  1. Well-written piece. If anyone reading this thread is a climate-skeptic, then I encourage you to at least read what a conservative and recent climate-skeptic thinks are the most convincing points. Here's a couple excerpts:
  2. Your post is about business practices/necessities but does not in any way refute the post you quoted: "Unfortunately large corporations are beholden to their shareholders and no one else." So I'm confused that you think it addresses the original post. What am I missing?
  3. I think you're missing my point, which is that "less people should go to college" is not the solution to "college is expensive", "our economy is poorly structured for getting everyone a degree", or "jobs aren't paying what we expect for a college degree". BRB does a good job of addressing my point:
  4. I absolutely hate this idea that getting an education should somehow be restricted. It's lunacy to want a less-educated society - we should want MORE people to go to college. The fact our economy has a flawed hiring system doesn't mean we should restrict educating our population - it means the hiring system should be fixed.
  5. This might be the worst take I've seen all season. AM is more calm and cool in the pocket than any Husker QB I can remember. Plus he's extremely elusive and uses his feet to get out of trouble frequently. Before you continue your complaining about Martinez, you might want to take a gander at his stats - you know, the where he put up the best true frosh season ever at NU. I haven't taken the time to look at his numbers compared to first-year starters at NU, but I'm betting he's pretty high up that list too. RUSHING GP-GS Att Gain Loss Net Avg TD Long Avg/G -------------------------------------------------------------- Adrian Martinez 11-11 140 847 218 629 4.5 8 53 57.2 PASSING GP-GS Effic Cmp-Att-Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G ------------------------------------------------------------------ Adrian Martinez 11-11 139.46 224-347-8 64.6 2617 17 75 237.9
  6. McBride used to give all the seniors on defense a Blackshirt before the final regular season game, so I assume that's what this is about.
  7. I had a good day with my family and my wife's extended fam. My son and I made a pumpkin pie filling from scratch (using sugar pumpkins) that turned out great - and we had a good time making it and then telling the tale of how we struggled with the store-bought pie crust. Hopefully everyone had a chance to spend time with their loved ones.
  8. Just lobbying against it won't work for long either. They need real change, which I think can only happen by single payer.
  9. Another good example of why the CDC should be funded to allow gun-related health research. Unfortunately our Republican politicians are already bought by the gun lobby.
  10. Landlord has already taken care of my sentiment, so I'll just make my call of the Huskers winning 31-20.
  11. ColoradoHusk already mentioned NPV adjustment, but Riley is supposed to be taking over as HC of a new XFL-like football team, so the projected salary of that job may have also reduced the payout.
  12. Yeah, I think talent is much more important on defense than offense, and we need a lot more talent on defense than what we have. I don't recall a single time a Husker has been trying to punch out a ball while being carried for 25 yards. Maybe you have an example, but I think that's more hyperbole than actual concern. Nebraska won't make a bowl game, so trying to imagine the Huskers competing with Clemson or Alabama is wild speculation on any of our parts. You can look at our performance against tOSU to get some idea though it's a small sample size. I think the better way to approach defensive philosophy is to try and compare our defense to teams with similar talent. I don't know of a site that breaks down roster talent between offense and defense, just the recruiting sites that do it for each class.
  13. It sounds like a better recipe than letting them kick a FG. The question isn't whether the coaches want a dominant defense - of course they'd prefer that - but what their philosophy is. Getting the ball back to the offense is a better priority than limiting yards in an alternate possession game.
  14. I'm not sure I understand the concern. In an alternate possession game, shouldn't the #1 priority of a defense be getting the possession back to it's offense?
  15. Plus Les is passed his prime. If KU hires Les Miles, it'll be Charlie Weis 2.0
  16. Probably won't hear about the caravans false-narrative for quite a while. So meet back here in 2020 when it becomes a political talking point again?
  17. It's interesting that you see liberal vs conservative as a fight and needing allies. Why is sticking tightly to an ideology so important? Can we not just discuss the issues regardless of ideology? I don't care if an issue, idea, etc. is liberal or conservative or whatever - judge it on it's merits.
