  1. What's wrong with that? They're really probably the most like comparison for us. Sure there are a few different details, but in a general sense our story lines are eerily similar.
  2. You mean collect about a million per year while he waits for Barry to retire? And write a bunch of CYA policies that have changed the feel of the program from "Family" to "Bureaucratic"?What exactly are you referring to? Here are a couple of examples of the legal crap Pederhorst has put in place: http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=204982151 We used to always get lots of donations from coaches of autographed clothes, jerseys, balls, etc. for charity auctions and such. Pederhorst put a quick stop to that. http://journalstar.com/business/local/no-more-husker-players-numbers-on-fan-jerseys/article_5ce22256-039f-545f-875e-127904b2c763.html Another CYA knee jerk reaction. In his defense, quite a few other schools are doing this, but not all of them. It didn't need to be done. And also, no more coaches at Big Red Breakfasts. Why? The first one isn't struck down by Eichorst on his own. Most of that has to do with NCAA compliance. Meaning he doesn't have a say in the matter. They can still give away memorabilia that is autographed for charities and fundraisers, it says it in the article you linked. Unless you are affiliated with high school athletes or scholarship funds as to avoid impermissible benefit offerings.

  4. You mean collect about a million per year while he waits for Barry to retire? You talked to him about it? It doesn't seem that way to me. The conversation I've had with him didn't give me that vibe. Ive been wrong before though, so I guess we just wait and see
  5. I could write a lot about this topic, but I wont. All I will say is that I wholeheartedly believe in EIchorst and what he is trying to do at this university.
  6. If you call time out with one second left on the play clock, then Illinois gets an extra second. If you DON'T call time out, and then run a bonehead play that stops the clock then Illinois gets an extra 40 seconds. You guys are right, I'm not really sure exactly how I came to the conclusion that it would make that much of a difference with the clock stopped. But yeah, I agree that a timeout there really would have made sense to make sure everyone was on the same page.
  7. Call a timeout so the clock stops huh? That makes even less sense
  8. I would actually say we are a lot closer to 4-1 considering the win percentages we possessed at certain points of those games. Obviously it doesn't really matter one way or the other though...
  9. yep, his sh!t would be leaving Lincoln tonight. You guys are delusional.
  10. On the ribbon board in the stadium this last Saturday during the Southern Miss game they put the words of the prayer up and they used stride.
  11. Is it just me, or does the blue head and neck part kinda look like another head and neck part? (wink wink) nah it's just you
  12. First off, Lee and Anderson are not ready to play physicality wise. And I will continue to trust the coaches as to why Wilbon and Taylor don't see the field. There are legitimate reasons. Just because they have shown flashes here and there doesn't make them good running backs. I'm not saying they aren't good backs. But there is a lot more that goes into being a good back then grabbing the ball and going forward.
  13. Those aren't thoughts, those are facts. But who ever said Riley was a better coach than Harbaugh?
  14. Yeah, it's like when there are cows out in the corn field, and then the farmer harvests the corn, and then the cows go back in the field but it's not the same corn field cuz the corn is gone, Or something. What the hell does that even mean? And trust me, we are trying to field a team that plays like the '95 team did. There is a reason they are the best team in the history of College football though. It's cuz there hasn't been many teams like them. I was just poking fun at Sker4ever who seems to think if you change the carpet in your living room, it's no longer your living room. Technically, the comparison he was making was if you have carpet in your living room and you bang your gf on said carpet. Then you change your carpet, now that is no longer the same carpet you just banged your gf on. Technically, no. He said if you change the turf on the field, it's not the same field. He's wrong. It's still the same field. It just has new carpet. Well technically, we changed everything under it too. We took out the concrete, brought new dirt in, installed a kickass drain system and then put in new carpet. So.... Wait.....can we have an award for the dumbest argument on Huskerboard? Well of course we can. But, out of all the asshatery that has been spewed on this website, do you really think this is the dumbest one of all-time? lol
  15. As lo country touched on already, the most telling part of that article is Riley wanting to walk straight through the crowd after the loss and use the main elevator. He doesn't need people to hide behind, face your challenges head on and man up. I'll tell you, I don't know many people that would do that. You may not like him as a coach (I do), but there's no way you can't respect the guy.

  17. What makes you garauntee a loss to Wisconsin? They haven't impressed me at all. And for that matter, I know it's still Michigan St and they're a good football team, but giving up 21 points to Air Force leads me to believe we won't have as much problem scoring on them as some think. That game being at night in memorial stadium gives us more than a punchers chance in my eyes. I have never understood chalking up a loss in a game before it happens either. If Nebraska loses to Wisconsin because Joel Stave passes for 300 and 4 TD so be it, but I want to see it first. He hasn't shown that yet this year. He looks better, but still nothing super elite. I want to see NU shut down their running game which I hope, pray, and think they will finally try to do. Never look at a tough win against a decent triple option team as a reason for anything other than a win. Don't read too much into it. Mark Dantonio exhaled very deeply after that game was over and said we survived, none of my d-linemen lost a knee because of all the cut blocking and we can move on to the next challenge. That doesn't mean that NU can't play with MSU just don't look at AF playing it fairly close with MSU as an indication of weakness. AF's advantage is that they play a completely different style of game than most teams. This requires a different style of defense play on the other teams part and also causes the offense to adjust. I completely understand the notion of how AF plays and how hard that is to defend. Obviously thats a pretty big reason for G-Tech's success as well. However, If their defense is as good as everyone has said they were, talent, physicality, awareness, and everything else that goes into making a good defense are all things MSU supposedly has. I may be a little ignorant, and please correct me if I'm wrong cuz i really didn't get a chance to watch much of that game, but i didn't see much of any of that. I know that they may have come out flat, or it was simply an anomaly of a game and no one plays as well as possible every time out. But I also see no reason why we don't have a chance to compete against MSU as some are alluding to.

It looks like on Stubhub you can get upper corner seats for about $100. Face value for the Nebraska game is about $90 for those same seats. So not too much difference.

We are thinking about scalping but not sure we want to take the risk. any chance at all we would get 4 together?

    Freedom!

Pressure wise I really do think our line is doing a better job than we are giving them credit. A lot of times sacks are based a little on luck and the fact that the qb ran right into you. The one thing I'm concerned with and I haven't seen it a single time yet this year, those guys don't get their hands up to deflect passes at all. Especially on the slant routes and TE drags, that is the only way you will affect the play as a d-linemen. Suh, Crick, Pierre Allen, Barry turner, Baker Steinkuhler all guys I can think of off the top of my head that were great at getting their hands up when they knew they wouldn't get to the qb. If you watched the Bame Ole Miss game, I remember one drive specifically early that Ole Miss was moving it effectively then Bamas d line batted two balls down on first and second down to kill the drive. You never know too, the more you get your hands up will lead to more balls deflected up into the air and possible interceptions. Just an observation I've had that I think we have really been lacking with so far.
  22. Always been a fan of the all-whites.
  23. Generally, I agree. As long as we haven't gone to the other end of the spectrum. Right now, I'm not sure. And I like our run defense, mainly because of our two (plus one) monster DTs. But our run defense may still be a work in progress. Removing sacks, BYU ran for 156 yards on 23 carries. That's 6.8 yards per carry which is far from stellar, especially for a team known for passing. Their sack-adjusted numbers against Boise State were 90 yards on 35 carries which is 2.6 yards per carry. Last year Boise State was 0.7 yards per carry better than us for the season (obviously without adjusting for strength of competition). How many of those yards against us were Taysom Hill scrambles? I don't know the stats but I'm sure we'll over half.
