    Seeing speculation that the only Fall college sport will be Football, and it's a revenue issue. Apparently lots of programs operate in the red, and if football doesn't make money, they won't be able to field teams in other sports.

      Roast in a crock pot with a can of cream of mushroom soup is one of my favorite meals. Doesn't matter if it's a chuck roast or a pork roast. Super easy, super savory, super good. A side of couscous or stove top stuffing and that's heaven.

       

      And you can pry my crock pot out of my cold, dead hands.

    Anyone sear chicken hindquarter in a pan or on the grill before smoking them?  I hate smoked chicken skin, it is so rubbery.

      AmazingRibs.com has the solution to this problem. They have the solution to every problem involving grills, smokers, or anything BBQ related. I'm pretty sure Meathead and all his mods live atop Mount Olympus and are actually deities. 

       

      In their "Sweet Georgia's Brown Smoked Chicken" recipe, they address the rubbery skin problem, and the solution is pretty simple:

       

      Quote

      Crisp the skin. When you're done smoking, but the meat is slightly undercooked, say 150°F, move it to the direct heat side of a hot grill, skin side down. Or put it under your kitchen broiler skin side up. That should do it. Take it up to 160°F.

       

      Apologies for providing a link to the full recipe. I know some people frown on such things. ;)

    The media seems to be really pushing athletes to attend HBCU’s especially after a 5 Star basketball prospect picks Howard over UCLA. Seems like a one year wonder kind of deal once this blows over but this will be interesting.

    I'm also thinking about ordering a better knife sometime soon, something like a Damascus steel. Anyone have one of those?
