I didn't root for Big 8 teams then, I don't root for them now. 

Getting back to Severe, they haven't said what the exact situation is, but 1620 has made it known that Severe won't be returning and "good luck to his future endeavors".  That type of language makes me think that 1620 didn't want to pay Severe what he's worth, and they couldn't agree on contract terms going forward.  I think Severe had been with Benning for 2+ years now after the OWH dropped The Bottom Line radio show.  My guess is that 1620 jumped at the opportunity to grab Severe in the summer of 2019, gave him a decent contract through this December, and now that contract isn't worth it to 1620.

@B.B. Hemingway I think radio hosts' salaries are dependent on market size and their ratings within that market.  I'm sure the internet, podcasts, and satellite radio have put a dent into the radio business, which puts a dent in the hosts' salaries.  I think some stations can still do very well if they have a strong local following.  I live in Denver, but I listen to The Ticket out of Dallas nearly every day.  I lived in DFW for 2 years over 10 years ago, but I got hooked on their radio station.  They have a great app which I can listen to their station, and I think their radio hosts make pretty good $ (especially, the morning and evening drive time slots).

This status update thread went nuts this morning!!!  

Word is that he's staying in Omaha.  His wife is a Nebraska native, and they have 2 school-age sons, and I think he's grown to like Omaha.  I think he's the best radio guy in the area.  It helps that he's not a Nebraska fan, so he is able to stay impartial.

He hasn't said what he's doing, but this is his last week at 1620.  My guess is that his contract isn't being renewed.  Radio is a tough business.

I bet you will be able to get tickets for free this Saturday.

As much as I am rooting for Hastings, it's hard baseball to watch.  The field is way too small for that age, it has bad home plate umpires, and ESPN produces it to make stories.

I have seen multiple Nebraska games the past few weeks, including Mike Riley coached teams.  There isn't a conspiracy against the Huskers on the BTN.

That looks to be a really nice hotel.  I am looking at bringing my son in for the Purdue game, and that is a great option for a downtown Lincoln hotel.  It's a lot cheaper than the Embassy Suites and other hotels in that area.

OU and Texas are always going to be looking for greener pastures.  That's why NU going back to the Big 12 hasn't made sense.

If you follow Nebraska Athletics on Twitter they have shown plenty of personal logos for their players over the past year.  I am not sure if they are trademarked (I would imagine they are) but NU was ahead of the game on this.  Cam Taylor-Britt shows his "Cam Juice" logo on his Twitter account (see below).

The NU athletic department created a bunch of logos for players last year.  There were logos for Martinez, Cam Taylor-Britt, Wandale Robinson, and others.  This isn't new to NU.

Their tag line was "Serious Husker talk for the serious Husker fan".  There was no joking allowed on that board.  Teach had issues with that policy.

Covid-19 O'clock

The lineup went into a slump all at the same time.  With as many young players (especially freshmen) in the starting lineup that is going to happen from time to time.  The young hitters started out hot, and have hit a cold stretch for a few games.  It looks like they are busting out of their slump in Iowa City today.

It's early, but the baseball team looks to be much improved.  They simply have better players than they have in the past decade or so.  That said, what year-end result would fans be happy with?

Cancer sucks.

And the Big Ten has finally announced a conference baseball schedule. It's about freaking time!  Play will begin on March 4th. 

I honestly wouldn't travel many places, even within the U.S., without being vaccinated.  I know that I'm just as likely to get it here as anywhere else, but I would rather avoid the crowds and unfamiliar places.
