Well, I think honest people look at themselves first. How are things going (economically) "for me", because face it, that is the most important thing first. So, like I said, if I was doing a poll right now and my biggest concern was buying a house...I would "hate" how the economy was going right now, which would influence how I answered the question. If I was not looking for a house but say I owned 10 rental homes, I would think the economy was awesome right now. The ONLY thing I don't like right now, is the cost of s#!t at the stores. My 401k is fire. My fun account is fire. My interest rates that I got are insanely low. Gas prices don't really bother me because I made the mistake of buying a car meant for a 16 year old girl. So putting any stock or merit in those poll questions can really be a bit of a fools errand. If I got polled about the economy right now I would give it two thumbs up. My friend that just got divorced had to move out and is now renting a "starter" home for more than what his awesome home cost each month...he is gonna give it two thumbs down. Because again, most of us look at our situation first.

I think this really begs the question, how do you (and the public in general) judge the economy? My 401K is doing great, but yet my paycheck isn't going as far as it used to week to week. What do I think of the economy? Personally I feel it's trending down. I say this because week to week, I'm spending more at the grocery store, more at the gas station, more for entertainment than I was even a year ago. I feel this way because it's tangible and has immediate impact. But if I only looked at the value of my home, the resale value of my vehicles, my portfolio, I'd say the economy is doing really good. I think that's biggest issue for people, the daily cost of living is trending the wrong way and makes people feel the economy is worse than it is. And I think the reports of how great it is angers those that are struggling paycheck to paycheck. It's fine and dandy that investments are doing great, you can't use your investment to eat tomorrow and too many just can't afford to invest, and now the small time investors are feeling like they can't invest as much any more.

That is usually listed as one of the primary reason Nebraska tries to avoid Friday night home games. So many fans come from so far that it makes it really tough to get there. Not that the B1G cares, although we've avoided them for a lot of years. I guess we have to take a turn every now and then (until we get as much clout as Michigan and Ohio State).
