We have more excuses now. We need to list them here, so we're all current on why/how we're good enough/not good enough, what we're doing right/wrong, and why it is/isn't our fault. The list is updated with #95, which I just put on there today. Excuse 1 - It's Bill Callahan's Fault Excuse 2 - :01 second Excuse 3 - We should have stayed in the Big XII. Excuse 4 - Bo Pelini inherited a wrecked ship, Osborne inherited a team that had won two national championships. Excuse 5 - The cameras always focus on Bo. Excuse 6 - The tape was released. Excuse 7 - The OTHER tape was released. Excuse 8 - Bill Callahan didn't wear Nebraska gear to a presser once. Excuse 9 - Aaron Green didn't get a fair chance. Neither did Cody Green. It's not easy being Green. Excuse 10 - #9wins Excuse 11 - Harvey Perlman meddles in the program too much. Excuse 12 - Taylor Martinez is the best quarterback to ever play for Nebraska. Excuse 13 - It's the defense. Excuse 14 - Too many 11am games. Excuse 15 - Tim Miles is better at social media than Bo. Excuse 16 - Hire Scott Frost. Excuse 17 - Barney Cotton is the root of all our woes. Excuse 18 - A player said something on twitter. Excuse 19 - We're not the greatest fans. Excuse 20 - Shawn Eichorst doesn't support Bo. Excuse 21 - That booster said something once. Excuse 22 - Bo only hires his friends Excuse 23 - Stars don't matter. Excuse 24 - The backups don't get enough playing time. Excuse 25 - ESPN sucks and/or hates us. Excuse 26 - The Media hates us. Excuse 27 - Signing small classes hurt your rankings Excuse 28 - Large recruiting classes have more lower-ranked players and hurts your rankings Excuse 29 - We need to run the Option more. Excuse 30 - We need to pass it more. Excuse 31 - We need to run it more. Excuse 32 - Tim Beck!!!!!! Excuse 33 - We don't use the Fullback anymore Excuse 34 - Callahan killed the Walk-On program Excuse 35 - Does Bo ever take a good picture? Excuse 36 - We should have kept Shawn Watson Excuse 37 - Bring back Marvin Sanders! Excuse 38 - That Penn State player was out of bounds. Excuse 39 - Suh got robbed of the Heisman Excuse 40 - Tommie Frazier got robbed of the Heisman Excuse 41 - That Florida State player fumbled at the goal line. Excuse 42 - We play more games now Excuse 43 - We don't have enough night games Excuse 44 - Our schedule is too weak. Excuse 45 - The southern schools never play in the cold Excuse 46 - All our bowl games are played in the opponents' home stadiums Excuse 47 - The SEC oversigns Excuse 48 - Our Offensive Coordinator/Defensive Coordinator is terrible Excuse 49 - Our linebackers coach is terrible Excuse 50 - Our offensive line coach is terrible Excuse 51 - Other teams have a quarterbacks coach. Why don't we have a quarterbacks coach? Excuse 52 - I'd rather do things the right way with quality guys and lose a few than be like the SEC Excuse 53 - It's hard to recruit southern kids to a cold-weather school Excuse 54 - Nebraska doesn't have an ocean/beaches Excuse 55 - Too far from home (or anything actually) Excuse 56 - The Administration doesn't support Bo so we can't land big-time recruits Excuse 57 - We don't spend enough on recruiting so we can't land big-time recruits Excuse 58 - We need a bigger recruiting staff to land big-time recruits Excuse 59 - We can't recruit in Texas because we moved to the Big Ten Excuse 60 - Missouri, Kansas and/or Kansas State are better therefore we can't steal as many recruits from those areas Excuse 61 - Nebraska talent is not what it once was Excuse 62 - Nebraska HS offenses no longer fit the Huskers scheme which hurts our numbers Excuse 63 - We suck at basketball, so there's not a big game for visiting recruits in January Excuse 64 - Omaha is the closest major airport, so flights in are a logistical nightmare Excuse 65 - We don't cheat/oversign/pay the players Excuse 66 - It's easier to get into another school academically Excuse 67 - There is too much pressure from the fans' unrealistic expectations! Excuse 68 - The top of the student section is empty. Excuse 69 - The blue hairs don't stand up and cheer. Excuse 70 - The stadium sound system sucks. Excuse 71 - Callahan left the cupboard bare for Bo in 2008 Excuse 72 - Dirk Chatelain wrote a trolling article Excuse 73 - Our Strength & Conditioning / Dobson is subpar Excuse 74 - The players read these boards and our negativity affects them Excuse 75 - Coach Brown is too preachy Excuse 76 - We lose when we wear alternate uniforms Excuse 77 - If you think/say/do/don't do ___________ you aren't a true fan. Excuse 78 - Steve Pederson Excuse 79 - The Refs hate us Excuse 80 - The Defense / Offense / whole team gave up Excuse 81 - They came to win, not to play the game Excuse 82 - Callahan closed the door to former players Excuse 83 - We can't / won't / don't make adjustments Excuse 84 - Bo's dog house Excuse 85 - The refs won't call holding on our opponents Excuse 86 - It isn't the 90s anymore Excuse 87 - The announcers/analysts have no clue what they're talking about / are biased (against us) Excuse 88 - Brent Musburger's open container ticket cost us votes in a poll Excuse 89 - Huskerboard/social media isn't serious enough nor supportive of the players Excuse 90 - We never play well on National TV Excuse 91 - We always play down to the level of competition Excuse 92 - Lawrence Phillips made our team look like a bunch of thugs Excuse 93 - Bo never plays Freshman Excuse 94 - The players won't play for Bo Excuse 95 - Ed Cunningham always wants targeting called against our players Excuse 96 - We aren't tough enough Excuse 97 - Our locker room is too showy Excuse 98 - We need old rusty weights and a dirt floor in the Strength & Conditioning area Excuse 99 - We aren't big enough Excuse 100 - Our linemen are jelly Excuse 101 - We are not quick enough Excuse 102 - We waste our time on home visits if a recruit doesn't commit Excuse 103 - We lose when we wear "Surrender Whites" Excuse 104 - Our starting talent lags behind the 2nd string level of top 15 programs Excuse 105 - We have no depth Excuse 106 - Our O line is terrible Excuse 107 - Our D line is terrible Excuse 108 - Our current offensive scheme won't work in the B1G conference Excuse 109 - We are slow and weak compared to top 15 programs Excuse 110 - Our defensive scheme isn't aggressive enough Excuse 111 - All of our players are injured. Excuse 112 - Pelini's players are brainwashed and won't buy into what Riley and his staff are teaching Excuse 113 - We don't spend enough on coaches, otherwise (Insert coach here) would be at Nebraska Excuse 114 - The Big XII/Texas axed the Prop 48 rule Excuse 115 - Shawn Eichorst fired Bo, another 9-win coach, and now we're in this situation Excuse 116 - Mike Riley is a .500 career coach and can't win a championship (ignoring the Grey Cup championship he won) Excuse 117 - Nebraska winters are too cold - recruits won't come here Excuse 118 - It was much easier to win the Big 8 than the Big Ten Excuse 119 - Wisconsin fans are drunk and obnoxious Excuse 120 - Only three things can happen when you pass, and two of them are bad Excuse 121 - No #PolySwag Excuse 122 - Our true freshman QB who is redshirting didn't show that he is an absolute stud so our QB recruiting sucks Excuse 123 - There are a lot of young players in key positions and a new QB starting Excuse 124 - Riley is too nice! 6 Quote Link to comment

I think in the thread it was comments like "Look at their arms - they aren't defined" "How many bellies do you see hanging over the belts of the 95' OL/DL vs. today's OL/DL" etc. The talk was all about how they're soft, don't care about being in shape and that the coaches are ok with that. 1 Quote Link to comment

Try- 96- Our starting talent lags behind the 2nd string level of top 15 programs. 97- We have no depth on the roster. 98- Our O line is terrible 99- Our D line is terrible 100- Our current offensive scheme won't work in the B1G conference. 101- We are slow and weak compared to top 15 programs. 102- Our defensive scheme isn't aggressive enough. 103- Injuries are now a yearly excuse used by NU fans but top 15 teams seem to overcome them.
