TGHusker
This may be more challenging then best QB, RB or DE/DT. Who are our all time top 5 best special teams players - Kicker, Punter (K), Punt return, Kick off returns ®. Who is # 1? (Johnny Rogers IMHO) Some of these guys played Def or OFF besides their special team duties. Some great names come to mind: Johnny the Jet Rogers R Bobby Newcombe R DeJuan Groce R Kris Brown K Josh Brown K Alex Henery K Jesse Kosch K Tyronne Hughes R Irving Fryar R Sam Koch K Darin Erstad K Kyle Lawson K Ameer Abdullah R Niles Paul R Nate Swift R Brett Maher K Dan Hadenfeldt K Eric Hagg R Dana Brinson R Cortney Grixby R Josh Davis R Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
Johnny Rodgers, easy. Alex Henery is an easy #2 in my eyes. After that it's just a mumble jumble, because it's special teams. Quote Link to comment
Husker from Kansas
Johnny Rodgers return during the game of the century has to be #1. It was the biggest play in the biggest game played in 100 years Quote Link to comment
Creighton Duke
I'm gonna go with Dale Endorf (k) mainly because his last name is almost "Endor". Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Johnny Rodgers, DeJuan Groce, Alex Henery, Josh Brown and it's a tossup for the fifth. Quote Link to comment
Ulty
Johnny Rodgers, DeJuan Groce, Alex Henery, Josh Brown and it's a tossup for the fifth. Kris Brown was better than Josh Brown (although Josh had a much better pro career). Quote Link to comment
Ulty
Tyrone Hughes was an awesome returner in the NFL - but I don't recall much about his Husker career. Quote Link to comment
KJ.
Eric Hagg is an interesting person to put on there. He never really played special teams, but had two huge plays on the two fake FG's of 2010. Quote Link to comment
Hoosker
^^^ Good point. The awareness of the fake against the Cyclones was clutch, but that makeshift return against Texas was legendary...if only it produced a win. Quote Link to comment
HuskerFanChuck
Honestly, trying to take five from special teams by comparing kickers and returners becomes, to me, an effort in futility, because it's just really tough to compare those accomplishments. Obviously, in those respective groups, I don't think you have a returner yet that can touch JR, and Alex gets the nod on kickers, easily. I don't know that I've paid close enough attention to returners to make much a value judgment beyond Johnny. For me, the kickers come down to four/five -- Henery, the Browns (close together enough to be tied for 2 for me), Maher, Erstad. Quote Link to comment

GM_Tood
Jesse Kosch was a heck of a P (94-97). Quote Link to comment
