We are in the midst of a real dive: https://theweek.com/speedreads/903646/goldman-sachs-devastating-revision-gdp-growth-predictions Goldman Sachs predicts the coronavirus crash will be bigger than it originally thought. In a Friday research note, the bank projected a 24 percent drop in the U.S. GDP in the second quarter — a stark revision from its prediction of a five percent drop earlier this week. Goldman Sachs does see a slight rebound in Q3 and Q4 of 12 percent and 10 percent, respectively, but that still leaves the GDP down 3.8 percent at the end of the year. They're probably just excited this is the first time they're not to blame for a crash. 1 1 Link to comment

teachercd
Okay, what changes are going to be made to the stimulus bill? I just mean in regards to our cash... 1 Link to comment
RedDenver
I don't agree with her entirely as we're going to need to somehow keep businesses afloat, but why the crap are we bailing out the cruise industry at all? And especially why are we doing that ahead of helping out fellow Americans in the greatest need? Link to comment

And especially why are we doing that ahead of helping out fellow Americans in the greatest need? Because they are part of the Hospitality industry where Trump makes his money. Also note the Republican bill has a stipulation that businesses who get bailout money - at Mnuchin's sole discretion - will not be publicly named for six months. If that bailout hits in the next two months, that puts us right at election time. So Trump won't have to disclose whether he took bailout money until after the election (if at all - his voters stupidly voted for him without knowing his personal finances, after all). 2 Link to comment
teachercd
Yeah, but this is about us, the people, that need cash. Holding this up FOR ANY REASON other than if you are trying to get MORE MONEY for us...is wrong. If anyone is holding it up for the sole reason as a "gotcha" to Trump...they are a$$h@!es. Here is an idea... Citizen Stimulus Bill: Every adult gets 1,500, every child gets 500. No sliding scale for how much you make. If you want to be a true SJW and you don't want your cash because you make a lot...you can opt out. Business Stimulus Bill: Do whatever and fight it out. But stop f#&%ing over the people. 2 Link to comment

If anyone is holding it up for any reason other than everyone getting the same amount...they need to be beaten. Just do the right thing, give everyone the same.* *Maybe give teachers more 1 1 Link to comment
