The Dude
Dallas has been doing well in the draft since Garrett has been head coach. I think it's his influence more than Stephen Jones. This has probably been their worst draft since he's been head coach, though. Quote Link to comment

Smiths knee health holds the key to this turning out. Please god don't take Cook! Quote Link to comment
The Dude
Unless they're trying to ride Zeke like they did with Murray in 2014, I don't understand taking a RB that high. Ramsey was right there. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
Anyone think Jerry took Collins specifically to babysit Randy? I honestly think Stephen Jones is calling the shots now, and that is a good thing. In the past Jerry only wanted to draft SEC players, and so far this year the Cowboys have picked 2 Big Ten guys out of their 3 picks. I look for them to take Connor Cook too. Actually there was a time where the Cowboys had more players from small colleges than SEC schools. While Jerry is ceding more control to Stephen and his coaching staff, there are reports that the first round choice is all his. Jerry likes the wow factor, that's why he went with Zeke at #4, instead of Jalin Ramsey. Most Dallas media thought the Cowboys should have gone defense in Round 1 and gotten an RB in round 2 or 3. Elliot will basically have to be Adrian Peterson 2.0 to be worth a #4 overall draft choice for him. Quote Link to comment

Baltimore tried to trade up to 4 for Zeke, which would have probably given Dallas another 3rd round pick, but Bosa, Zeke, and Ramsey would have all been off the board by pick #6. Baltimore's GM came out after Round 1 that he was trying to trade up to 4 for Ramsey. Who knows if he was just making things up after the fact. I'm sure Zeke will be very good at Dallas, but Dallas has so many holes that need to be filled long-term, that I don't think RB was the best choice. Especially when Stephen Jones said after round 1 that they were drafting Elliot for 1 contract (5 years). When choosing at #4, I would hope teams are drafting a cornerstone guy who can be there for 8-10 years. Quote Link to comment

The Cowboys traded up to take Claiborne at #6 a couple years ago and he was a bust, so there is no guarantee that any player, offense or defense, will be a stud when taken in the 1st round. As for Stephen, I think he is the one that physically forced the Johnny Manziel card from Jerry's hands a couple years ago, and thank goodness Jerry did not get his way then. I sometimes wonder how many more Super Bowls Dallas would have won in the 90s if Jerry's ego was not in the way and Jimmy stayed as the coach. Quote Link to comment

GBRFAN
Think Collins was taken by Dallas on merit alone, however they like the added bonus that the two should be able to help each other. Quote Link to comment
Bowfin
Randy has said that he turns to smoking pot when he gets depressed Maybe Gregory wouldn't get so depressed if he didn't get suspended for smoking pot. Seems like he's got a vicious cycle going on here, he'll have to find a way to break out of it. Quote Link to comment

The NFL doesn't seem to have an issue win those drugs. 1 Quote Link to comment
Stumpy1
Marinelli fell in love with Collins when he was scouting Gregory. He said he was the most athletic DT in the draft but also is very raw at the position. Quote Link to comment
