  1. I wish that had been the case. Maybe then our defense wouldn't look so horrible. Rofl
  2. That's like saying we should have a spy for every team we play. If we need a spy for a non running QB, it just means we suck.Well we do suck. Yep. But having a spy for this QB would be stupid.

  4. It's happened at least 6 times, and not just on forward progress plays. Hopefully it bites NW in the ass and not us.
  5. I think your name is a noticeable misnomer if you're sitting in four seats. I'll be in one of those four seats, my family members get the other three. My name is actually a reflection of my penchant for the fantasy genre, movies, books, etc. It all started back in '77 I think it was when the Lincoln Journal/Star ran the Sword of Shannara comic strip on Sundays. I was hooked the first time I saw that comic strip. I found the book the comic strip was based on and I read it and every other book Terry Brooks put out regarding that world. Then I read J.R.R. Tolkiens Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I've read the entire Wheel of Time series, many of R. A. Salvatore's works and to many others to list. It's a good time.
  6. A pretty good LJS article about Moore. He really has been coming on these past few weeks. Has some nice numbers so far this year. No disrespect, but that helmet makes him look like pac-man. Or that he's ready to go to Mars. Today's helmets are too big for their body's. Run a 4.5 but once the helmet goes on, it's at least 4.9 LOL I guarantee helmet sizes and weights have become less over the years as the technology has gotten better. Just look at the rest of the pads. They get smaller and smaller.
  7. Return of the Jedi has always been my favorite. Luke was just so darn cute in that skintight black outfit. Almost as cute as the ewoks. So cuddly. 8 year old Moiraine was in love. It was honestly the same type of love as I had for the ewoks. If I had been interested in sex at all, the only options were Obi Wan and Han and Lando. Also Leia. Maybe Darth Vader if he kept the mask on.
  8. It is pretty amazing. He dropped passes more consistently than Niles Paul before this season.
  9. I'd honestly rather Iowa win out and we beat them. Then win the championship next year.
  10. What?!We let two punts roll a long ways yesterday, and we fumbled one the prior game. One punt we didn't catch was downed at the one yard line against Minny. Not executing the fundamentals is killing this team. We need DPE with that fearless, I can catch everything and take it to the house, attitude he had last yearyou do realize dpe was staring straight into the sun, right. The ball landed 4 yards behind him and ironically, onto his shadow (if your shadow is behind you that implies the suns in front of you). When dpe returned a punt the other way (not staring into the sun) he returned it for 40+ yards. It is about doing the basics well. Does the baseball team let fly balls go because they lost the ball in the sun. Almost never, yet we do it twice in a single game. The consequences to letting a football touch you and then dropping it are way more devastating than doing the same thing with a fly ball. Especially where our player was on the field. It's almost a certain touchdown for the other team. And the consequences to letting the ball go over your head aren't that bad in football. You're not even comparing apples to oranges here it's more like apples to sardines.
  11. You're comparing apples to oranges. Gangwish is from Nebraska. I couldn't tell you the years and teams of national champions in the 90s. I could only give you an answer that might be pretty close. And I was actually old enough to watch all of them.
  12. Our recruiting classes would be even worse if that were the case. Great facilities is more important, and a little name recognition. Obviously that comes from our history but having a detailed knowledge of our history isn't that important.
  13. But you are counting them. FGs are included if you only have points allowed and TDs allowed. Having FGs allowed in addition to that is giving it too much weight and over penalizing teams that allow a higher proportion of FGs/points than other teams, even if it's actually a good thing. Which shows in the huge discrepancy between Pelini and Riley in that category. Just including the two variables gives the whole picture (unless you want to start getting picky and think about safeties and points scored by the opposing team's defense).
  14. Not if the statistics are biased. I appreciate it, MD3. I'm not sure how numbers can be biased, though, Moi? As I shared above, the method by which I'm assigning rankings has been consistent going back to last year. If I ever really figure something out, as I've shared before, I probably won't be spending time on message boards... Statistics can be biased. I wasn't really speaking about anything you did. It's just a fact. You're not really dealing with statistics (since you have all of the data from the population) until you start attempting to predict things, which is what you just posted about. Anyhow, I don't think field goals allowed should be weighted at all. It's too highly correlated with points allowed. At most you should have TDs and points or FGs and points. Having FGs and TDs and points is redundant. Field goals blocked or missed might be good if there's a team that's especially good at that.
  15. Let's watch all 10 of them in a row this weekend if we lose to Minnesota.
  16. lol. Very few 18 year old males are mature. Same goes for 18 year old females. I'm guessing the ones who join the military mature pretty fast. The ones who join football teams that get as much attention as Nebraska does, probably regress in maturity.
  17. Yes. But they were two different situations. This time we needed to get 1 1st down so we wouldn't have to punt and could run out the clock. The other time we needed to run it once or twice to run out the clock and we even could have gone for it on 4th down to run out more time because we were on their side of the field. It's his job to know when to do which and he did the opposite thing.
  18. I enjoyed the game. Just wanted to post that somewhere.
  19. 13 of the worst coached games in Nebraska football history, Facts are Facts! Callahan/ Cosgrove wasn't near that bad. As for Riley, the Illinois game would not even be a blip on the radar of worst coached games. "Facts" without any context. Every offensive category rose significantly across the nation during Bo's tenure. In the case of the stat used specifically in that chart, the ten highest yards per play averages have occurred during the last ten years. To truly illustrate the point of that chart one must account for offensive inflation. Average at best offensively and sometimes terrible, very, very terrible at defense. Everybody constantly bitched about Watson and Beck. No real progress there I don't see how this reply is relevant to the post it's replying to. He's saying to judge a defense you have to account for the fact that teams are getting more yards (on average, against all teams) than ever before. So lining up a current coach's defensive stats to someone else's from the 90s/80s/70s isn't telling the whole story.
