  3. Thanks for the summary. Are things bleak in Hattiesburg after the loss or are the fans still optimistic? I think it's going to take at least a year or 2 to recover from last season for you guys. Things are certainly optimistic in the Burg right now. Even after the loss to Texas (who, IMO, I think is a very good team) some very good things came out of the defeat. The fire and motivation that usually defines Southern Miss football was evident once again. However, I think you are right that it will take some time to recover from eLLLLLLLLLLLLoss's affect. Our guys played their hearts out Saturday night but could not overcome the avalanche of mistakes (3 fumbles lost on first 3 possessions; 1 more fumble in the 4th quarter and then 2 more INT's in the 4th). Monken will be preaching ball security to the team this week. I think we will come out much more confident this week. As for our fanbase, we lost a good many regular fans attending games. So if we don't win at least one of the next 3 away games, then I can see our attendance dipping to as low as 20k. This is coupled with the fact that we have the worst home schedule we maybe have ever had. The people that do know something about the program and football in general know that we are on our way back up. This game will be a route ---nothing to see here. I hope your players have the exact same mindset. No offense to Southern Miss (or you for that matter), but the way the Wyoming game played out was the worst case scenario for you guys. Your team might have been able to catch us off-guard if we would have beaten Wyoming by 35, but now? I would say the coaches will get our guys' attention, and I would expect a semi-beat down in this one.

  6. I love how ESPN thinks "being tired" is a legitimate excuse for SCs bad defensive play....

yeah...there is...he's not in game shape. They even said before the game that stamina was the knock on him

  7. Wow, I hope this kid decides against playing again. There are a lot of things in life more important then football....God bless ya Zack....
  8. I've seen it referenced on Twitter, but what did Dari from ESPN say about Bo during his segment?

  9. Yeah, you guys would never lose to a 6 or 7 win team like Northwestern, Iowa State or CU. Just in case you guys don't remember, Wyoming is right next door. A lot of us are kind of familiar with Neb and their history. Those are all BCS schools. How does that pertain to Wyoming? Yeah, we only play pee-on schools the past 10 years like Boise St, Utah, BYU and TCU When those 4 schools are who you go to in order to reference your tough schedule, then your schedule is pretty f'n weak.... Compare that too. Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio St., Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Washington, USC, Oklahoma St., Penn St., Wisconsin.... You are easy to laugh at my friend....
  10. Hopefully this says more about Sam and what he's done, and not more about Westerkamp and Moore....

I'm not an Imani Cross fan. He seems like he'd be better suited at FB.

I guess if you dislike getting an extra 2-3 yards added onto virtually every carry because of the RB's strength, I could see how you would not be a fan of Cross...

  13. to the bolded part Brett will speak for himself on Saturday, but that bolded part is wrong There is plenty more wrong with that statement than what you bolded.... The only statement there that I know to be true is that we did see him as a freshman, and we will see him as a junior..... sorry I quit reading after the bolded part. He is a talented quarterback, and like I said will speak for himself on Saturday. He's a nice QB, but anybody predicting that a 4-8 (last year) Wyoming team is going to beat a 10-4 (last year) Nebraska team is crazy. Anything CAN happen, but to predict that? Come on! (I know you didn't, was referring to some of the examples posted by Knappy)....
  14. Someone should tell him not to worry. They have the #2 QB in the country so it all evens out. Wyoming fans are funny.... He shouldn't be scared, because here is how the game is going to play out (according to Wyoming fans): - Taylor fumbles the ball a NCAA record 14 times - Brett Smith throws for 602 yards and 5 touchdowns - Their defense (that ranked 118th last year) will suddenly become the Alabama of the MWC - They will win This game ( as you know) isn't going to be close....
  15. Now it's just a matter of deciding what kind of beer EZ-E owes me. I am a man of my word. However, we aren't even close to Big Ten play. Also, haven't seen or heard anything suggesting what Fowler said to be accurate. With the former player ban from practice, its been very tough to get information. Don't think we will know anything until UCLA. The only thing I've heard even remotely close too "proof" is that Bo didn't mention him when listing true freshmen that will play Saturday. Take that what it is (close to nothing)....

  18. I would recommend every spring and fall.... There is also a "winter" fertilizer that you can put down before winter that is suppose to aide the lawns through the cold.
  19. If you don't mind your grass getting brown in the winter (most grasses do anyways) then Bermuda is a very hardy grass. That stuff is incredibly durable, and stays real thick throughout the fall/winter. It does get "browner" than most other grasses during the colder months, but it is very invasive, and keeps weeds out pretty well....
  20. Have you heard some of the shows on ESPN. They go off topic quite a bit, especially on my favorite show, Highly Questionable.... Anyways, competition with be good for both networks. It will force Fox to go to great lengths to top ESPN, and it will (hopefully) allow ESPN to quit being lazy with their programming.... Hopefully so. But I skeptical that Fox going "to great lengths" will be anything different that what ESPN does. Or perhaps worse. It is a must for them to take a different approach than ESPN if they want to compete. ESPN is to established to try and beat them at their own game.... Fox has a lot of money, so they will slowly start to higher away some of ESPN's guys, and that will help....
  21. A lot of great advice has already been mentioned, the only thing I would add is to mow it high (3 1/2 -- 4 inches). After a handful of mowings you will notice your lawn thickening up. DON'T BAG THE CLIPPINGS! They are very good for the grass (lots of nutrients)....
  22. Guys, We've (I've) already settled on NeBRISKa....
