CheeseHusker
So, is the 5-yard version not called anymore? That's the only explanation for what I can only describe as just about everything *except* roughing. Jean-Baptiste made a bonehead play for even allowing the possibility for this to be called, but he clearly pulled up and tried to avoid contact.... I thought it was more clumsy than malicious. GSG
It is. That was roughing because SJB crammed his kicking leg back into him while he was in his kicking motion Quote Link to comment
sd'sker
fact of the matter is that was terrible. Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
It was a terrible outcome but lets face it, if SJB makes contact with the ball, it's a brilliant play. Quote Link to comment
GSG
I think if he had laid out, he might have blocked it Quote Link to comment
MLB 51
He took a bad angle. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
I believe the distinction between the calls depends on if you hit either his kicking or planting leg or not? Anyways, it doesn't matter, does it? Isn't running into still an automatic 1st? Quote Link to comment

I am I
Always 'take' the ball off the punters foot. Never ever dive for it. Ever. We practiced ths over and over in college. If you can't 'take' the ball off his foot.... Pull up completely Quote Link to comment
MichiganMan
didn't see it, but punter is a defenseless player by new standards Quote Link to comment
