Nebraska signs Evan Taylor from Odessa College

Well ... I guess we do need someone to backup Watson. Webster can but will be playing more 2 without White.

He was decent at Samford - not sure why he left - but was pretty sub-par and had pretty much lost his spot at Odessa.

I'm looking at our roster trying to figure out what I'm missing. We have some OK players but no one who really jumps out, at least from a scoring standpoint. I hope all this talent we have really comes out this year.

Where are you getting the bolded.

This is from the article.

It appears that Turner went off to Odessa College in central Texas last year, where he started all 31 games last year and upped his PPG average to just over 7 per game.

According to Odessa's web page, he only played one minute in several of their late season games. But now that I look again, he was getting more shots than he could have for one minute of play so apparently the minutes played number is wrong.

So I take back what I said about him losing his spot.

You are quick to jump on the NU negative side.

You have a statement that says a guy started all 31 games and upped his PPG

Then after digging deeper and finding some info that doesn't even make sense.

You go off on the guy before even comparing your notes.

Very impressed with all the info you pass on - not so much with your ability to give NU the benefit of doubt

He made 10 threes...he shot 18% from 3. He is also not a slasher/scorer type which means most teams will play off of him.

I though it was interesting because I didn't realize we were in the market for a point guard. So I did some checking.

I read the article posted above.

I read an OWH article.

I was interested in how he did at Samford so I looked up his stats from his year there.

One article said he made all-conference as a freshman which I thought seemed odd because his stats weren't overwhelming. So I tried to do some research on that and found it it was the all-freshman team. That's more what I thought it would be but that's still a nice accomplishment, considering he was playing for a fairly bad team.

I read an Rivals article that said he was getting some interest from some mid-major schools early in the year but then basically everyone backed off him and he was planning to go back to Odessa.

I was curious why everyone backed off so I went looking for his stats from last year.

I saw his shooting percentages were not that great and then I saw his minutes seemed to go away.

I did notice the part about his starting every game but after looking at the minutes played stats, I thought they must have been talking about his time at Samford.

Those stats seemed to be an explanation for why everyone else backed away from him.

So contrary to what you like to think, I don't just make a quick jump to a negative post. I did quite a bit of research and formed an opinion based on a decent amount of information. Unfortunately one part of that opinion was based on faulty information. When that was discovered, I retracted it.

That doesn't make my opinions correct. Of course, they aren't incorrect at this point either - we'll have to see. But based on the facts/stats you provide to back up your opinions (or lack there of, as it were), you don't seem to do much research at all. You've just taken it upon yourself to be argumentative because you don't like what I have to say. Which is your prerogative. But it doesn't make me lend much value to your arguments.

You are correct i don't have the time to do alot of research so i'm less knowledgeable then yourself. I have stated on numerous occassions how much your research and work is appreciated by myself and i assume many others.

I also haven't invested the extra time into this - with the exception of the hours and hours that i watch all NU sports. Sometimes i get the feeling that you invest so much time into NU research that you feel you deserve something back - when you don't get what you hope for it turns negative (not by choice but that is a natural reaction to situations that the return is less then the investment). This is just my thought and not saying it is your reality. I think in this case, i have said more then needs to be said about my thoughts towards your posting - so i will do my best to step back and avoid the subject.

As mentioned above and other times - the work you do to give this site substance is much much appreciated.

He probably will only be able to take threes is he is open, I think this guy gets about 10 minutes or so per game. I think he gets us 4 points and two assists per game and maybe a rebound per game and that is all I am expecting of him. I also expect him to have a better three point percentage and to take smart or open shots. It would be nice for him to improve his overall FG and FT percentage a little bit as well.

Man...that has him at about 16 and 8 per game if he played 40 minutes...I think 4 and 2 a game is high.
