Red Five
I don't think that questionable is strong enough of an adjective to describe these rankings... First the qualifier: Players were evaluated solely on their on-field performance at Nebraska. 21-25 25 Turner Gill 24 Scott Frost 23 Guy Chamberlain 22 Brook Berringer 21 Jerry Tagge 16-20 20 Trev Alberts 19 Cory Schlesinger 18 Dean Steinkuhler 17 Barrett Ruud 16 Lavonte David 11-15 15 Jason Peter 14 Roger Craig 13 Tom Rathman 12 Rich Glover 11 Lawrence Phillips 6-10 10 Irving Fryar 9 Ahman Green 8 Will Shields 7 Eric Crouch 6 Dave Rimington 1-5 5 Grant Wistrom 4 Johnny Rodgers 3 Ndamukong Suh 2 Mike Rozier 1 Tommie Frazier 3 Quote Link to comment
Red Five
I'll start: Turner Gill at 25?!!??! Behind Brook Berringer? Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Yeah, Berringer was the first one who jumped out at me. For as much as he is liked, he really only played meaningful snaps in, what, 9 or 10 games? Not sure about Schlesinger or Rathman either. Tougher to quantify as they played on some really good teams but were more part of the team as opposed to being the huge difference-maker themselves. If they swapped Gill and Rathman, I could see that being in the ballpark. Quote Link to comment
Huskerchussetts
On field performance and Phillips isn't in top 10? Tough crowd.ahman green not in the top 25 or are they going to say he's top 10? Don't agree with either Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
Fullbacks shouldn't be listed on here. Also, a player that has never received an individual national award or been named a 1st Team All American should not be listed above someone who has. Especially at a school like NU. Lawrence Phillips maybe the exception. 2 Quote Link to comment
wiuhusker
The top 10 is going to be interesting. Phillips at 11 surprised me. Off-field issues aside he's probably one of the top 5 talents we've had. Was also surprised to see Glover outside the top 10. Although he was well before my time it was always mentioned how dominant he was during the '09 Suh season. Hell his Game of the Century stats alone should put him in the top 10. 1 Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
3 QB's listed ahead of Gill is laughable Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
Barrett Ruud ahead of AA Trev Alberts is a crime Quote Link to comment
Nebfanatic
Without a doubt there will be snubs Quote Link to comment
Red Five
Glover and Steinkuhler both made SI's All 20th Century Team, both won an Outland and Lombardi Award, but somehow couldn't crack Nebraska's top 10 players? 1 Quote Link to comment
wiuhusker
3 QB's listed ahead of Gill is laughable With Crouch it's going to be 4. I realize Frost is only 1 spot ahead of Gill but if you polled 90,000 fans on gameday that about 95% of them would take Gill ahead of Frost. 1 Quote Link to comment

Gill is easily #3 of the group. Quote Link to comment
