  1. I'm glad the O finally moved the ball and got on the board, but I don't like our strategy of throwing it every down.
  2. If Nebraska is going to win a couple things need to happen: 1. Win the turnover battle. Wisky doesn't make many, but the blackshirts have to force some mistakes and the offense needs to minimize them. 2. The defense also needs to make some key stops. We're probably not going to shut down the running game, but forcing field goals and getting a couple stops on 3rd down will go a long way. 3. Special teams need to be special, or at least average. Got to win field position. Sounds simple, unfortunately Wisconsin has been good at playing consistent football without beating themselves for 20+ years while Nebraska has been the model of finding ways to lose.
  3. Just when you think it can't get worse...
  4. These guys have to start making game changing plays like that when they get the opportunity.
  5. I think coaches get into a mentality that, "we don't want to be predictable if X guy comes in". Oz has proved to be a good inside runner that gets yards after contact so you think an inside zone or read play wouldn't have done worse. Could have also motioned a WR in the backfield to be a pitch man too. It's always been my opinion that backs like Oz or Cross are good players, they just need put in position to succeed.
  6. No, he knew what he walked into and has stressed that this is a building process and knows where this is headed. You can tell what this means to him and good days are ahead.
  7. This year is going to be rough. I don't care about a bowl game I just want to see some improvement from here on out. A win next week would be a big step in the right direction.
  8. Frost is not going to change his scheme. If we wanted I formation power football Frost shouldn't have been the guy. He's a spread up tempo guy and the offense will get better with some more speed guys and the longer these guys play in the system. It's all about repetition and learning the right keys and reads.
  9. If there's any shot to get the Michigan D on their heels they have to dial up a keeper for Martinez. It's probably already a moot point.
  10. So the coaches have schemed wide open players and we're 0-2 executing... now another bonehead play wow....
  11. 1. If you're in Vegas, Bentley's is a wonderful place to watch the Huskers! 2. This year is going to be tough to watch, but I'm confident better days are ahead.
  12. I know this wasn't a Chinander quote, but thought it should to be included in the discussion. Man I love this staff!
  13. It sure felt familiar when Bell fumbled on the opening drive. I decided to do some research and sure enough Nebraska has turned the ball over on the opening drive 15 times since 2008 with a record of 4-11. I have no idea how this compares with other teams, but it sure doesn't seem like a good trend. I don't see it continuing, but thought it was interesting/depressing. *Turnover on first offensive play 2008: Iowa State W 35-7 OU L 62-28 * Kansas State W 56-28 2009: Iowa State enough said... * 2010: South Dakota State W 17-3* Washington Holiday Bowl L 19-7 2012: Wisconsin B1G Championship* 2013: Mich. St. L 41-28 Iowa L 38-17 2016: Northwestern W 24-13 Ohio State L 62-3 2017: Oregon L 42-35* NIU L 21-17 Wisconsin L 38-17 2018: Colorado L 33-28
  14. So I'm a little late to the party, I finally watched it New Years Day (a good way to kick off 2018 though). I thought it was great and I'll try to keep my pros/cons list short since most of opinions have already been shared. Pros: - I really enjoyed The Force Awakens, but felt that it followed the story line of A New Hope a little too close. The Last Jedi stayed true to the Star Wars of old, but did it's own thing too. It was a good balance (maybe I'm too picky). - Special effects and filming were fantastic. - I liked the humor thrown in here and there. Not too much, and executed well. Like @Redux said the whole wait two years for Luke to grab the light saber just to throw it over his shoulder was great IMO. - Along with the last point, the whole Poe/Hux back and forth right away was gold. - As others have said, the Luke hologram, Rey/Ren battle with Snoke's guard, and blasting through the First Order's fleet at light speed were fantastic! Cons: - They had like 5 chances to kill Leia, but she lives and Luke dies. It was almost like they were trolling us. I kept thinking, "great, here it comes" and her flying through space back to the ship was... just weird. - I didn't mind the casino scene and Fin/Rose subplot, but it could have been cut in half. - Probably reaching, but it would have been cool for them to have Obi Wan's force ghost come to the island along with Yoda's, especially since he also had an apprentice turn.
  15. 5-3 Iowa - BC Purdue - Arizona Michigan State - Washington State Northwestern - Kentucky Ohio State - USC Penn State - Washington Wisconsin - Miami Michigan - South Carolina Some good match ups this year in my opinion. I really think the Holiday, Cotton, and Orange should be entertaining.
  16. I expect we'll see several players put in better position to succeed and our talent level will look 5 times better. Similar to Burkhead in Cincinnati and Burkhead in New England. Not expecting miracles, but bowl eligibility shouldn't be a problem and 7-9 wins isn't out of the question.
  17. It's the most wonderful time of the year!
  18. Beam me up Scotty I-80 Octane
  19. I hope it happens. I'm sure there are plenty of assistant's and staff that can cover recruiting to let him finish it out.
  20. Scott deserves to celebrate with his team and I hope that he gets to coach the bowl game even though I know it's highly unlikely.
  21. Spread and up tempo. There's lot of zone read looks and run pass options with swing routes and outside WR screens. Then off of those concepts come the big plays downfield. He tries to get guys in space running or throwing passes near the L.O.S. then when the defense bites hard they sneak a WR or TE right behind them. The passing game is less about reading coverages and zones and more about scheming guys into wide open spaces.

    Burkhead

I was so happy that the Patriots picked up Rex. Not only because I'm a Pats fan, but I knew Belichick/McDaniels would actually know how to use him.
  23. Is anybody else watching Frank Soulich's team playing tonight?
