racingvike
AWFUL Are you serious?? that would be freaking sweet. I think it would look so awesome, in some youtube video it shows Benard Thomas after a sack and the creator of the video made his jersey turn from red to black and it looked awesome. I think this would kinda give our team a defensive mind set also with the blackshirts tradition. Wow. OK. Yes I am serious. I don't know what people's fascination is with black but. NEBRASKA WILL ALWAYS BE SCARLET AND CREAM. PERIOD. END OF STORY. DONE. I'm really glad you thought it looked pretty cool in a YouTube video but I think it would look putrid. You think people complain about broken tradition now? Holy sh#t! Glad we have you as the final say on everything Husker. I suppose you voted down casinos in Nebraska too because of the great tradition......of higher taxes. I for one think it would look pretty damn cool to have them come out in black jerseys once. Cy the Cyclone
Black would suck...black doesn't show blood, mud or grass stains and other manly vestiges of battle. How would you know who was playing hard with no blood or grass stains on the uniforms? Quote Link to comment
Glendower
Nobody's every going to change their views on this. The more it gets brought up the more the "Traditionalists" are going to bag on new ideas. The more it gets brought up the people who crave something new are going to bag on those who refuse to change. I, personally don't think there is a problem with change...but just my opinion. After all, the field used to be grass...which was slow and had poor footing. Then it was astro-turf...which supposedly caused more knee/ankle injuries and was sure to remove a layer of skin every time you fell on it. Now it's field-turf...which will get little rubber pieces in your eyes and mouth. Oh...and here's a black jersey. Just remove the blackshirt logo and just put a number and that's what it would look like. Oh! I was getting black confused with a different color. Crap, I sure wish I could unsend that letter to Crayola. Quote Link to comment
seed60
Gotta stay red, but the black did look sweet in that youtube video Quote Link to comment
bethelbacker
This, along with "B******" suggestions, is one of the most repetitive and ultimately pointless topics brought up on this board. As Georgia showed, black jerseys look badass, but none of the old-timers are ever gonna allow that to happen, they'll get their Depends all up in a bunch, so lets just let the idea go. admo
Thought the black socks thing looked tough during 97 (Frost, Green, etc). Also liked the all red socks during the Crouch years (home games). Quote Link to comment

I'm not the final say. No way. That's my opinion. That's it. I have a very strong opinion on crap like this. Did I say I was one of the OMG TRADITION people? No. All I said was that those people would go ape if something like this happened. I would go ape because I think it's dumb, not because of OMG TRADITION! I swear I read what I post before I post it and it's pretty clear to me that's what I was saying. Apparently, people don't understand words. Quote Link to comment
np_husker
Schools with no tradition changes colors, uniforms, helmets. Look at Iowa State! I have no problem with changing the design of the uniform as long as it remains red and white and the helmet NEVER EVER changes. Quote Link to comment
NPhusker
I would go ape because I think it's dumb, not because of OMG TRADITION! I am jsut curious Dave why you think it is so dumb? If you think it looks stupid, fine everyone is entitled to an opinion. Just wondering why it is dumb? Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
It would confuse us. Would we stil yell "Go Big Red!"? Dont we still yell "Go Big Red" when we are away and wearing our white jerseys? Ha! That's a good one. I can already hear the wheels in the mind trying to come up with a rational retort. All that's going to come out is something like "Well it's still a stupid idea". I didn't think it was worth responding to, but with red trim, red numbers and red pants, you still see a lot of red in the road unis. The red still sticks out. Go Big Red still makes sense. I was just thinking the other week, when I saw some team that changed colors, maybe it was Clemson's purple instead of orange, and thinking about other schools like Miami and Oregon that are confused about what color they wear, and thought how much I liked that Nebraska doesn't stray from the red. ONE TIME, when ND switched jerseys before a USC game and came out in green for the first time (at least in a very long time), it was real cool. Since then, it's worn off. If you think emulating Notre Dame is a good idea, that's your right. My vote is NO. Quote Link to comment
