I hope the NCAA, backed by the rest of the schools, doesn't budge and Cali schools are kicked out temporarily. Unfortunately the NCAA is a spineless and ineffective organization. When the NCAA does buckle and the players effectively become paid, the B1G needs to drop the guaranteed 4 yr scholarship. Schools should be allowed to fire players if they aren't satisfied they are getting what they paid for.

This was close to becoming one of those chunk plays that the coaches are so fond of.

Does Nebraska need to pass a law? Seems like we can just wait until 2023 when the CA schools are still part of the NCAA and aren't sanctioned. At that point our athletes can start selling $10,000 autographed photos and get our recruiting boosted up. Maybe the university needs to change some rules but I doubt there are state laws about what amateur athletes can or can't do.

I like it. It's better than being projected 4th and finishing 13th. Good chance to finish higher than 13th.

Fantasy being the root of fantastic I have to agree. Tier One Wisconsin Iowa Tier Two Northwestern Minnesota Tier Three Nebraska Illinois Purdue We can probably beat Purdue with Sindelar being out. We'll need to start playing better to beat 2 of Northwestern and Minnesota, Indiana but if we can, bowl eligible. Maybe that will provide some kind of motivation for the team but I wouldn't count on it. At this point they are used to not going to a bowl game. 5-7 likely.

Wouldn't he have said "I'm a better power blocker than a speed rusher (blocker)"? Since he said "and" maybe he is referring to Chase Young as not a speed rusher and more of a juke around you kind of rusher. IDK, is he any good as a speed rusher blocker? He seems kind of slow and un-athletic.

Yes, I like watching winners! Also now I have Nebrasketball to watch! There's not enough time to stay up on all these sports so I think the smart move is to let the football program marinate and check back in a couple of years from now. Nebrasketball rebuild might be more interesting. I haven't followed college basketball in forever. Hopefully this adidas scandal brings some cheater programs down and cleans up the sport a bit. Edit. The first INT made me think the offense doesn't practice at full speed. Martinez led Wandale the same as in practice but because Wandale was running faster in the game the throw was behind him. WRs need to run full speed in practice.

It's still TBD. Herbie was able to clearly point out 1 play where our LB went rogue pursuing Fields leaving his side of the field open for a big play by I think Dobbins. That's a quick analysis catching 1 play so you know there are a lot of plays where players are not doing their assignments. I think every game the commentators have pointed out at least 1 WTF play from our defense- players, not scheme. Also, I think the defensive line looked very low effort tonight. When I see players performing per scheme and the scheme is obviously failing them ala Pelini then I'll start calling for coach's heads.

NIU was the only game where we looked somewhat how we should. OSU could have piled up 70 had they wanted. We aren't improving. It's better if we face facts and move forward with that knowledge rather than pretend we are something other than what we are. We've tried the excuse thing for too many years. Let's try something else.

Exactly why the game mattered. By year 2 we should be able to show some improvement over the Riley and Pelini years. To me there is no indication that this program is moving forward. Frost saying that he knows that the team is headed upward is the only thing that makes it believable. Not so much that I believe him but I hope that Frost being a winner will eventually rub off on the team. BTW, I think 1 or 2 wins from NW, Indy and PU will be lucky.

On the plus side we now have a coach that isn't an a$$ or a buffoon and is a Nebraskan that a lot of Nebraska kids would want to play for. #FrostEffect

I don't think you bring in Nebraska kids unless they are good enough. First you got to get the high school football talent level elevated. That's not going to happen unless more kids are allowed to play football. I think the whole CTE thing has caused a lot of irrational fear in Nebraska which was already at a disadvantage due to it's low population. The shift in demographics from rural to urban areas of Nebraska hasn't helped either. Less teams and therefore less players participating.

No but I do think a well motivated walkon can develop into a better player then a less motivated highly ranked recruit. I think having a lot of home state players can form a base of pride for a team. Look at Wisconsin's roster. A lot of players from Wisconsin. Iowa has a lot of players from Iowa. We need both good, respected players and walk-ons from Nebraska. Most Nebraskans are probably concerned about their sons getting brain damage from football so I'm not holding out much hope for this to happen. We want a good team but imported from out of state. Not going to work.

What do you suspect the problem is? I see a team that doesn't have a lot of pride if they are willing to get embarrassed like tonight. A lack of pride for the N on their helmet makes for a less than dedicated player that doesn't properly prepare themselves for these games. Hopefully having more walkon Nebraska kids will help other players realize how special it is to represent Nebraska.

We aren't as talented as OSU but other teams with less or equal talent as us can magically compete with OSU. Our talent deficiency with OSU doesn't explain what we just witnessed. Something else is going on. What happened with the 2 players suspended indefinitely earlier this year? I hope it's a sign Frost is fixing the culture, whatever the something is.

weed? This is about the only thing left that I can think of that makes sense. Talent deficiency doesn't explain it. Multiple coaching staffs indicate coaching isn't the problem. Something is going on.
