  1. Most teams lose a bunch of games first year with new staff. Improvement will follow.
  2. Michigan hired Harbaugh and instantly they dont suck anymore.
  3. If it went from 85 to unlimited for example it would help Nebraska. I think money wise we can run with the big dogs.
  4. These guys are gonna SUCCEED!!! Winning! Lookout Harbaugh! We are loaded with NFL assistants and some eager beavers!
  5. Just an FYI Mike Riley has a 2-2 record versus Harbaugh...difference was, he coached OSU and Harbaugh coached Stanford. You do understand that right? Tell us again how Mike Riley is a bad hire? Yeah, man thats whassuppp!!!
  6. The comeback kid (remember when he was with the Colts) was a great hire for M but one has to wonder how many years before its back to the NFL. This hire definitely gives Mich a boost in recruiting, interest, and most likely will result in more wins for them. Riley at NU was not a bad hire though not a splash hire. Time will tell. NU doesnt have a harbaugh out there, I dont think the whole Frost thing is ready, and he may never come back if he likes the west coast.
  7. After what was said I aint so damn sure the school employee shouldnt be fired. This was a big WTF moment.
  8. Joe Gantz should have always started over Keller. Zac Taylor was tougher than a muskrat. And he came up here from Oklahoma which makes me like him more. He had to really put everything he had into those 25 yd outs and he got it done, more often than not after peeling himself out of the turf the play before. To me it seemed like the coaches bailed on Z Lee. He had some great intangibles.
  9. Give him a break. He's mainly only dirty to QB's and theres like at least 11 guys on the field he is decent to, and thats not even counting officials.
  10. The team looked disorganized at crucial times. Barney is 0-1 as HC that sums it up for me.
  11. Tired of being on other teams highlight reel. No moral victories only true victories. OU fans are happy every time we lose. I am not.
  12. While we are on the topic of S&C, I had a couple things. Nebraska used to put out tapes to high school coaches regarding this. They emphasized what was important and what to avoid. This was when the huskers were still at the forefront of such things. There was no throwing ropes or flipping tires. There were guys with a clear objective. And it wasnt core strength or cross training. It was to produce the most powerful explosive, fastest athlete you could. The eyes were on the prize. I fail to see how throwing a rope accomplishes this. My point is I think the HC needs to set clear objectives for the SC program, that ensure explosiveness and speed are emphasized and measureably increased. SC has to be targeted. We arent training marines, or triathletes or second rate football players. We are training HUSKER FOOTBALL players. I hope the new guys get it and keep track of the progress.
  13. Glad he seems popular. Im not going to like him till I see badgers getting pancaked for four quarters. Then gophers etc. And i need to see this for at least three seasons in a row with at least one conference championship. Then I might like the guy. Probly wont be inviting him over for dinner anyway.
  14. Yeah but I really notice in the videos is the blocking.
  15. You wanna be relevant? Get some big wins. Relevance will take care of itself. Northwestern was pretty darned irrelevant till a bunch of nobodies started beating the big boys in 95.
  16. What I love about Roziers counter option run against OU is the blocking! Three or more sooners getting knocked on their tucas' with one flipping through the air! That was a common theme with the old Huskers if you look at the Johnny Rodgers punt returns too you will see crushing blocks and people getting planted on their backsides. Especially the sooners. Is the bouncerooski double pass still legal? "Oh I knew Tom Osborne had something up his sleave!". Hmmm what did Pelini ever have up his sleave?
  17. The best pass that comes to mind was from a game against Colorado. He was in the grasp of a Buffalo defender and still managed to hit Ahman Green on the sideline. I know people will bring up that ISU game but, to my recollection, #15 was never bested on the field by his counterpart (despite having faced Heisman winners). He wasnt just "in the grasp". He was blindsided by an outside linebacker at full speed. Shoulder pads in the ribs. Took the hit, pump faked, held the ball, then let it fly. Start watching at 1:02:07. This play is 2 plays prior to the one being discussed. notice how CU is just starting to ramp up the chippiness, and the next play starts to get even a little rough with Tommie. Not a big Tommie fan off the field, but man, nothin pleases me more than stickin right back to some idiot sh#t talkers. Yes, and when before or after have you seen any QB make that throw? Me neither!
  18. The Huskers have made a ton of great plays over the years. Offense and Defense and Special Teams. You could put together an hour long highlight reel and not cover it all. Tommy's run against Florida was a good run, but to me that run was as much about Floridas piss poor tackling as anything. Tommy always gave 100% they didnt on that play. Tommy had a lot of other great runs and passes.
  19. I am actually wanting to skip to 2016. The first year usually sucks.
  20. I think we are gonna win. Our corners can make a lot of plays and I think we can get some 3/outs. Our running game will be better due to Abdullah being more healthy. All the players are working hard, they know this is an audition for the new staff.
  21. I diskike the product ESPN puts on the screen. Too much emphasis on replays. Excessive review is killing the game.
  22. Man's struggle with self and coon will go on...
  23. It's a reasonable question, but I'll throw it back to you: what were those core set of principles? Are any of them unique to Nebraska, or are they relevant to any successful organization? I don't think they have to be unique to Nebraska to be valuable. Just curious. The closest I can come to a unique "Nebraska Way" is acknowledgement that our college football team means more to an entire state than any other team in the NCAA. But that can be a double-edged sword. I expressly want to state my humility and naiveté before I even begin to presume what the core principles were. As a fan on the outside looking in, they seemed to include Honesty, Constant striving for excellence, not just hard work, but the hardest work, intelligent work, and just pure a** kicking every day in practice to make you and your team better, EVERY DAY. Scheme wise it always included a punishing offensive line. Power Football with very efficient play action pass. Defensively well it was the "Blackshirts" what more do you need to say. That to me was the Nebraska way. No it does not have to be unique to us to be " our way", someone else can do it exactly the same, and it can be their way as well. But that's how we did it. We don't have a patent on anything. Lastly I feel that there are more than one scheme that can be used to win a championship. But the core principles I believe are common to almost all championship teams, except those who are willing to pay $40,000 to a player's father for him to commit.
  24. So are you saying there wasnt a Nebraska way? Can you literally stand in front of those large gleaming trophies that say " National Champions" and not believe that a core set of principles produced that?
