  1. Wishing on a star but a good wish it is.
  2. I have to say I like the idea of hiring Craig Bohl although I don't know a lot about the kind of offense he runs there, will have to do some more research. Things I like: - Proven head coach that can coach a team to championships - Can get players to come play in North Dakota which is mind boggling, may be a good recruiter - Beat Kansas State, the team that won the Big 12 last season - Ex-Nebraska player, would never go off on the fans like Bo did Concerns: - Recently signed a long term deal with NDSU through 2020 The thing I don't like about Frost (and the only thing) is that he has not proven himself as a head coach. But... What if we brought in Craig Bohl as head coach and had Scott Frost as Offensive Coordinator?
  3. This is all about coaching, period. When two teams have equal talent on the field, the score should be close, not 70-31. This loss is all on the coach and his staff, the team was completely unprepared to play. All of the wins this year were due to Nebraska having better players, not due to the coaching. A good coach has the ability to make his players play above their talent level, with Bo, I am seeing the opposite.
  4. Something tells me we are going to see UCLA again in the Rose Bowl. They are leading their division and playing some really good football right now. Oregon State has to play Stanford, Cal and Oregon still which may give UCLA a chance to pass them in the Pac 12 rankings.
  5. Penn State has a much better offense and only a slightly worse defense than Michigan State. Penalties and turnovers on our part will keep Penn State in the game. Nebraska by 3.
  6. Nice win, no doubt, not sure about blackshirts though. I would feel a lot better about the win if Denard had played the entire game and that bench warmer had not come in and played like a high school freshman. I was fully expecting another mobile QB having a feast on our D but they did a good job on him while he was in the game.
  7. Take a look at K-States recruiting (this year and the last five years) and what Bill Snyder has done with 2 and 3 stars and he definitely deserves to be labeled a great coach. Sort of reminds me of what Tom could do with his recruits. I would never say he is better than Tom though, not in a million years. He does have my respect though.
  8. Michigan blasted Purdue 44-13, a team which hung with Ohio State this weekend after Ohio State blasted us two weeks ago. Michigan by 3 TD's. Hope I'm wrong though!
  9. How come no one likes Gary Patterson? I think he has done a remarkable job at TCU, has solid defenses almost every year. Seems to develop the talent he gets very well. Mostly three stars but occasionally can get some four stars, more the school than his recruiting. May end up at Kansas State though when Bill retires.
  10. Run the ball 70 to 80% of the time, no more than one turnover, tackle the opponents ball carrier.
  11. Here's a scary stat: "In their last 11 games Nebraska is 6-5, with three of those wins coming against non-BCS or FCS opponents." If things don't improve fast, Pelini could be in some serious trouble.
  12. A great coach is someone who can get a player to play above his abilities and also play as a team. Tom Osborne was such a coach. Look back at some of those teams he was able to beat during the 90's, teams that were loaded with NFL talent (some of those players will be in the Hall of Fame one day). Tom's teams were not nearly as talented but those players believed that they could beat anyone. I do not see this quality in Bo Pelini. I have watched the Huskers year in and year out since his hiring, waiting for the team to play above its level and defeat a more talented team and have been disappointed these last few years, with the players he has recruited and been unable to motivate to greatness. I think Bo is a good defensive coordinator but not a good head coach. I don't believe he is able to get great talent to want to come to Nebraska because young people see this. I've seen a lot of posts saying we need to bring in a big name, expensive coach. Nebraska does not need to hire a Saban or a Miles to make Nebraska great again. Just look at Urban Meyer as an example; when Florida brought him in, he was a winner at Bowling Green and Utah. There are great young coaches out there, we just need to find the next great Nebraska head coach.
  13. Would anyone want Frank Solich back? He was Tom's pick to replace him and he has been doing a good job at Ohio. Just wondering what some of your thoughts are.
  14. I would take Solich back over Callacrap any day.
  15. I think Bo is a very good defensive coordinator, I just don't believe he is head coaching material. Getting upset by Northwestern didn't even make me all that mad, getting humiliated by Wisconsin and Michigan did. Those blowouts reminded me of the Callahan days. I don't remember Osborne ever being blown out in a conference game, let alone twice in one season. I would like to see the I formation come back to Nebraska. I miss the days of us pounding the other teams defense until they tire out late in the game while keeping our defense fresh. Instead, the current offense goes three and out all the time and can't seem to make a third down conversion if their life depended on it. Offensive linemen, full backs/running backs and mobile quarterbacks would be flocking to come to Nebraska if they knew that we were a mostly running football team again. I just hope Tom can right the ship again.
  16. I'll be able to tell if Nebraska wins or losses this game based on the first Michigan series. If we don't spy Robinson, he is going to kill our defense with his feet and we lose. Hopefully Bo learned from the Northwestern loss that sometimes you have to defend against a running QB. If the past serves as a portents for the future, we are in trouble.
  17. Team has no identity, I am sick and tired of all these different offensive formations. What ever happened to the I? What, you can't run and throw out of that formation or something? All of these changing formations aren't confusing defenses, this isn't high school football. Choose a formation and stick to it, run when they expect a pass and pass when they expect a run, that is what confuses defenses. If the oppossing defense stacks eight men in the box, then pass on every down until they stop. Pretty simple. Against running teams with mobile quarterbacks, this defense does not seem to have any answers. That is more on the coaching than it is the players. This is going to be a problem for the Michigan game.
  18. I think GT does well for the players they recruit. So far this year all they have is 3 star recruits, not a single 4 star. They are not a top ten recruiting school and probably never will be but they do very well with what they get. If a top ten or twenty recruiting school were to run this type of offense I believe Urban Meyer is correct and that it would be extremely difficult to defend.
  19. Blown assignments and missed tackles are the biggest things that need to be fixed, other than that, the defense needs more experience. We lost a lot last year and the youngsters haven't stepped up and filled those shoes yet.
