  1. I don't blame AM at all, nobody could do anything with the in game situations he is dealing with.. That said, he is Frosts golden boy so I think it is reasonable to watch this play out a bit. It won't look real good if other things start hitting on their cylinders and QB continues to be a weak link and changes there aren't considered. That said, there is a long way to go before other areas are considered functional enough to judge QB play imo.
  2. Honestly, I think this would be a godsend for Nebraska. There is no doubt one of the few pulls to NU is the rabid fan base, its a place where you get to be a celebrity the entire 4 years you are here if you are good enough, which also means its a place where you can cash in on that celebrity if legal. We lost our place among the college elite in the recruiting game and don't have much to draw from to bring it back.. The southern schools have all the intangible advantages that, when the NCAA forces and "even" field cause the northern schools in low population areas to struggle. This would be a huge boost to what NU could offer as an "intangible" all while playing within the NCAA's perceived fairness rules.
  3. Penalties and turnovers are things that happen much more often to the inferior team due to discrepancies in size and athleticism. The "curse" speaks more to our position as the inferior team over the past decade more than it does to a voodoo hex. It's also why Scott won't get it fixed until we are the more formidable team on the field.
  4. 0.89, 0.81, 0.97, 0.98, 0.86 0.87, 0.76, unrated at position, 0.85, 0.89 Fun game called, "blindly choose your o-line."
  5. Also, they come out of high school rated a lot more highly and those rating attest both to overall projected top end talent and also, a large degree, to college readiness.
  6. Actually at the game last night. My entire life I don't leave early, it is just what I have done in every game I have gone to for 20 years. As I've gotten older with children and a job, it gets harder and harder to stay in some of these games because I have yards to mow and laundry to fold, etc. Last night when it started to feel like USC 2007, I was crushed and thought, "I can just head out and not have to sit here through this." But I decided that wasn't fair. I decided that there were other people in the stadium that would probably like to be anywhere else a lot more than I would, namely the d-line and the o-line. I told myself that if they quit like they have in the past, I would be justified in quitting as well.. They never quit, and I honestly would have taken any sign of quit as my ticket out, but they never quit. So, I watched OSU with a second string QB advance down the field against our second string guys and V formation on the 15 and was thankful that our guys never quit and that OSU did "quit" and didn't try to put another one in the zone.
  7. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/mike-leach-calls-washington-state-players-fat-dumb-happy-and-entitled-after-ugly-loss/ar-AAI1dr1?li=BBnb7Kz Scott could completely rip the players and throw them under the bus like some coaches do. I know we all love Leechbites, but I am not sure ultimately that would play in the positive way we would want. Glad Scott keeps it above the belt and constructive, even if it does get old to hear.. Also glad it isn't me having to come up with kind explanations for the current circus week in and week out.
  8. Nobody is coming here because we are Bama.. As it sits right now, they are either coming here because we have a wholesome, loyal, honest coaching staff, a very cool, safe small city atmosphere, fan support that makes you an instant celebrity should you excel, a history that allows that all to be meaningful on a national stage, early playing time opportunities, and a desire at a chance to be a part of the great rebuild.. If that kind of thing doesn't appeal to you as a recruit, then Lincoln doesn't appeal to you as a recruit. I get that it would have been great to show out well last night in order to not scare off some of the fringe guys that were thinking about making the leap and needed to see some momentum that it is actually headed that way, but the guys listening to us in October are not guys that have Bama/OSU/Clemson on their radar's anyway. If Slusher legitimately felt like mocking the situation, then he isn't the type of guy that is wanting to put in the work it is going to take here. Let him fly high on the west coast where, ultimately, nothing you do matter anyway because you aren't playing for titles there either and nobody knows your name in the meantime.
  9. They absolutely did.. When the d line arrives 2 seconds after the high and outside snap does, makes it tough for even Aaron Rodgers to find and track the open man. Amart is incredible but he is not a god that defies all the basic's of football.
  10. Ya.. Again, I am not sure what people want here. Austin says we have 7-8 guys to rotate everybody hears, "We have 7-8 all americans on the O line." What we have is what we have, and it isn't pretty but there is no magic that makes these boys amazing. They are all, ALL, overmatched against a team like OSU, and it shows. They matchup better against mediocre teams because...… They are mediocre. The truth is, we are a mediocre team and it is hell to watch that play out against an elite team because we so badly want to believe we are anything but mediocre. So we scream for coaches heads and backups because surely there is an easy answer to this, right?!? There isn't.. It's a brutal rebuild in big boy football.
  11. Ohio State, where character is Urban legend.
  12. I agree there are still some bad snaps, but he's jumping for most snaps even the good ones. And I also agree with previous comments that games 2 and 3 were more consistent that game 4 was.
  13. So why does it seem that Adrian still jumps to receive pretty much all of them? Is there some advantage to doing so or is this just PTSD from week on on his part?
  14. Another thing I can't get a great read on is the culture/SandC things. I have always assumed there was a base level of competitive spirit and a base level of dedication to lifting/improving in all college programs. Maybe there is, maybe there isn't, I will probably never know for certain. Because of that, it is hard for me to say if what we are seeing is a lifting/losing culture that was far worse than most NCAA programs and therefore more difficult to dig out of as opposed to a basic NCAA program like a CU or Maryland. I mean, if it was really fritos and ice cream and show up willy nilly for game day here, that is so so so bad. If that is all an exaggeration and we were at least basic functional in those regards, makes it seem more like its another excuse. In the end it doesn't matter too much, WE can't change the timeline for improvement, we have to just trust that Frost and Co can change that.
  15. He put it in our best players hand the down prior and he failed to even evade the rush and throw the ball out of bounds, let alone try to make a play to convert the down. OT was lost in the conservative first 2 play calls netting 2 yards. Hindsight is a bitch, but pretending the Martinez on the field yesterday was odds on any more able to convert on that last play over the kicker is wishful at best. At that point in the game, we had a 0.00007%chance to send it into double OT, which we would have most likely lost anyway.
  16. Not trying to discredit Saban at all, but he does have the luxury at this point of having NFL talent across the board. No doubt he built a winner, but the autopilot level of it at this point does not allow for the easiest analysis of actual coaching prowess in the assistant field. Hopefully our organization can get there in the future, but for a "remodel" type project, it absolutely matters that you are able to hire and retain quality coaches as best as you are able.
  17. And since you throw to your tight ends 6 times a season, this has me running scared.
  18. As a parent with kids ages ranging from 11-3, I am not sure what the answer is. While I hate that ultimately you have to have your kids started by the time they are 6, often having to move from low cost YMCA programs to expensive club programs by the time they are 9, I haven't been able to see any alternatives. For me, it is very important that my kids participate in sports, not because I hope that they get any college scholarships, but because of the other things sports bring to the table, ie, structure, discipline, work ethic, heathy strong bodies, exercise habits, etc. Due to the fact that there are literally no "free" or "low cost" options for these kids outside of the volunteer coach based YMCA programs until 7th grade years in school, I feel forced to fall into the expensive club based systems. I have been dedicating a lot of my free time and energy to help revitalize the Abbott sports complex here in Lincoln and it is solely to try to help facilitate more low cost avenues because I am passionate about access to youth sports in America and we are getting further and further away from it. It is a legitimate problem and I am not sure of solutions at this time.
  19. I'm telling you, there won't be the mental letdown's with this years team. The only game we lose is OSU.
  20. Suspect maybe.. Expect is a bit overkill. I can see where it is a bit odd that he hasn't put on more in the year but we have heard nothing about him not putting in the work that has been asked of him. He's 19 and may be one that struggles more to bulk. I'm interested in seeing how the season goes for him. If he's out there for every snap and getting the touches we'd expect him to get, I'd lean more toward a build/metabolism hardship than anything. If we see him spending spells in the doghouse, I would give more credence to him not doing his part. Be a damn shame if he's doing all he can and showing out, feeling bad about it in his own head only to find people putting him on blast for things beyond his control.
  21. Papuchis in this one.. Forgot about that guy completely. What a schmuck.
  22. If that's the case, where do we go to pick up our Natty?
