bdubb75
There's probably already something about this somewhere but I couldn't find it. How many takeaways have we had this year? It seems like our D is more bend but don't break this year (zone) and less aggressive. We don't seem to have many INT's/fumble recoveries to help out our O. Does anybody have any numbers on this? JJ Husker
Near as I can tell We've recovered 5 fumbles and have 5 interceptions for 10 total takeaways And we've given away 4 fumbles and 6 Int's for 10 giveaways. Another source has us +0.2/game on takeaway/giveaway so I may have missed one takeaway somewhere. Quote Link to comment

It'sNotAFakeID
Now with that information in hand consider this: Our offense is scoring more on average without a defense that sets it up with good field position. And yet, players on our offense are the main focus of a majority of Husker Nation? What a coincidence! Quote Link to comment

Not many remember the smothering Blackshirt defense that forced seven punts, sacked Costa five times, and knocked him on his ass a dozen times or so. Quote Link to comment

walksalone
It doesn't seem to me that we've been causing as many turnovers as we have in years past. I wonder how many turnovers we've had in the past 3 seasons compared to where we are at this point this year... Quote Link to comment
Hoosker
Turnovers win games. Period. At the end of the year, look at the teams in the BCS Bowl Games. I guarantee you that all of them are in the top 20 in turnover margin (other than the Big East automatic qualifier) If you don't take care of the ball or you aren't aggressive on defense, you'll never win championships. treyball3
I think a lot of the defensive turnover issues are because the guys are still learning the defense and aren't confident enough in the system to play fast and "wreckless", going for the ball. Once they get the defense down, I think the number of takeaways will go up. Quote Link to comment
junior4949
Our offense has had a lot of fumbles that we've recovered. This is as bad as a penalty as far as I'm concerned. Quote Link to comment
