  1. From experience...I have coached six kids in the last five years who are now on scholarship and playing for Power Five schools...Iowa, Wisconsin, Iowa State, TCU and Michigan State. Nebraska only talked with one of them and that was because his father was a former Husker. Maybe it's time to look at work ethic and potential instead of stars and rankings?
  2. Frost, Frost, Frost...meh. Nebraska can't afford Frost. The school is still paying off Pelini and will be paying off Eichorn or whatever the old AD's name was, not to mention the millions what Riley and his staff will be collecting along with whatever salary Moos is going to be bringing down over the next year or two. You're looking at a dollar output of at least a couple million a year just paying off bad decisions. You think you can afford to throw a couple million more on top of that (believe me...Frost wouldn't come cheap) while dealing with falling revenue and general apathy from most of the rest of college football toward the Nebraska brand? Frost isn't stupid. He's in a great position right now. I believe he is the highest paid head coach in a non power five conference. He's in the middle of prime recruiting grounds and if he stays where he is, I think the school will be snapped up in the next round of conference expansions and he'll be a Power Five coach anyway. You may hear him saying he would like to coach at Nebraska but don't you think he knows that UCF hears him saying it (along with Florida and whoever else may be interested) and maybe getting out the calculators to see how much money they can throw at him for him to stay? Hard as it might be to admit but Nebraska no longer has the money or reputation to pick off a top tier coach and hope they don't get burned (see...Gene Chizik...might be listed under Lying Prick). There are a lot of up and comers in non Power Five and even DII schools who would love a shot at the job. I'd look at places like Troy or Arkansas State or even Appalachia State for my guy.
  3. It's gonna be Craig Bohl...I have inside sources.
  4. According to scientific mathematical calculations, Nebraska is certain to win its next game...see the formula below: L -L W-W L-L W L-L W-W L-L ??? Following the rules of Concurrancy (which I have just made up), the next result will be a W!!! Bet the house people!
  5. Thats it! Stickers for the helmets! Why didn't I see this before? All great teams have players with little stickers all over their helmets!
  6. Here now! I'm an Iowan and I to would like to see Nebraska return to college football relevancy...just glad modern medicine has extended the average male's life expectancy so maybe I can live long enough to see it.
  7. This is sad to watch...but, like a car crash, I just have to look
  8. We'll be done whipping up on KU in a couple hours. Want us to send some of the players over? Could probably be there by kick off.
  9. Probably result with two or three RB's out for the year. Maybe a tornado?
  10. How long will it take? We just got our first top 25 votes since 2012...that's three coaches ago. Incidentally, we are now ranked 33rd in the country and just waiting for some school to come pick off Campbell and stick us with Criner again...
  11. My studied observations after last night... Lee is not a great QB at this time no matter how hard the B10 Network commentators hype him. He's inconsistent, routinely throws the ball behind receivers and doesn't seem to have much mobility. With a decent set of receivers, he could be good but I don't see it happening. Aside from Big O, there is no running game. Once he's tired, forget it. He is a downhill runner which is fine but Nebraska needs a slasher to keep defenses from stacking the box. I haven't seen it so far. The Husker receivers...can't get separation, can't hang on to the ball and don't block we'll. They are all small and don't have a lot of blazing speed. A reliable possession receiver would help this group out but no one has stepped up. O-line is inconsistent. One play they will look great while on the next play they fall all over themselves. Seem surprised whenever anyone throws a blitz at them. Need to work on foot speed. Actually seem to be improving at pass blocking but they wear down fast. Need more muscle. D-line just seems not to have the power or weight to stop a good run game. The 3-4 doesn't provide any opportunity to get consistent pressure on the QB. Arm tackling when they get tired. Good teams wear them down fast. The linebackers...this unit has gotten run over all year. Can't cover...can't tackle. Force the CB's to come up and make plays they should be making. Once ball carriers reach the second level they run through these guys like Swiss Cheese. Gotta get more athleticism here. DBs are also kinda small and slow. They get burned fairly often and blow coverages at an alarming rate but, generally speaking, they have been fairly decent considering all they have to do. The punter is pretty good. My advice, and remember...this is coming from an ISU graduate...Replace Riley with someone who knows power football and bring in a coaching staff with a proven record of building O and D lines cuz it all starts here Stop recruiting "stars" and start recruiting talent and developing it. Fill any administrative and coaching positions with people tied to the winning years that can bring some pride and winning tradition back to the team. Bring back the fullback...and the triple option Go back to the Big 12. By the way, I am available if you need an interim head coach.
  12. Offer your boatload of money to Ferentz. He coaches power football, develops offensive lineman and knows Nebraska football. Best of all, I think now that he's out of Ferentz kids to give scholarships and has a Ferentz kid ensconced as the Iowa head coach heir apparent, he's probably looking for a new gig. Plus...I hate the guy.
  13. Don't have the horses to compete with the upper tier teams at this time...
  14. n00b?? I'll sink you like a three foot put you whipper snapper! Hopefully the Husker coaching staff noticed what can happen when you shake your lineup around a little bit.
  15. Another dream of National Championship status for a team from Oklahoma dashed...BWAHAHAHAHA! That is all...
  16. I learned that if Rutgers and Illinois play each other this year the game will end in a scoreless tie...
  17. Bring back the Wishbone...invite T.O. to come to the sidelines as an honorary guest coach then fake a heart attack and turn it all over to him.
  18. This guy...he's twice the coach of anybody that's been mentioned
  19. Nebraska brought this on themselves and before you pass judgement, hear me out... I grew up with the Huskers. I remember opening up the paper every Saturday morning looking for that cartoon Harry Husker predicting how bad Nebraska was going to destroy those losers from Missouri or Kansas. Every year another bunch of memorable players...Tagge, Glover, Rogers...everybody wanted to play for the Huskers. Then I grew up and found myself playing against the Huskers. Yes, Cy has stood on your beloved turf and watched the back of Irving Fryar moving away from me at roughly the speed of light after running by my weak attempts at outside containment our kick coverage unit. Honestly, most of us were a little bit in awe of Nebraska and (if you tell anybody I said this I'll have to kill you) perversely proud of those teams that beat the crap out of us once every year. I know at the end of our year, Nebraska would be out there representing for all us other little guys in the conference...showing the rest of the country how real men play football out here on the prairie. After college, I kept following the Huskers (In those days the only way you could follow Iowa State was to live in Ames) through thick and thin. Always checking the scores and stats to make sure all was well with the world...but then, Nebraska jumped the conference, leaving behind tradition and legend to chase the almighty buck. I tried to keep up some enthusiasm for the team but it was a pretty quick ride to apathy...After all the decades of Husker fans laughing at the inferior and wimpy style of football the Big 10 puts on the field and then watching the same people turn around and tell me how much better the Big 10 is, you kind of lose respect for the people involved. Long story short...a lot of people I know who were Husker fans until the conference jump...are actually happy to see the fall from grace. While the Big 12 seemed to be coming apart, we heard from more than a few people on this board that there was no place in any Big 5 Conference for a pathetic school like Iowa State and maybe we should move to the MAC...lots of places that were former Husker strongholds are now cheering for whoever plays against you. You are becoming Iowa State but without the lovable loser image. Accept what you have become, learn from your mistakes and start rebuilding. AND...I just spilled Canadian Club all over my dog....
  20. We've all returned to talk you off the edge. Things could be worse you know! You could...uh...um...hmmm...Well s#!t...you're not Texas. That's a good thin at least.
