Jake Locker as fast as Martinez

Locker has had 14 carries for 20+ yards in his career. In just 2 games Martinez has had 6 carries for 20+ yards (3 for 40+)...so I think Martinez is definitely the guy with the "big play" ability with his feet.

I don't know that this is the best comparison to make. Martinez did that against inferior teams, while Locker has had rushing success against some of the best teams in the country, even as a freshmen as you can see here:

-locker runs 4.4

-martinez runs 4.5

locker is a target with no o-line, while martinez has good linemen in front of him. i think i'm not going to be quick to crown him because of the lack of competition.

Source? Make that RELIABLE source?

Apparently you misinterpret the word reliable. I'm definitely going to believe that. No.

by 'reliable' you probably mean 'i want something from a huskers site saying that', so here http://thehusker.com/jake-locker-40-yard-dash/

and yes, it's unofficial. his lowest official time is 4.43

No. By reliable, I mean I want something from an unbiased source. A Nebraska site is not unbiased. Nor is the Washington coaching staff. Rivals, Scout, ESPN, Yahoo Sports, etc.

I want this verified by a source! Our O-line usually underwhelms me....(perhaps I should rephrase that)

well at 6'1 205 he also is more compact and lighter then locker. so that helps. you say that taylor made your jaw drop on his first run. well the same goes for locker. hes a freak for his size. and hopefully Sark unleashes him, ans was holding back last week.

I have no idea how fast locker is...... but i can tell you that have seen some the best running qbs(fraiser, crouch, lord, frost.... and i am impressed with taylor)

Sorry, I sometimes forget that Washington has been so bad in recent years that the cupcakes they have played presented a real challenge and Locker couldn't pad the stats against them.

This is really a stupid conversation. The real question is can locker beat david to the corner if the pocket collapses.

The most sensible post on this page.

Anyone dissing Locker as less than a good QB is being foolish. Anyone comparing Locker to Martinez is doing so on basically no information about Martinez. Locker's started over 30 games in his career and Martinez has started two. The discussion about Lee/Martinez is moot because Martinez is our starter. I support our starter and if Lee comes in, I'll support him too. Cody too, for that matter.

Did I leave anything out? What a weird thread.

Robert Smith on College Football Live believes Martinez is as fast, if not faster than, Denard Robinson.

Discuss.

He said that? Didn't catch that but hey it'd be a really good race considering they're the fastest quarterbacks in the nation. I'll make my biased pick and go with Martinez as being the fastest.
