Spooky Tooth
No offense, but I doubt he'll be here for 4 years. At his age, we don't have time for a "rebuilding process." It's not like the cupboard was bare when he arrived; this was a 9-win team a season ago. No basis for this observation. You might be right but you just as well might be wrong. As for the cupboard, does the depth of the d-line and LBs left by Bo not trouble you? 1 Quote Link to comment
MichiganDad3
I think if the losses were just because of the lack of players that fit his system fans would be a lot more forgiving and patience, but 2 of the 3 losses are because of coaching mistakes (byu and Illinois). These mistakes shouldn't happen with a experienced coaching staff like this. With that being said I have calmed down a bit since the Illinois game and am willing to give it until the end of next season. 6-6 this year and a 9 win season next year and I would be content I agree with your assessment, but I hope MR is replaced after this year if we have a losing season. All the banter was that anyone could win 9 games at Nebraska. A losing season can only be caused by an inferior coach. Kick him out and try again. Of course, we have to find the money to simultaneously support two ex-coaches. 2 Quote Link to comment
NowledgeableFan
If Riley loses the team - he will be gone. Let's see if Nebraska plays with passion tomorrow and the rest of the season. If players hang their heads and let Wisconsin run all over us - we have a problem. Lets hope tomorrow is the start of the Riley comeback - It would be nice to beat those damn Badgers.... StPaulHusker
4 years for what? Quote Link to comment
Sargon
Quickly drawn negative conclusions are happening and more will unless and until the defense isn't so horrible. Terrible clock management is also pretty much inexcusable IMO. I'll conclude negative on MR pretty soon if he can't improve those (wonder if Banker is over his head). Edit: pretty soon is unclear--after 2 seasons if the D still stinks and coaching changes there don't happen. Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
He held Illinois 100+ yards under the season average for passing yards..... 1 Quote Link to comment
QMany
I don't know if I can hold out 4 years, I'm not very patient. I can barely last a week between games. Me too, 4 years seems a bit excessive. I'll give him this year and maybe a little slack next year but after that it's pitchforks and torches if we drop another game like Illinois. But any more blatant clock mismanagement and the time line might get severely shortened. That shouldn't happen and it really shouldn't have happened twice like that already. I completely agree, JJ. I'm not calling for heads, but he needs to right the ship. Quote Link to comment

zoogs
Flip the culture, run a positive program, shore up the roster, eventually get to a point where the Huskers are regularly set up for big seasons (not every year, but not once in a blue moon either), and when they're set up, don't go 0-fer on finishing the job. 1 Quote Link to comment
alwayshusking
If he starts recruiting more big time players I'm all for it. Need to start closing the better prospects on their board. We need a talent transfusion in the worst way and even if he doesn't win big on the field we need many great players for the next guy. I'm not as interested in watching a coach bungle games and bring in top 35 recruiting classes. Quote Link to comment

RADAR
I believe that currently 25% of the starters on offense and defense are walkons. Glad the walkon program is keeping players on the field, but 408 really crapped the bed when it came to recruiting. Riley has a great bunch of top players in to visit this weekend, it is a huge start to rebuild the program so we can be competitive again. We were competitive. Last year and the years prior. We are not now. Just so you know. Not competitive??? Where ya been bro? We lost 3 games by a total of 9 points. Under 408, we routinely lost games by 30-40 points. A little more competitive this year don't ya think? Quote Link to comment
