  1. 2/3 is over exaggeration and while, yes, we need a steady stream of 4 stars into our program, they aren't going to be competition for spots if they aren't going to work on the field or in class. It is easier than ever to bring in replacement disgruntled 4 star dudes from other programs and that actually may end up being part of our blueprint for success. I think Frost and co probably had reservations about all of the 2020 guys that have left, hell, look at Francois on signing day. But had they quit recruiting them the narrative would have been just as bad 8 months ago. I am not mad at this staff for swinging hard for difference makers and working hard to get them to campus and making them stick. This staff, unlike previous ones, has actually shown they will find guys in other places to come in and replace the departures. I think a lot of this panic is based on watching guys leave under other staffs and then watching those spots stay empty and basically creating self imposed sanctions.. This staff has shown time and time again over the past 3 years they will find another rabbit in the hat.
  2. I'm sure the invite still stands.
  3. I think you would be surprised.
  4. Like everybody will say, no such thing as moral victories.. That said, there is a such thing as demoralizing defeats, and if we would have laid and egg like we did last week and come out today and got the doors blown off by 40 giving up 350 yrds rushing and only gaining 150 yards on O, we actually might see the type of team implosion that would cost SF the gig. The boys did play hard today, and I am sad for them that it didn't put a W in the column.. That said, they need to really focus on what that game felt like, because that is how brutal it feels week in and week out in the B10, and they better get acclimated to that feeling. That needs to be the rule, not the exception, before we will ever consistently build towards multiple W's in the column.
  5. The good news about the transfer portal is that there are a lot of kids out there who feel they would have a better chance playing for someone else so it does give us a better chance of replacing guys with the wrong attitude with guys that have a better one. Sucks to lose guys, but you can't make them stay if they don't want to, so while I would say, yes, it is on the coaches when this happens, it is also on them to go out and fix it. So, get out there boys and find some talent to come in and replace the diva's.
  6. I've heard this in regards to every coach that has ever done a post game presser. I am so sick of this complaint. There is nothing they can say that can make you happy with a loss. There is nothing they can say that won't come bite them in the a$$ later on after a win. They can't win these pressers yet we still demand to hear from them about everything that went right and wrong every.. single..week.. And then twice during the week as well. Just quit complaining about the sound bits because we wish there was more substance to them. There is no substance. Ever.
  7. Same.. Waiting to see who it suited up on the field in a half an hour.
  8. No need to pump breaks.. Us fans know, just need an OC who can call the plays that work. Has to be somebody smart out there that can design a gameplan around a mediocre offensive line featuring running backs with poor vision using a few trick plays here and there from a QB that can't throw over 10 yards downfield to receivers that either don't know the route or can't create separation. Sadly, to some that seems a more realistic option than just letting these men mature a bit more. It's a bummer because we all want the quick fix but there is no quick fix for what is on the field currently. Bottom line, we are a poor football team this year back to looking for small signs of trending improvement as opposed to the break out we all want so badly.
  9. Wonder if we just came up with 60 scripted plays...
  10. There is a reason they revert back to Wandale at RB.. It is BECAUSE the offense is struggling and part of that is because the other backs aren't getting it done. Wandale almost always finds a crease to get upfield through. He is the only one that does that. So yes, it is a kick in the knee that the smallest most dynamic back is also the best at running between the tackles but that is what it is. Mill's lacks the vision. Hopefully Scott or Rhamir have it because we need somebody back there not named Wandale, but it is what it is. You need a RB to create yards? You need Wandale in this current version of offense.
  11. Maybe bring back ice cream sundaes as a more positive reinforcement approach?
  12. Records are the same.. You can believe anything you want about the programs, but at the end of the day the only concrete difference is perception. OSU perceived to always be a wasteland of college football vs blueblood NU. People expect OSU to be bad so when they are 1-3 in the Pac12, it's "trending toward improvement," When NU is 1-3 in the Big10, it's then end of the world we will never win another game. Fact's indicated that OSU currently no closer to being nationally relevant than NU, which in itself is a discussion, but I'm not interested in pining for a QB that was beat out here 3 years ago and a non-productive receiver on a team that is no better than the one I am currently puking over.
  13. In fairness, Gebbia was legitimately beaten out 3 seasons ago by AM and chose to make a move to benefit himself. 2 years of backup role later he now looks good, but it isn't fair to use today's results to judge events that happened 3 years ago. Maybe he would have stayed and would be starting for us today? Maybe Verduzco would have ruined him too. If ifs and buts and all that jazz. Avery Roberts also left, not because we made him, but because he wanted to. Wish him all of the success in the world. Tyjon Lindsey is not helping OSU win anything right now. He is still not the star he thought he was 3 years ago. Lightbourn's and Przystup's stats are identical, so we aren't missing him either. They may be 1-2 plays from being undefeated right now according to you, and yet, they are stuck on the same 1 win so far this year that we are.
  14. Don't tell his feet in the pocket.....
  15. Everybody loves to say this but we are playing the younger talent A LOT and so if you are in this camp, then you have to take your medicine when it is dished up, as it was yesterday. Bunch of freshman and RS frosh turning the ball over 5 times.... That's an "L" in any game on any Saturday. So, you can't scream to play the youth and then be pissed when the youth misfire so often it leads to an L. I am in the play the youth camp 100% but when things like yesterday happen, I look at myself in the mirror and say, "that's what you asked for, hopefully the gamble works over the next 2-3 years."
  16. Luke didn't get worse. Luke has only been playing the position for like, 3 years. He is here because we are the largest program that promised him a legit shot at QB. Doesn't appear his career will be from behind center and hopefully he can see that because Scott won't pull a bait and switch. Adrian regressed no doubt, but honestly, a year behind last years offensive line is enough to ruin any young QB, just like the last two games are very likely to set McCaffrey back quite a margin. While I am as upset as everybody at Scott continuing to prove he was not polished enough for B10 football and has miles of growing to do, it doesn't change the fact that the program was in dire straights when he got here. He started with a true frosh QB behind a mediocre but generally experienced line. Took a chance his second cycle on an inexperienced QB with a nice ceiling expecting to have a 3 year startedr to play behind while said QB gained practice and experience. He then brought in another highly ranked QB in his 3rd cycle. Now, second year QB gets stuck behind a horribly young O-Line and it messes with his head. May have ruined him forever, we will never know. So his hand is forced in year 3 to put another very green QB in when he really didn't want to because he wasn't ready. So now that backfired and may have messed with his head too. The only hope is that AM has found focus on the pine and seizes the role from here and never looks back but you'd probably have as good of odds of throwing Smothers to the wolves and hoping to hit the lottery there. Defense is a similar bag.. No upperclassman leadership to speak of which lends itself to huge motivational swings rooted in emotion more than just experience doing your damn job. Reinventing the wheel there with a new DC or scheme isn't going to reap rewards for another 2-3 years, so your still better off forging ahead with what is in place and praying maturity at several levels fixes some things. Schemes schmemes, at some point you need dudes who are going to get off blocks and fill gaps each and every down, and they need to trust that the man next to them is going to do the same.
  17. One thing we did learn is that Scott does not have a bias in favor of Adrian. We learned that he is able to look for help no matter which position commands the assessment. We also learned that he wasn't necessarily wrong in his assessment. Luke is not head and tails better than Adrian and Scott just sticking with his guy. Scott has been accused of this a lot since coming here at various positions and I think he has shown again and again, the best players are on the field, nobody is night and day better and sitting on the bench due to whatever nefarious factors people dream up. We also learned that while Scott can objectively look at QB play, we objectively have 2 average QB's in year 3 and there might be some shade to be thrown there if we are looking for new places to throw it.
  18. And Adrian once through a pass to himself for a safety.. Young QB's need time to learn.
  19. Maybe.. I'm going on almost 2 decades of watching horrible QB play here so maybe it's just par for the course?
  20. You may be right.. Sickens me we have a QB room full of 4star QB prospects and yet none that we trust to throw a down field pass.
  21. Yep, because AM is a 3 year started and we expect more from him. We also expect more from Luke. Which one do you think has the better chance of brining more to the table in the future if we concede that they both would have looked identical in todays game?
