if Stanley can have the kind of season were expecting and he becomes a top 20 pick!
  17. I don't think Gebbia transfer if he isn't the starter come week 1. He is an injury away from playing, and AM has a history of a shoulder injury, so it'd be foolish if he did. Also I could see Gebbia starting and then eventually getting beat out by AM. If that is the case, I could see Gebbia sticking around, and eventually getting drafted due to his potential and this offense "not fitting his pocket passing style".
  18. I think the QB that can truly grasp this offense when it’s not watered down will be the one to start, I think that will be Gebbia. He did have a few bad throws but he looks like the most natural passer, as well as he looked better running then I expected. BUT he will have to be on his A game or Martinez will pass him and never look back. In all honesty it’s great to have this depth and true competition for a position. Guys now they have to come to work everyday or get left behind
  19. I really like sprinters/hurdlers in this offense because they get up to speed in a flash and usually have great top end speed. We don't need guys to make a lot of moves because they are going to get the ball in space, we need guys who once they get the ball, they get up the field in a hurry.
  20. Starling had potential to have been a stud in Pelini's offense. Guy was a pretty darn good runner, both fast and elusive, not T-Mart fast but every bit as fast if not faster than TA. I thought he threw the ball every bit as well as TA did in HS. Guy just seemed to have that mystical "IT Factor".
