HuskerfaninOkieland
DeMarco's status still uncertain Status of OU's DeMarco Murray, Jonathan Nelson uncertain By GUERIN EMIG World Sports Writer Published: 11/29/2010 10:35 AM Last Modified: 11/29/2010 10:35 AM NORMAN – The status of Oklahoma starters DeMarco Murray and Jonathan Nelson remains uncertain as the Sooners prepare for their Big 12 championship game against Nebraska Saturday night. OU coach Bob Stoops couldn't make a definitive statement about either player during his Big 12 teleconference appearance this morning. He said he hoped to have an update after tonight's practice. Murray left OU's 47-41 victory over Oklahoma State last Saturday with a knee injury early in the fourth quarter. He rushed for 80 yards and caught six passes for 41 more before leaving. He is the Sooners' leading rusher with 1,053 yards and has exceeded 1,000 two of his past three seasons. Nelson, OU's starting strong safety all season, fell hard while tacking Joseph Randle on the first play of OSU's second series. He was replaced the rest of the night by Javon Harris. Nelson was second on his team in tackles heading into the Bedlam game. Quote Link to comment
EZ-E
He didn't get hurt until late in the game and Landry still put the ball up 62 times? If he does that against us we will catch 10 of them. Quote Link to comment
wilber24
No matter what, Murray will not be at full speed or at least not able to cut as good. But then Martinez will never play a full game either. Call it a wash!!! Quote Link to comment
bball_backer
Honestly, watching that game I think Finch scared me just as much as Murray Quote Link to comment
gratefullred
Honestly, watching that game I think Finch scared me just as much as Murray Finch looked like a better runner, but Murray is better in the passing game both out of the backfield and picking up the blitz. It would be a significant loss if Murray is not able to go. Quote Link to comment
PaulCrewe
Demarco Murray=Marlon Lucky. Almost scarey how much their skillset compare to each other. Quote Link to comment
irieboy8
he doesnt practice all week.. comes into the game.. does his best but is largely either rusty or/and ineffective..... sound familiar for our side??? Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
Murray will be at 80%, won't be able to cut back, will run north/south and not much. TM will not see the field, Green and Burkey will run the show....close game, but our D should have at least 3 picks. Quote Link to comment
Moiraine
I don't like that he's hurt (I'd rather both teams be healthy), but it evens things up as far as injuries go. Quote Link to comment
Husker from Kansas
if murray doesnt play that puts more pressure to get the ball to broyles. without that pass receiving ability out of the backfield a large part of OU's offensive game plan is gone, and if jones tries to force the ball to broyles i see him throwing a couple pics cause prince will lock down broyles and players like haag and gomes will have a hay day in the secondary. either way i think it will be a close hard fought way GBR! REDSTEEL
Demarco Murray=Marlon Lucky. Almost scarey how much their skillset compare to each other. Then I really want Demarco to play. Just have to touch him to tackle him if he's anything like Marlon. Quote Link to comment
HSKRNOKC
I hope he goes. No excuses later. Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
DeMarco may be available for Saturday's game NewsOK.com NORMAN — Oklahoma expects to get back its leading rusher for the Big 12 Championship. The Cornhuskers may have to wait to see if they'll have one of theirs. Sooner coach Bob Stoops said following Monday's practice he has a “positive outlook” that running back DeMarco Murray will be able to play Saturday, despite suffering a knee injury that sidelined him during most of the fourth quarter at Oklahoma State. “DeMarco is much improved from (Sunday),” Stoops said. “We'll see as the week goes. I don't want to say something until it's for sure. “But it's looking positive right now.” Quote Link to comment
bball_backer
Does anyone know if Murray has been practicing? Quote Link to comment
3rd and long
He may want to play (obviously), but if thant knee is sprained or something similar as seriously as it looked, there's just no way. You can tape it up and do all the right things, but if the joint isn't ready, you just can't perform. Just look at Martinez for a perfect example. Quote Link to comment
