  1. I come here to read about Beau Sandland. Period. If you guys want to argue, bet and have pissing matches about whether Ben Cotton will be drafted I have no problem with it.....just take it to Ben Cotton's page.
  2. Now that I watch this again Gandolf does look like Pelini with long hair and a beard.
  3. For the "You Shall not Pass" fans:
  4. This brings up an interesting question. Why should UCLA play balls to the wall in the first game? They play the same team in the Pac 12 CG the next week. Will they even worry about winning? The only problem I see is it would give them potentially 3 losses and even if they win the CG they might be ranked lower than #14 which would give the Rose the option of taking a higher ranked team outside of the Pac 12.
  5. If Stanford plays the kind of defense they played yesterday, they should beat UCLA. While UCLA's offense isn't identical to oregon's, it still tries to get fast players in space to maximize their speed. Stanford took that away from Oregon and did a great job keeping the running lanes closed. A Stanford - Nebraska matchup would be fun.
  6. I think we all knew this season wasn't going to be pretty. The fact they are playing similarly to what Doc had them doing is testament that there is probably only one way these kids will have success. A slower try to find a good shot offense and play as good a defense as possible. As new recruits see how this team plays there is an excuse for Miles to tell them there are chances for kids to play right away. For now I'll be happy with whatever this team can accomplish this year.
  7. I don't know if the rule has been changed but I do remember several games in the 70's and 80's where the refs would throw the flag for excessive noise against the home team. I haven't seen it happen at all in the last 20 years.
  8. I'm a non drinker but I don't oppose others who do in a place where it is appropriate. I understand the need to put butts in the seats of the new arena. Sitting next to people who drink can be a pain in the bupkiss. If I'm there to watch a game I don't want some lush leaving every 10 minutes to go pee and return with two more beers. Plus the crap that often comes out of their mouths when they are drunk turns decent people into idiots. I've been to too many events that I paid good money for only to have it be less than it could have been because of heavy drinkers around me.
  9. And when you are running for your life or just standing there with 1-4, 6'4'-6'-8" 290lb+ guys bearing down on your ass, with ill intentions in their minds, it's easy to miss "that" guy. If it was easy I could do it. Part of his growth as a Qb will be when he has command of the field. He isn't there yet though he has improved tremendously. The faster he can see the field in his mind and read the defenses, the more success we will have. Getting rid of the ball, making a good pass to an open receiver even 1/2 sec sooner will create less pressure on him. Things like getting outside the tackle boxes and ditching the ball instead of eating it for a 10 yard loss will sustain drives better. Arm pumps to deceive the Db's. Better accuracy while rolling out to throw. Lots of little things the better Qbs do to be more effective.
  10. This team will go as TM goes. If he has 4 quarters of error free, good decision ball this team is close to unstoppable. When he struggles we struggle. I love his toughness this year which I'm sure is attributed to being more injury free. He is turning into a true QB instead of an athlete playing Qb. This summer I'd like to see him learn how to look off Db's and working on his progressions. Yesterday I saw him throw several times to receivers who were covered when there were open guys down the field. One in particular was a throw to Jamal Turner at the left sideline. He was well covered but on the replay I saw what looked to be a tight end or receiver all alone in the middle of the field about 15 yards down.
  11. If this has been discussed I apologize but did anyone else hear the coaches show on the radio after the game? I heard Bo apologize for putting the players in tough situations during the game. He said he made the wrong calls and apparently several times. Not sure if this was the issue between he and Stafford. They'll work it out between themselves. Thats what men do. We don't hold a grudge for weeks and months.
  12. I hope Beau was watching today or DVR'd the game for later. Our TE's caught several passes...Kyler Reed's catch and run was crucial.
  13. It's time for David to make the jump to light speed and commit. It had to be good for he and his dad at the game today.
  14. Its raining cats and dogs here in south central Nebraska. Good win Huskers!
  15. Our boys are confused and flat today. Taylor has missed several open receivers. Kicking game isn't great. We better have some good adjustments at halftime.
  16. Vince...your sis sounds like a smart young lady! We need to send her a Husker shirt.
  17. The Big 12 allowed the defenses to play a little rougher than what the Big 10 allows as far as coverage on receivers. Last year however, our DB's coach had our guys dial it back and we had problems. This year Coach Joseph has instilled a more SEC-Big 12 type of coverage. It wasn't well received by this group of refs apparently.
  18. What I read about the PAC 12's options if Oregon goes to the NCG are this: If they want to choose another PAC 12 team to take their place that team must have at least 9 wins and be ranked in the top 14 of the final BCS rankings. Oregon (9) wins, OSU(7) wins, Stanford (7) wins, USC (6) wins and UCLA(7) wins, are the only teams that currently qualify. Stanford has 3 tough games left against ranked teams. OSU has two tough games and two easy games left. USC has two games vs ranked teams and one easy game left. UCLA has games vs two ranked teams and one easy game left. Oregon should win out. If Oregon gets aced out of the NCG they will go to the Rose. OSU could have the easiest road with two more wins which would qualify them and three more would probably put them in the top 14. The fourth win would be vs Oregon (not impossible but unlikely). If USC wins out they might qualify. If they beat ND but loose to UCLA then that might open the door for ND in the Rose. If UCLA wins out they could slip into the #14 spot or higher. Too many games yet to determine who the Rose Bowl opponents might be. We still need to take care of business as well. Not much rep to be gained playing any of the PAC 12 teams beside Oregon....possibly OSU if they are 10-2. We stand to gain the most by playing and beating ND.
  19. I have high hopes for this young man as well as several of the recruits on board. He appears to be very athletic.
  20. Hey, Ceresco is a nice town. Yes it is. My niece and her family live there. A nice place if Beau wants the quiet life. Or if he wants a nice bedroom set or sectional I have no doubt "Ernie" could find a recliner that would fit Beau perfectly after a tough game.
  21. My heart tells me Nebraska could compete with Oregon in the Rose. We'd need a little help with turnovers. My head tells me it could get ugly if we commit a few turnovers as has been the case in big games. I could see us having problems with how they spread the field with their speed. Our young quicker LB's haven't been on the big stage enough to not get stage fright. Some have said if Bo has 5 weeks to prepare, he could find a way to stop them. Remember, Coach Kelly has 5 weeks to prepare for us as well. We could probably put up some points on them, but in a scoring race I'm afraid we loose the battle. That being said I wouldn't be afraid to see us play the Ducks.
  22. I wouldn't call us a sleeping giant. Maybe a "gigantic midget" which works out to be about 5'10 and 170 pounds.
  23. The mistakes I'm seeing from both the offense and defense are pretty much the same mistakes I see from all but about 5 other college football teams in Div 1. Lots of PI calls that make D backs look bad. Receivers who sometimes drop catchable balls (not many drops by us this year to Coach Fischers credit). Qb's who make bad decisions. Coach Beck is between a rock and a hard place with this offense. Our O line is decent but not dominant. The receivers are very good. Taylor M can be a feast or famine type of player. One thing I like about this team and especially the offense is their never say die attitude.
