  1. Two weeks from today I have my next post-op appointment and am hoping to get the good news that I can start walking again.  It's amazing how easy it is to take something like being able to walk for granted.  I had surgery to repair my shattered ankle just over a month ago, and it's been a long month.

Hang in there! I hope you can start putting some weight in that ankle in a couple of weeks!

Good luck, and give it hell!

I was in your shoes (pun intended) exactly a year ago.  Good mobility is a precious gift.  Hang in there.

  2. That's what I mean, though. Anything going on behind the scenes can be done just as easily with the current coaching staff still intact.
  3. I guess if nothing else, the Gates are open wide for another lineman to come in and outplay him. One thing about being a lineman is that you can't be afraid to jump in there and get Nicked up now and then.
  4. There's ultimately zero advantage to getting rid of Riley now. It won't give us a jump on any other school looking for a new coach, because nobody is going to get an interview with a coach who's currently employed elsewhere until the season is over. Now, if Moos wants to have a chat with prospective replacements for Riley behind the scenes, there's nothing saying that can't happen, but if it does (and it likely already is), having Riley on the staff doesn't make any difference at all. Why make the kids play for someone else, likely with zero head coaching experience (or in Diaco's case, with a terrible history as a head coach) for three weeks when it's either going to be no different or worse? Plus, if Moos makes a decision now, that cheapens any possible statement he could make about this program from here on out, because he gave his word that he's not going to make a coaching change during the season. I know the fans are angry, and it's clear at this point that Riley needs to go, but there's absolutely no upside to getting rid of him now. There's already nothing to salvage from this season, so any drastic changes made at this point will hurt far more than they could possibly help.
  5. It's gotten to the point where I'm more angry about seeing our fans on social media complain and personally attack the players/coaches after a loss than I am about the actual outcome of the game.

There are quite a few fans that are out of line and showing their ugly side.  I suspect alcohol is involved in many cases.  Others just live and die with Husker football.

You should have always been at that point.  The negativity and attacks are completely out of line and they help no one.  This board has become a cancer as well.  Disappointing to say the least, as I live away from the state and this was a nice place to come to talk to like minded folks.

       Losing reveals true character.

  6. There really isn't much that can be done for clinical depression that works on a permanent basis, because it's a chemical condition within the brain itself. My wife has tried just about everything, including TMS therapy. The TMS worked great for a month or two, and that was it. Most medications either make her sick or don't work, and the ones that do work only barely work. Clinical depression is a lot like asthma, or any other incurable disease. Yes, you can medicate it to mitigate the symptoms, but you can't make it go away permanently. Believe me, I wish it could be done.
  7. That very much depends on the level of depression that he has to deal with. Making millions of dollars doesn't mean much to anyone if they constantly have the thought implanted in their mind that they, and everyone else, would be better off if they were dead. This is why you see people who seem like they have all the fame and fortune in the world end it all. If it is indeed the case that marijuana is the only thing he's found to help him cope with depression (as I've been lead to believe by a lot of different sources is the case), then it's not something he could ever "kick" unless there's an alternative that he's unaware of that works for him and he tries that instead. Anyone who cares about Randy as a person would much rather see him give up the money and the fame if the road he's on now is what's keeping him from going down another road that he could never possibly come back from.
  8. From what I know of Randy's situation, and from learning a lot about severe clinical depression over the past few years, I don't know if it's as much "addiction" as just simply being the only thing that he has found that helps him cope. I used to be in the same boat as a lot of people, thinking that Randy is an idiot for choosing marijuana over football, but that was before I knew what anxiety and depression do to people. In a way I can see how it could be considered an addiction, but for Randy and a lot of people in his situation it's something that they almost literally can't live without.
  9. Exactly. From what I recall of the times Fant was interviewed, he said he chose Iowa over Nebraska because he felt that it was a better fit academically for him.
  10. Answering this poll would indicate that I endorse the idea of Riley being fired before the season is over, which I don't.
  11. Kaepernick is now planning to file a grievance against the NFL team owners for collusion since none of them want to sign him.  None of them want to sign me either, for the same reason.

Actually, I don't pay much attention to the NFL anymore. The whole thing is too business like with a bunch of overpaid prima donnas. I barely make the time to watch my two favorite teams, Broncos and Packers, play every once in awhile. I watched all of about 5 minutes of the Denver game last night. I used to love the NBA and the NFL. I absolutely can't stand the NBA and the NFL does nothing for me. It's no longer a game played for pride.  There is no loyalty to anything except the mighty dollar.  The NHL is the only professional league I like. So I really don't care about Kaepernick or the NFL. And yes, I do think all of them should be more modest with their views. They play a damn game and get paid obscenely well for it. They should be thankful they don't have to really work for a living.

And I'm not pretending the NFL doesn't put the clamps on controversy when it comes to marketing their product. What responsible business doesn't try to maintain a certain image? I just really don't feel this is anything approaching collusion or even the league putting clamps on controversy. My gut tells me he might be getting a little more opportunity without this issue but I also don't feel it is the thing keeping him off a roster. I sure don't think it's some wide ranging, league mandated blackballing. Maybe the lesson is, if you're a bubble player then you better fly a little straighter and not act like you're indispensable because you are. I would do the exact same thing with hiring decisions in my business. If I had 10 people apply for one job opening and they're all about equal skill and experience but say one has a history of work comp claims, why in the world would I choose the guy that presents a possible liability? That's not collusion, that's just the way life works. It shouldn't shock anybody.

      Yeah...pretending.

  12. That was basically how I felt. Equal parts "who the @$#& is Mike Riley?" and "he's not Bo Pelini, so there's that I guess".
  13. This may have been asked earlier in the thread (thought I saw something along the same lines though I'm not sure how thoroughly it was answered), but other than his proximity to Scott Frost, is there anything else that people like about White as an AD?
  14. I forgot the Huskers played tonight.  Apparently, so did they.

  15. I hope this rumor has some smoke behind it. I've always thought Del Conte would be a pipe dream for us, but I think this would be just what the doctor ordered for the Huskers.
  16. I bet I could go out there and score a rushing TD against Nebraska right now, and I'm laid up on the couch with a broken fibula and multiple ankle fractures.
  17. Guess our offense decided that if the defense could quit, so could they.
  18. Time to hope Wisconsin does what's expected and runs the table from here on out. It's them and Iowa for the West division.
  19. Our defense has packed up and gone home for the night.
  20. They have our defense worn down. This 4th quarter is not gonna be fun...
  21. Terrible time for our defense to take a drive off.
  22. Lee is making smarter decisions with the ball now, but I'm still disappointed that we went away from the run again.
