knapplc
Sam McKewon tweeted that Joseph was a Grad Asst. under Pelini at LSU, and he "knows Louisiana." Quote Link to comment
Nexus
Apparently he is a cousin of former Husker QB, Mickey Joseph. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
So, he's a good recruiter, he has history with Bo at LSU, he has connections to Louisiana where we would like to target, and he's Mickey Joseph's cousin. That's a reasonably good set of connections. Quote Link to comment
corncraze
Bio - Terry Joseph's defensive secondary unit helped the Vols finish among the nation's top 20 with 18 interceptions in 2010.UT's 18 picks also were fourth in the SEC while tying for 19th overall in major college football, and 10 of those 18 interceptions helped spark Tennessee's 4-0 November run to a bowl game. Only safety Janzen Jackson started every game, while Joseph matched five other consistently improving defenders among the three remaining secondary positions. Prentiss Waggner joined Jackson to earn All-SEC second team honors, and Marsalis Teague, Eric Gordon and Brent Brewer were among the key figures in Tennessee's defensive turnaround. Joseph's mentorship also saw Waggner break the UT record for interceptions returned for touchdowns in a season with three in 2010. Joseph also serves as recruiting coordinator under Derek Dooley, and the New Orleans native held those same duties the previous three seasons on Dooley's staff at Louisiana Tech. Joseph helped turn around a Bulldogs secondary unit that sliced its scoring defense average nearly in half by 2008. That's the year Tech won its first bowl game in 30 years at the Independence Bowl. The Bulldogs finished second in the WAC and played in a bowl game for only the third time since 1989. Joseph also coordinated Tech's recruiting, and the 2009 class ranked second in the league. Rivals.com tabbed Joseph as the No. 4 non-BCS recruiter. Joseph, 37, came to Tech after one graduate assistant season at LSU, where he worked under head coach Les Miles and defensive coordinator Bo Pelini. Before that, Joseph gathered knowledge of the Louisiana high school football circuit -- especially south Louisiana -- thanks to his three seasons each as an assistant coach at both Archbishop Shaw and Destrehan high schools in the New Orleans area. Joseph was at Archbishop Shaw from 1999 through 2002, and then at Destrehan through 2005. Joseph earned his bachelor's degree from Northwestern State in 1996. He was the 1995 Southland Conference Baseball Player of the Year and went on to four minor league playing seasons in the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres systems. http://www.utsports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/joseph_terry00.html Quote Link to comment

That's a reasonably good set of connections. If only he was from Youngstown........I kid I kid. That is a concern. However: Joseph is the cousin of former Husker quarterback Mickey Joseph, who’s the interim head coach at Langston University. Terry has several Louisiana ties (he spent six years coaching on high school staffs in the New Orleans area). I wrote a story on Mickey last summer and interviewed Terry for that piece. Terry and I did speak a bit about Pelini and Nebraska — Terry was a graduate assistant at LSU while Pelini served as defensive coordinator. Terry had nothing but good things to say about the NU head coach, sort of gushing over Pelini’s innovative defensive mind. Terry added that he and John Papuchis, a former LSU intern, remained close after they left the Tigers’ staff and talked pretty regularly. LINK Jon Nyatawa in on this story nine months ago. Kudos to the kid from the OWH! Quote Link to comment

Nexus
I'd imagine Joseph is taking a serious look at this situation seeing how Dooley is on the hot seat. It's no secret if UT has another season like the last two, he's gone. That leaves Joseph and the rest of the staff scrambling for new jobs heading into 2013. 1 Quote Link to comment
