EbylHusker
Well, the NCAA is rapidly turning the game into pussyball. It's one thing to protect vulnerable players, it's another to scare the refs into this sh#t. Quote Link to comment
sewardite4NU
No freakouts please... What are your reactions to this win? 1. Still think Green is a good starter? 2. Watson... improved or not? 3. Receivers improved? 4. O-line, better or worse? 1. Might as well leave him in there the rest of the year. He looked good when he ran, minus the fumble. The INT was pretty bad, but he's a freshman. I'm sure he'll get better. I can see him pulling some plays out of his rear later in the year--an element Lee didn't seem to have. Also, the dude has a cannon. The bomb to Paul was a nice looking pass and the play Paul got up slow on was an absolute bullet. 2. Watson's playcalling was a bit suspect, but the execution was a bigger problem. Our offense has been great in recent years under Watson, it's just one of those years. 3. Receivers weren't bad at all. Cooper is gonna be a pretty good player in the future I think. 4. O line, especially the run blocking, was the biggest problem by far. Yeah we miss Helu and his vision, but there's absolutely no reason we can't gain 1 yard on a 3rd and 1. Our backs didn't even have a chance to get to the line of scrimmage. I don't know if it's the players or the coaching, although I've never been a fan of Cotton. If we can't gain positive yardage against teams like ISU or Baylor, much less blow them off the line, Gerald McCoy and OU are gonna be taking the handoff all day. All in all, it's a win. We no longer need to win with style this year as we aren't ranked. Heck yeah I want to see us win by 3 or 4 touchdowns, but I just want wins and a bowl game. Our offense is obviously below-average, so I'll be happy if they show any progress the rest of the season. They haven't gotten any better since Missouri. Seriously, this is the 3rd straight game with one offenseive TD. That needs to change big time. Green's decision making will get better, but one interception in his first start isn't bad at all. He'll get better with the ball security when he runs too. I'm kinda rambling. The game speaks for itself. Quick points: Offense We need more consistency/better execution on offense. Green will improve with experience, I'm sure. Our o-line needs to be worked with...a lot. Seems we can't get any push. Defense The combination of Crick and Suh at DT is the best in the country. Our defensive backs need to improve ball location skills. They played fairly well in the first half. Holy Crick. Special Teams Nice to see us going after punts all game for the most part. Henery is a great kicker. Henery is not a great punter. Side note: Those personal fouls against us...HORRENDOUS calls. Few missed block in the back calls I saw on punts, which aren't a big deal. But again, this is freakin' tackle football. Let players hit the QB. PLEASE OK THANKS. Quote Link to comment
macroboy
There were no points left out on the field. Baylor left quite a few out there. Quote Link to comment

I AM FOOT FOOT
Hey! both Justin Blatchfords dad and granpa have taken me to jail! he is a good kid though! Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
I don't think they're targeting anyone. It's affecting the entire season for every team. In nearly every game you watch at this point you see a personal foul called that really should not have been called. We're now seeing personal fouls called on a player that would literally have had to ease up BEFORE the ball left the QB's hand just to avoid a foul. Really? wtf NCAA. Quote Link to comment

EbylHusker
That I don't know. I just know it's getting ridiculous and they need to address the problem soon. Quote Link to comment
WCHusker
Mediocre team at best and the injuries aren't helping. Face it-they're aren't good and aren't going to be good this year. Quote Link to comment

I just know it's getting ridiculous and they need to address the problem soon. that's actually a good topic for discussion. 1. we agree once again we're playing tackle football here 2, 3, 4... what other rules have screwed up the game? my OTHER personal pet peeve is timeouts called from the sideline!!! Billyball
Green did okay. Playing him is all that makes sense because he has a much bigger upside than Lee and if we are to have an offense next year that is better, Green better learn on the job this year. Beyond that, yes Watson's play calling is pretty bad. But a much bigger problem is we don't have players. The OL sucks. The recieving corps suck. The RBs suck and the QBs suck. If you want to be brutally honest, that is the bottom line. It's not really an x's and o's thing, it's overall offensive talent, we lack it. combine that with a head coach that is supposed to be a defensive specialist and stubborn along with a OC that has way too damn many plays and is stubborn, we really suck. Now it's way beyond koolaid needed to think that this team is going to win a close defensive struggle with Oklahoma, win the north and beat Texas in the title game and go to a BCS bowl. We may well now win another game. This is about NEXT YEAR now and keeping this team from falling totally apart. Quote Link to comment
Pasadena Husker
You can only do so much on offense when you have a OLine that can't block anybody. Barney Cotton is the problem, has been the problem and will continue to be the problem. exactly. we have other problems on offense, but the biggest one is the offensive line and it starts and neds with cotton. he needs to go. i'm not usre who they would hire instead, but i can't think it would be a big drop off. ICT HSKR 10
I'm amazed at Watson. It's like if a play works well, he never comes back to it. In first half Green rolls out on a naked bootleg and hits the fullback in the flat for a great pickup. Do we see it again? Nope. We get 9 yards on first down, then our O-Line gets blown up on 2 ISO's into the middle of the line on consecutive possessions. Green made mistakes you would expect from a true freshman starting, but also made plays with his feet that Lee would have never made. I just wish this wasn't his only meaningful play right before OU comes to town. We're gonna have to score on defense next week, we may not on O unless it's via Henry's foot. Quote Link to comment
