  1. I fully expect a couple of the young linebackers to be playable fairly early so it won't shock me at all if we see a bit of Bando on the edge in 3rd and long situations.
  2. We don't need to switch to Nike, with Nike we are just one of many. We are Addidas top brand and what we need to do is get Addidas to step up and understand how college football works and hold an annual camp on campus here the way Nike does at Oregon and Ohio State. If they held an "Addidas top 100" camp for the top prospects on Nebraska's campus it would go a long way both for the program and their brand.
  3. Pretty sure we beat the team that won the east this past year.
  4. Angus McClure and Chris Kiffin come with the added benefit of being recruiting coordinators for UCLA and Ole Miss, respectively. Should help with any recruits we're going head-to-head with those schools for. For the life of me, I can't remember who serves in that capacity now for Nebraska.... Can someone help me out? I may be wrong but I believe since Bruce Read does not recruit it allows Andy Vaughn to be our recruiting coordinator as well as be able to personally meet with and recruit players when they are on campus.
  5. This shouldn't be this hard. If a defender goes high, leaves their feet or lunges into the head/neck area of an already exposed offesive player it should be a penalty on the defender. If the offensive player lowers their head into the tackle zone (ie. chest level), leans their head into a defender (ie. trucking) or extends themselves horizonally into contact it should be a penalty on the offensive player. If none of those occured it is considered incidental contact and no penalty should be assesed, if both players are deemed to be resposible offsetting penalties are enforced and both players may be ejected. Do that and the problem will fix itself pretty quickly.
  6. It looks like he was hired as a Quality Control Asst, not as a Grad Asst so he will get a paycheck. If this is true it is a pretty crappy hire. He's even lower on the totem pole than a GA then. GA's are able to coach during practices and you are limited to 4 of them. Quality Control guys aren't allowed to coach at all and you can hire as many as you want. Basically they are the guys that prepare film cutups for scouting, print/edit playbooks, callsheets, practice cards and other computer work for the staff and stand around practice with a tablet tracking statistics. Basically an office support staff position.
  7. Do people not know what graduate assistants are? GA's don't get paid, instead they get a scholarship to take graduate classes at that school in order to work towards an advanced degree. For that scholarship they put in 60 hours (or more) a week working for the coaching staff. GA's are effectively grad students who are getting an internship for college level coaching. So of course most GA's are coaches kids or former players.. those are the people most likely trying to get into coaching.
  8. I think LSU has known for a while he was OSU bound since they started making a run at Anthony Russo until something during the in-home visit scared them off.
  9. Richt had top talent at Georgia too. He may win a few more games since the acc is crap but if he couldn't beat good teams at Georgia what makes Miami different?
  10. You can do this with nearly any class. Heck look at Bo's "best" class... by ranking that would be 2011. -A class built coming off the pasting of Arizona in the Holliday Bowl and which this past seasons roster in theory should have as it's core backbone. The top 10 recruits in 2011 according to some of the recruitniks at the time Aaron Green Jamal Turner Charles Jackson Bubba Starling Ryan Reeves Kevin Williams Todd Peat David Sutton David Santos * and that list doesn't even count 4 star hypes like Tyler Moore or Ryan Klatchko Of the top 10 only Williams is a core guy at Nebraska and he's a backup. As for the class as a whole you have One stud in Ameer Abdullah, a small handful of contributors still playing (Williams, Carter and Sterup) and a couple solid guys that graduated (Bondi and Stafford) The majority of this "top 15" class either flamed out, bailed, or just never showed up. Thank god for Ameer.
  11. Dirk is great at the human interest and fluff stories of sports writing... but when he tries to actually write about actual football related topics he usually fails. This is just one more.
  12. You are in luck as I am checking the board from my phone atm and took one. Edit Not sure why it is uploading upside down? did you point your fone to the north when you downloaded it? I don't wven know what you mean.. so I'll go with I did whichever is the one not to do?

  14. Depends on how we play. Will say after watching both multiple times, if both teams bring their "A" game. Nebraska is better.
  15. After Bo's meltdown at NDSU yesterday, Mike Riley. If I was a betting man, I'd bet your farm and mine on that. So, is there any chance at all that if Bo gets fired from his YSU job, that could somehow free NU from having to pay him any more. It seems that if he is fired for cause there, that ought to be 'cause' for us to quit paying him too. After all, his YSU salary is used to reduce our obligation so why wouldn't his YSU dismissal also be a dismissal for cause for us as well under some legal theory of equitable subrogation and mitigation principles. After all, we are only obligated to keep paying, presumably because he was terminated without cause entitling him to continued compensation. My head hurts.
  16. I'll be in my usual seat cheering the team, booing the refs and heckling those that leave early. And if people are dumb enough to give up their season tickets at the end of one lousy year, I'll be doing the exact same thing next season in better seats.
  17. We had 9 players total available to play 7 positions on D. Shove the Minnesota had injuries excuse.
  18. You're right. Those two games were exactly the same situation. Exactly. No, but we wanted them to burn their timeouts. If we tried passing on third down and don't get it, people would still bitch. They were in a lose-lose situation no matter what they did if they didn't get a first down. No, you simply don't seem to have a clue about situational football. And apparently neither does our coaching staff.
  19. Was nothing but a big FU to the fanbase from Langsdorf. I can't see any other justification for that.
  20. #1 only works if it is indeed luck. Miami maybe if you stretch dropped balls in as bad luck but BYU and definately Illinois were far more about a complete lack of competent clock management than it was luck.
  21. OU is irrelevant in terms of wins. It isn't inconeivable however that we could pass Texas in overall wins very soon if things go well.
  22. If maxpreps is right he is up to 305 rushing yards. So if he was at 228 after 4 games, he ran for 77 yards last game.
