  1. I'm gonna say BYU in 2015, because it really laid a lot of doubt into my head about Riley and his staff and their ability to build a winner at NU. It started from game 1 for me.
  2. I'm not trying to down play Spielman, because it sounds like he had a good game. But, when NU is down 35 at the half, it seems like a lot of empty starts were had.
  3. 200 yard rusher probably means that NU wins that game. Nothing against Speilman, but those are empty stats in a blowout loss.
  4. Exactly right. I'm not delusional and going to say that the talent is there to compete at the top levels, but there is enough talent to be competitive. This team is anything but competitive. Everything I hear from Riley is that he says he needs more years to bring in recruits. How about he coaches the current kids and be competitive in ball games.
  5. Bama has gone to a dual threat QB and they can pretty much whatever they want to.
  6. I'm not insecure at all. Where did I ever say that? It's just ridiculous for anyone to continue to want Riley and his band of merry men to coach this football team. They have no redeeming qualities at this point.
  7. I haven't seen one play, and I'm sure JD gave his all, but that has to be the emptiest record of all time.
  8. I'm not mad. I'm just curious how anyone can still thing Riley and his staff of buffoons are worthy of coaching at Nebraska. Other than "being nice" they don't have one redeeming quality. They are a complete joke and the rest is the Big Ten is laughing at us.
  9. Come on @zoogs give me one good reason why Riley deserves another season. I want to see it!!!
  10. Ran into a guy at the hotel bar last night who had a Nebraska Blackshirts shirt on. I go up to him and asked him if he was from Nebraska fan, and he replied "actually I'm a Hawkeyes fan". I immediately walked away and almost threw up in my mouth.

      Or he answered sarcastically.

Maybe he really was a Husker fan but embarrassed to admit it. Figured he was in Mexico so just pretended to be somebody else.

I don't see the conflict.  Iowa put over 400 yards on the blackshirts last year.  If I was a Hawkeye, I'd be a blackshirt fan too.

  11. Greetings from beautiful Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I may need to watch the Husker game this weekend on my phone, but it's well worth it

We are at the Barcelo Maya.  Great place and a lot of fun, if your fun includes pools, beaches, and booze.

  12. It was from hour 4 on Monday, I think. It was where he started to talk about "is it time to think about a new coach". He went pretty detailed about how guys don't win or improve things significantly by year 3, they basically never will.
  13. I am using the year 3 rule because there is still one constant to the average to poor performance the past 3 years and that is Mike f'ing Riley. And his record the past 3 years at Nebraska is very similar to the last 5 crappy years at Oregon State. The problem starts at the top, and that's your nice grandpa Mike.
  14. Losing to teams like NIU (not Arky State) happens all the time to Riley coached teams. Those losses are unacceptable. 2015 was not a better season than 2016, that's not debateable. Riley again found numerous ways to lose games rather than win them. 2016, he was smarter and actually played to the strengths of the roster. This year, Riley took his offense back to his way, and its a complete train wreck. Again, history has shown that 3 years is the baseline amount of time to know if a coach is going to be successful or not. Riley is in year 3, and he's showing no progress on the field.
  15. What kind of records would you expect from a "solid" group of nice coaches? 7-5 or 8-4 with the top being 9-3 and the expectation of 5-7 and 6-6 seasons mixed in? Congratulations, we are now Oregon State.
  16. I don't get too concerned over blowouts, as long as they don't happen consistently. I do expect NU to be competitive in the Big Ten Wes though, which shouldn't be that hard to achieve, most of the West division is pretty average or worse.
  17. Regarding my original post on the topic, I was pretty drunk and disappointed during the 4th quarter of the Wisconsin game, but the original question is still valid. After the Rutgers and Illinois games, there were many posts saying "If Riley is fired and a new coach is brought in, I hope that Diaco and some of the other defensive staff is retained". I am still not sold on Diaco, as the D seems to be successful against really bad offenses, but really struggles with any good offense.
  18. I am sure he would try to bring his DC with him, but many think that UCF would try to promote the current DC to Head Coach if Frost left for another school.
  19. I think Riley is selling the recruits on "hey, we need you to come in, play right away, and you can be the key to get us winning games, and you are going to play in a NFL system".
  20. Or the female Michael Brady. That should cover the only 2 architects ever shown on TV.
