  1. I think they sit with all the JUCO parents
  2. Whatchu talkin bout Willis? I'm taking the Jayhawks this weekend with the points. Or.. I may just avoid it and see what happens. Be patient.
  3. Good find. I mean people have overreacted to the 1st game. It's the 1st time your playing against another team, so it's given you'll have some kinks to get out, seeing how they haven't played since December. Completely overreacted. It was enough to stay away for a few days until the moaning subsided..
  4. On defense it shows each postion clearly defined. Only at free safety does it show the snazzy "-OR-" next to it. On Watson, I mean offense, many many many "-OR-"...
  5. Helu - Under (barely) Burkhead - Over (barely) Martinez - Over (with some room to spare) Husker penalty yards - 52.5 Over - Husker penalty yards - 52.5 Over/Under: Idaho has 10pts at halftime.

    QB Race

We can all quit guessing. Martinez will start tomorrow. Guaranteed. Link to a Husker coach saying this? He's starting. 99.99% chance of it. I save the .01% chance for some freak injury happening between now and then. Cool.. There's been so many good things being said by players and staff about Martinez.. Just looking forward to watching it all play out tomorrow. I'll admit up until the past few weeks I thought it was going to be Lee. However, if Martinez does not start now/ tomorrow I'm going to reach through the monitor and you & hoya... ha ha just playing. If I could pass a beer through it, now that would be cool
  7. Lets not forget to throw in some good midwest football weather, prolly from the Michigan State game and following. Maybe even some cold stuff heading to Minnesota. Lots of hitting, lots of running, timely passes, forcing turnovers, good coaching, back breaker plays, tough wins, and hopefully no heartbreak losses (hopefully).

    QB Race

Great post. I think everyone outside the Husker huddle (fans) have good reason to have doubts about our QB. Most Husker fans would agree too. Its unfortunate, but right now QB is up for grabs because the staff wants to see who they can trust to get it done out on the field. Its the beginning of the season and we are fortunate to get all three some plays. I think its okay that they are basically "auditioning on the field" so to speak. After last season, the unknown for this season, the potential this team has, the direction they want the offense to take, I think in this particular case its okay (to run all three out there over the next three games). By time Wash comes around with conference play soon after.. We def need to identify a QB that is clearly going to be an asset to the offense and not a liability. Normally QB rotation is bad for a team. We have plenty of reasons to see that its the right thing to do for now.
  9. I tend to agree that, in college football specifically where you play 8 or 9 conf games and you end up playing a second team twice for the CCG, it is less exciting of anticipation then the original matchup. But because of whats at stake, you get pumped up for it regardless. Like, if UT-OU played a second time in a year (biggest game in College Football these days), again I wouldnt be as excited with anticipation, but I would def watch it. I do agree with others, you win the CCG, you are in and thats fair.
  10. That's so freakin RAD! Lovin it! I kind of wish, like some, that we got Penn State for the post Thanksgiving/ Friday game. But still, no Colo, KU, ISU, etc is awesome.
  11. Damn. That's sick. I love it! So freaking tired of us playing KU, KSU, Colo , etc... This sched is a breath of fresh air. Penn State every year? Delicious.
  12. Several things stood out to me, like TMartinez and Carnes (positive stuff) and ZLee (not so positive) but especially the LB position on Compton and Martin. Seems pretty clear the 2 LB spots are going to be the achilles heel as we start the season. Hopefully Lavonte David can do some good things out there.

    QB Race

11 pages?? Beefy I'm curious enough to read through it tonight. It sounds to me they want the guys competing through the first few games to 1) find out who is clearly the guy 2) have the #2 backup clearly decided and ready avail Its not difficult to see that these guys will get quality snaps. My guess is you will see the second guy come in at some point during the first quarter for a few series, then the starter will return. The third guy might come in for some series in the second qtr. I'm sure they are figuring when to pepper each one in. Most definitely the second half for sure. Should be fun to see! #1: ZLee #2 TMartinez #3 CGreen
  14. Yeah that's what I immediately thought (PACKERS).. Like everyone mentions, its very subtle
  15. I like Caputo a lot at Center, but wow, there isnt a backup. Not with game experience. Even from G/T that could slide over if needed.
  16. Thats great to hear. I hope all three get some snaps the first few games for sure. Most second year starters tend to have a better follow up season.. at all positions. I think what could be the biggest decision this season is if the starter clearly struggles and it affects the offense during a game. Does he stay in and they show support for him to battle through it? Or do they make a move and put in the next guy? I really hope the coaches are practicing those tough decisions on paper. They need to prepare and be sharp to make an instant decision that they can stand behind. Cause last year it seemed they were at a loss & didnt know what to do. Personally, if the talent & competitiveness is about the same, I would sit the starter and insert the backup. I'm all for showing encouragement for a starter that is struggling, but everyone in the nation knows the biggest question the Huskers have this year is at QB. The coaching staff cannot sit back and allow the team, or the season for that matter, to be handcuffed on offense by lack of making tough decisions at QB. Def not this year.
  17. Feels more and more accurate now that I've had some time to marinate in the thought of us at #9... It feels about right.
  18. Word. Good stuff man.. Compared to the last 5+ or whatever seasons, this is so friggin refreshing
  19. I really dig the idea of Gomes at Safety.. I like it a lot
  20. Had mixed feelings at first.. But totally McLovin it now
  21. I look around and there really isnt a handful of dominating teams this season as we've seen over the past 5+ years. Most of the stud QBs are gone, USC is going through chaos, and besides Bama as the returning champs, why not lump the Huskers in with the rest (Iowa, Boise State, etc). Besides, preseaon polls are just a guessing game. Full of fun and debatable stuff for all fans. Lets kick it off!
  22. Yeah, right, because remember all those games that Lee won for the huskers. I mean really, WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT LEE????? ZZZZOMG!!! Nobody else could make those perfect throws, could say "hike" and take the snap like him. Hand off the ball with such confidence. It was a thing of beauty to see him flailing around in the backfield, launching duck after duck in what could be generally considered the right direction. Or how about all those times he made tacklers miss him in the backfield to gain a few extra seconds. Or maybe those many times when he bulled his way through a defender to get that critical first down. seriously, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? WHAT DOES HE DO WELL???? WHAT HAS HE EVER DONE WELL, OR WITH CONSISTENT SUCCESS?? I submit that anybody who defends Lee or Watson for starting him in spite of his obvious inability to perform the basic functions required by the position should have their Big Red Football Fan card pulled, or at least have their status changed from "legit" to "questionable". Are you REALLY a Nebraska fan? if so, how do you justify suggesting that this fraud should be the starter? On second thought, don't bother. There is no justification IMO aside from plain old "glass-half-full" thinking, which goes around here like a hooker on Leavenworth street. Summary: It's at least arguable that a trained monkey could have been as effective last season. I have my Big Red Football Fan card right here dawg, come tug it.. lol I do get what you are saying, I'm skeptical big time. But also hopefull. Have to be. Going completely by injury and a year of experience on the field. Who else can you possible say is going to lead the Huskers and why? Cause I tell you this, those other dudes that Lee is competing against arent better. Martinez hasnt seen the field. Green did not play well with his opportunity. Spano was hurt. The offense was up in arms last year, and with all the questions and concerns, nobody had an answer. Not Watson, not Bo, not Cotton... So yeah last year sucked. Regroup, get past it. Lee is healthy this year and deserves to be the front runner. They got a month of practices and a bunch of cozy games to get it going and someone has to be playing great and clearly the best QB out there come conference time. Or it will be a repeat of what we saw last year.... and that would suck.
  23. Pretty consistent excitement and praise on both sides (NU/Big10). I prefer 8 games, but 9 is better than some OMG the helmets at the top of the board.. I just noticed that! Haha hell yeah its the Big 10 brotha! Sweet! 8 or 9 thats cool too!
