Return Game

Recommended Posts

I am sure that the coaches are aware of the issues with the special teams ie the return teams. I am also sure as I am typing this that Bo and company will work this issue during the next few weeks.

ya dont worry, im sure its being looked at and tryin to be improved

Practice makes perfect. Just ask Iverson.

And I think a part of it is just finding the guy who's going to have the spark. We've got some speedy potential returners. If Mendoza ever figured out that you've got to catch the ball before you ignite the jet engines, he'd be a threat. But yes, the battle for field position is one of the more over-looked aspects of playing good football. I imagine they'll be working pretty diligently on that during camp.

Stop sending in the Fair Catch Unit from the sidelines.

Last 5 seasons:

2007- 12 games, 17 returns 8.2 yds (17? Are you kidding me?)

2006- 14 games, 34 returns 8.2 yds (committee)

2005- 12 games, 49 returns 12.9 yds (best season - committee)

2004- 11 games, 30 returns <22 returns for The Great Santino Panico @3.1yds a return :w00t >

2003- 13 games, 39 returns 9.7 yds (Josh Davis)

There needs to be an emoticon for barfing.

and exactly why you don't see your absolute best players returning kickoffs/punts, at least not often. Full speed head on impacts = high chance of injury.

That is pretty ill. I guess you only get 17 returns when you can't force the other team to punt.

yes, we didn't get much "practice" in '07. and because Clownahan was more focused on installing "trick plays" than working on return fundamentals....
