TheSker
Oh, you wanted Husker fans to show up for the bowl game, Bowl Committee? Yeah, scheduling a rematch probably wasn't the swellest of ideas, then. One theory sure. Then the article quotes the CEO of the company, and he's attributing most of it to "Bo Pelini drama" Former player too. That's pretty damn telling. The after effects of "unfounded speculation" Or poor performance. Probably way more likely than the ad being a meany-pants and not guaranteeing Bo until the Hale-Bopp comet returns. Yep....possibly one of the two..... Quote Link to comment
NUpolo8
Seriously, what was the Buffalo Wild Wings bowl smoking? ribs, i suppose. That damn funny wood from NorCal again. Quote Link to comment
Street Novelist
Is it really a surprise? If you thought last year's turnout was bad, wait for the overhead shots before and during the game. I bet anywhere from 25-30% of the stadium will be empty. Quote Link to comment

You know, the most obvious answer likely being the correct one and all. Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
I would be surprised if any college team's fans travel well anymore for anything other than the big games or games that are close to home. Quote Link to comment
husker_99
I understand people are less than thrilled to play the same team again and the same bowl and yes if we took care of business we would be in a better bowl. I look at it this way. If attendance slides too low for too long we will start getting passed over by the better bowls and have to start settling for sh**ty bowls. As long as most of the bowls are based on what team will travel best we will always get the benefit of the doubt even when we do have a less than optimal season. Quote Link to comment
Foppa
Seriously, what was the Buffalo Wild Wings bowl smoking? I bet we'd be in Arizona if Taylor was healthy and ready to play. Michigan (who Nebraska beat) just makes absolutely no sense. Not an interesting team at all. Has Nebraska been on fire this year? No, not really. I get that. But they've been interesting. Michigan has been as exciting as a bowl of tapioca pudding. I always thought that bowl games' primary intentions were to 1) Put people in the stands 2) Get people to watch on TV I thought wrong. I think if we didn't determine that long ago, then Pelini himself saying it probably confirmed it. Pelini's rant was so two years ago.....I'm long past that and don't have a concern in the world about it. As far as what Pelini "dared" management to do......"dare" wasn't Pelini's wording......hmmm, media perhaps? Quote Link to comment
sd'sker
what is disappointing is that we had our first 6 games at home. usually we have a ton of fans travel to our marquee away game. (remember how red the huskies' stadium was?). so, people who usually travel to games during the season did not get to, they did not get to travel to indy, then they have an opportunity to travel to a decent bowl against an intriguing opponent (say what you will about a rematch, but it would still be fun to see us beat uga), but yet cannot muster the enthusiasm to travel. pretty disappointing, indeed. Abdullah the Butcher
If we had our high speed bullet trains that Obama promised then airfare wouldn't be an issue. Quote Link to comment

It's not fair, but fans, I think, are tired of watching a beat-up offense that has a patchwork offensive line and back-up QB's. I'm guilty of this as well, but look at all the threads talking about next season. Next season's expectations. Next season's recruits. It's almost like NU doesn't even have another game this year. No, I absolutely agree with you. But the bowl system, no matter what NU's circumstances (i.e. record) is, has been just killing the Husker fan bases' interests lately. Quote Link to comment
skersfan
some say we were a better rep for the BWW bowl. Michigan is a much larger fan base, and most likely has more fans in the Tempe area, at least that would be my guess. They may have made the choice due to that. Who knows. We do not travel well to the last few bowls, it actually started to fall of when we had Ole Miss with Cally. Not many from this board attended the Holiday Bowl the last two times, even after the Texas game. As some one mentioned earlier, not showing up for Georgia, is going to have an affect on our invites. Of course that could be offset by having a team that the state was very proud of, a few good wins next year and this years failure to travel will not be as bad. Some just do not understand that what we put on the field is more important to the state than the wins and losses. It appears many are not happy with the product. I have been to two bowls since Bo took over, only because they were in my back yard. I can not justify traveling that far for this game. I hate to fly. The other half is not a fan of Bo, so it makes it even more difficult. If the season had been more fruitful and a better bowl who knows. We picked up tickets for the Rose Bowl and the MNC game. So traveling any more is not going to happen. It is sad to see that some just do not see what has happened to the program. Quote Link to comment
