  1. Aplin did a few good things but our D never let him get on a roll. I didn't see any of the 6'6" receivers however that gave our D backs fits last week.
  2. I'm just a little shocked that no more than 300 people would show up for a "U" game, even if it is Bethune Cookman. Even Oklahoma between Switzer and Stoops Stoops had decent crowds. Miami (the city) has had a "movie star mentality" for awhile now and without many thugs to make headlines on the team, I guess they'd rather go to the beach. One advantage of being in the Big 10 is not having to go to a bowl game in Miami every year.
  3. Priceless! I'll have to put a little ketchup on my knives and answer the door that way next time.
  4. About a page ago this thread derailed into a pissing match declaring each others's candidates did this and your's did that. Meanwhile our embassies all over the middle east are being assaulted and in some cases over run. I think all personnel have been evacuated and more marines are being called in. Lets hope they have live ammo this time. Let's not forget the families grieving at the loss ot their husbands, fathers, sons and brothers. Does anyone know if the ambassador's body has been recovered? I heard that Libyan police had taken the body to a morgue yesterday.
  5. I would swear there was already a thread on Wullenwaber from a few days ago.
  6. Looking at his film, I'm wondering who he was playing against. It looked like a Jr Hi team as he dwarfed them. The time he carried the ball he was dragging about 8 of their guys 7 or 8 yards after contact. It would be good to see some film of his juco team. If he could dominate Div 1 like he did here then by all means get him committed!
  7. Unless this D picks up the pieces and has a good game saturday, we won't cover a 24 point spread. The score may be 55-52 with over 1000 yards of offense between the two teams.
  8. While on the surface, Taylor M might be the choice for a Wildcat Qb, I dissagree. To me Jamal Turner is the one who should get those snaps. Martinez might be faster in the open field, but he can't avoid a tackle to save his hide. I doubt Turner gets tackled in the end zone last saturday by a much bigger player with a full head of steam. Taylor gets a deer in the headlights look and freezes. Turner may not have made big yardage put I'm betting he doesn't get tackled for a safety.
  9. I hate burning the redshirt of Westercamp but it may be necessary. Two weeks ago we had a deep rotation of wide receivers but now not so much. I really wanted to see TW burn a few Db's in the Big 10 this year. Get well Tyler and work hard.
  10. The US Ambassador to Libya was killed trying to flee the consulate when rebels stormed the compound. The car he was in was bombed. It would appear our efforts to end harsh regimes in the Middle East has backfired once again. http://gma.yahoo.com/u-s--ambassador-to-libya-christopher-stevens-killed-in-consulate-attack-in-benghazi.html Democracy will never work there until the there is an intelligent electorate.
  11. I realize I am old school. That being said I don't understand the celebration mentality of this generation. I know they are trying to emulate what they see on Sunday NFL. That is exactly why I don't watch NFL games. I think exactly what Bowfin said above. If after the win is secured then a player can do whatever the refs will allow. If a team or any player needs a "throw the bones" or a victory dance to get them pumped then go right ahead....party all you want. A good team is already planning the next play and will probably run over or past you while you are still celebrating the last play. Don't get me wrong....I like Compton and think he represents Husker Nation with class. I'm proud he is wearing Husker scarlett on saturday afternoons.
  12. That's pretty bad against a good offensive line. Against the very young O line of UCLA, it tells me a few younger more talented players need to see the field.
  13. I don't think many of the problems I saw saturday were correctible by the players. Even Saban couldn't coach our players to speed up their play. UCLA did a great job of spreading the field and taking advantage of our lack of speed. The players weren't out of position because of coaching, they were just to stinking slow to get to where the tackle needed to be made. Thats what causes arm tackles in this instance.
  14. Congrats to the Bobkittens and Coach Solich. Good job of picking himself up and gettting back on his feet. Kinda funny that our LB coach leaves Ohio to come here and now Ohio is the higher ranked team. I wouldn't be surprized if Ohio is higher ranked than Nebraska (assuming we are even ranked) at the end of the season.
  15. If my memory serves me right, Bo was a starter at OSU his junior year but didn't play as much his senior year under new coach John Cooper. I seem to remember he left OSU with a bad taste in his mouth. I wonder if he has a soft spot in his heart for smart players because of his past.
  16. It must be all on Taylor M. Our high school coaches from Youngstown couldn't possibly make a mistake that agregious and get outcoached by pro coaches. Of course I am sarcastic about it being on Taylor. Not so much about the second statement.
  17. Bo probably knows what he has in the last two recruiting classes....I and most of us do not. He may have been hoping to get through this year with the veterans and make needed changes next year. Whatever he decides will surely affect his legacy in Huskerland....but I doubt he is worried about that very much. His loyalty is to his players and his coaches. Hopefully he gets the ship righted soon.
  18. See you in Lincoln next year ucla. You are on the road to becoming a good team. Act like you've been there before "baby".
  19. This is the best analysis of the day! The defense did a fair job in the 2nd half after they made adjustments. The poor field position hampered the offense as well as defensive adjustments UCLA made at halftime. Our D was a tired bunch by the end of the 3rd Qtr. This also wasn't the weak sister type of UCLA team that Sparky was putting on the field. Mora has toughened them. I'm not saying we have a great D....they may not even be good at a lot of positions.
  20. it isn't unusual for former Husker football players to want their sons to also play for the Huskers. It is also not uncommon for successful fathers to be so busy that they have a hard time being good parents. Not sure if the sons feel they can't live up to the successful image of their fathers and rebel instead of working hard or if fathers are just to busy being good at what they do. The pattern of Successful father/rebellious son is shown in the Bible many times. The generation that fought in WW2 called the "Greatest Generation" by many was also the generation that raised the rebellious "Baby Boomers" of the 60's and 70's. I feel sorry for Mike Minter as I'm sure he loves his son like all fathers do. I hope he matures quickly before his world collapses.
  21. It doesn't really bother me that our team is put in the "flavor of the month" category. Until we win over the Wisc, Mich, and OSU and Mich St on the field and do it convincingly, we won't be taken seriously. Even after beating Miami in the Orange Bowl we were the underdog to Florida the next year. We will always be an unknown quantity nationally. Our players come from a variety of places rather than from one geograpical area. Writers in the southeast know most of the players in the SEC because they were high school stars. The same for USC and Texas. They recruit locally because they can. ESPN, while they are a national franchise, caters to the large population areas because thats where ad revenue comes from. If we get positive national attention it will be because the team earned it.
  22. We can expect UCLA to come out of the blocks full of energy. After the first few hits it will settle into which team has the best athletes, scheme, and who came to play football. I heard on the radio yesterday that Mora has only installed 35 plays with a few variations of each in an effort to keep it simple for his young Qb. If our D can pressure him and our D backs can hold coverage on the wide receivers, it will force them to be one dimensional. While he isn't a pocket Qb, he doesn't look as good as the Mich or OSU Qb. Playing our first road game might be a factor in the first half. A few adjustments at halftime and I think we roll.
  23. Probably the biggest bonus I see to the Big 10 over the 12 dwarfs is the commissioner looking out for all 12 teams. When the Big 12 started it always seemed that Beebe was eating at the Texas training table and got his marching orders at breakfast. So far I'm not seeing that here.
  24. If we can develop a little depth from a few of the young uns we should be fine without MTM. Linemen get nicked up easily through the season and depth is important.
  25. I believe he is a senior and has probably redshirted. Would this injury allow him to apply for another year since it happened in the first half of the first game of the season? He will be out a minimum of 6 weeks before he could practice and 8 weeks to play now. If we aren't hurting for receivers and he could play another whole year, he should sit this year.
