(AP) Matured Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong set to face Purdue

The sophomore is one of only three quarterbacks with more than 1,500 yards passing and 500 yards rushing. Mississippi State's Dak Prescott and Nevada's Cody Fajardo are the others.

Armstrong is second in the Big Ten with an average of 276 yards of total offense, and is first in the nation among quarterbacks with 6.5 yarders per carry.

Yeah, he has come a long way since that afternoon in West Lafayette 12 months ago.

Fun fact, we might have had Cody Fajardo back in the Tyler Gabbert recruiting cycle. Cool to see him make his mark at Nevada.

Tommy consistently is making way too many mistakes at QB. As a runner he's doing well, but as a passer, he is horrendous. Only about 3 out of every 10 balls he is throwing is on target to the receiver, and the rest either require our receivers to make outstanding plays, or in today's case, they are perfect targets to the opposing team. As this point, I don't see any chance of us winning in Madison with the consistent mistakes and misses from the QB. I realize others on offense make mistakes, but TA's are way too common.

Pretty common theme both last week and this week. When we're running-WHETHER IT'S SUCCESSFUL OR NOT-Tommy is very efficient and good off play action. When Beck tries to flip his switch into Brady mode, it goes to sh#t-FAST. This was my gripe last week that so many bitched at me for. WATCH THE GAMES. Watch the drives we score, and the drives we look like crap. Look at the actual plays, and the situations. Then look at the drives that fail. It's erratic with no feel.

Watch how Gus uses Nick Marshall. HE KNOWS WHAT HE HAS and calls accordingly. Puts him in a position to succeed. We do the opposite with Tommy. Yes, Tommy is not good as a passing qb. So why do we put him in that position?

I wonder what tommy is saying after those ints he always seems to be pointing fingers and yelling after

Pretty obvious on the one today, westy shoulda broke the route off into a slant. I'm sure we run a lot of read/option routes. On the other pick, well, that was just a great defensive play. Guy got up and tipped it. Tommy was gonna lay it over to Westy in the back of the endzone, and Westy had a couple steps on the guy. Couple of the other near picks right off memory were just really bad Tommy decisions.

It's not every int either.
