  1. "Excellent" is a severe, severe stretch. The injuries have to be taken into account, no question. But, as an overall unit, they were slightly above average at best this season. I'm not sure what line you were watching if you thought they were excellent, because it certainly wasn't Nebraska's. Excellence would be what Stanford and Alabama had throughout the season. In comparison to those programs, Nebraska has a long ways to go. Excellent might be a stretch, but they were easily the best line we've had in a long time. I said the same thing last year, and this unit continues to improve. I can't wait to see it continue to improve with all of the really good OL recruits we have pulled in the past couple recruiting classes. Agreed. Not a top-tier o-line, but they were pretty dang good. Probably the best in 10 years. Improved consistency game to game and the cutdown on penalties were especially promising.
  2. Hope he's okay. LeRoy really played well this year. Could develop into an all-conference type player in the future.
  3. That is some high praise. We have had some great blocking WR. Ross Pilkington was excellent. I would say that Q and Niles are the best that also were game changing pass catchers. Yeah we've had some great blocking wideouts over the years, but Q is a monster. I don't even care about the highlight blocks, he just locks on dudes and grounds them.
  4. Sometimes if you have a good matchup on a deep pattern you just take a chance and trust the receiver, who should have way better ball skills than the defensive back, to make a play. On paper, anytime you have a 1on1 matchup with a guy like Q you take a chance.
  5. One thing you have to consider when evaluating Quincy's career, and is often overlooked for Niles Paul as well, is their blocking. Enunwa is the greatest blocking wide receiver we have ever had.
  6. Not disagreeing with the idea, but GOD NO! I want as little Dilfer stink as possible on the program.
  7. Outside of the pick and a few inaccurate throws late, he was money. Several dropped throws, including an absolute dime that would've been for a touchdown. Unless Stanton is crazy good, Armstrong has got to be your guy. An entire offseason of reps and growing in knowledge of the offense and he could be very good.
  8. So a complete stranger walked into our house from the bar last night and slept on our couch. #Yolo

That happened a couple of times at my place during college, they always mean no harm and are confused as you are.

And yes, bad teams can sometimes beat better teams. It happens. But it's a surprise, just as this is. Even defense optional aTm should be able to stop these guys every now and then. Not to mention prevent onside kicks and blocked punts...

They are looking to end with 11 wins. They do play in a 'power 5' conference, won a division and are in the process of blowing out a top 25 SEC team. WTF does a team have to do to be 'good'?

    4. EbylHusker

      EbylHusker

Right, just like if NU wins their division Big 10, but it's full of bad and average teams, they must be good, right? Like I said, look at their wins and losses. Nothing that even approaches "good." And no top 25 team has ever just laid a total egg in a bowl, right? No, never...not since ASU last night, at least. Durrrr.

  10. Seems to be that d-line rotations are in vogue now. If you have the horses, it can be very effective. The Seattle Seahawks run about 10 guys out there, and they just swarm qbs. The Lions do a good job of it aswell, but they aren't near as strong in the back-end.
  11. That guy is built outta something else aint he. Yeesh.

Guaranteed. He was so mad. Plus he tells everyone he's throwing down 360 jams like nothing, and he probably is, but he goes JV on a layup. Haha

I can do amazing 360 jams also. On my PS3 and my nerf basketball goal lol.

  12. No, no context. I'm sure he was just playing catch. Still, ya never know. Surprised we've never ran a trick play where JT would throw it.
  13. My body is not ready for the NFL playoffs. So many really good teams.

  14. To all the Chiefs fans out there: Do you root for Chase "Booger-Eater" Daniels today?

  15. Don't care about stars, or the Elite 11 for that matter. He was not a very good passer in high school. Doesn't mean he can't improve, and it also doesn't mean he can't be a very good college player despite average arm ability. Decision making, leadership, and timely play making are what put quarterbacks over the top, and I think Johnny can bring that. Tebow's a good comparison, but I think Rex Burkhead at the quarterback position. Nothing that blows you away, but someone who just makes plays that win games. As far as recruiting qbs, I love Darlington, don't think Flowers is best suited at quarterback, and wish we would've given Stick an offer. He's much better than Fyfe (who I saw several times in high school and was really impressed), Kellogg, and Marsh (who we offered a grayshirt if I remember correctly). What are you basing this on? That he didn't throw for a lot of yards? He threw for 2400 yards as a junior in a running offense. His senior year, he was completing 66% of his passes with 11 TDs and 3 INTs before he got hurt. By all accounts, he has been a very accurate passer in practice this year. So I'm left to assume that you're just set on talking him down. Basing it off of what I see. His footwork is terrible, the arm motion is obviously not great, he lacks real zip on anything, and his accuracy is really spotty past about 10 yards. Again, not saying he's going to be terrible, or an ineffective passer. I actually think he could be a really good player, and in this offense you don't have to be anything special as a passer to be effective, i.e. lot's of screens, short passes, easy throws etc. Watch this whole video and tell me outside of maybe 1-2 throws that are bigtime. His final stats are impressive, but about 90% of the yards came from easy 0-10 yard throws with a ton of YAC. http://www.youtube....h?v=FTnUlbss8u4

  17. I just hope Pat doesn't miss any more extra points.
  18. Usually not a huge fan of the different Oregon unis, but these are sick imo:
  19. THE Max Bullough got suspended for MSU's first Rose Bowl in like 20 years. Must've been pretty bad. Either that or Dantonio lays down the law. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10194532/max-bullough-michigan-state-spartans-suspended-miss-rose-bowl

Jeez, I wonder what the commentators will go on and on about as far as "legacy" and "Mr. all everything sparty". Surprised MSU can even field a team without Bullough.

  20. Wonderful frame and great athleticism. Hope we get him.
  21. Words cannot describe the atrocities being posted in this thread. I don't think I have ever seen a single alternate uniform design for Nebraska that was any good. I really think the only good alternates would be throwbacks.
  22. Crazy stat: It took Peyton Manning a full 120 fewer pass attempts to throw 49 TDs in 2004.

Passing game is so much easier for qb's to manipulate today. They have the whole field to work with, and, let's face it, qb's today dont have to make throws under the real pressure that the Youngs, Montanas, Kellys, Elways, and Marinos had to. not to mention there's no reason to fear sending guys over the middle and "hanging them out to dry" anymore. It is lightyears easier to pass now than it was 20 years ago.
