  1. @chamrocck Add 'thinks' to my post or leave it off as you like, it's true either way.
  2. @chamrocck No, not every team is 'better than their record' or 'one play away from winning'. Last year's team, for example, really was every bit as bad as its record. This year's team is not.
  3. For all its problems, this team is nowhere near as bad as its record. Wisconsin was tough, but the only game that was totally out of reach was Michigan. This team is 0-6 when it could easily be more like 5-2. Now if they could just stop finding ways to lose the games they should be winning. Really, in a way it reminds me of Riley's first year: those players were nowhere near as bad as their record. The difference this year is that I still feel like we're heading in the right direction, whereas I never really felt that way when Riley was here.

  5. Ditto Tapatio, a little better than Cholula IMO. Tabasco is too damn vinegary, though their chipotle sauce ain't bad. Shark is my favorite Thai sriracha, especially the 'strong' version, although the American-made Huy Fong rooster stuff is good too. Sometimes I just grab whatever sounds good at the store. The other day I bought a couple bottles of Torched hot sauces that I found on the clearance rack at Home Goods. Pretty good, I might go back & try the other flavors, but I wouldn't pay the regular price for them.
  6. I think the general consensus is that it's fine as long as the player makes first contact, right? That's the way it supposedly was with Vedral.
  7. Freedom seemed just fine as a 4-3 DE...
  8. @rdwoodpecker They already hold practices in the mornings earlier than this, I don't think the starting time will be any problem for the team at all.
  9. What does that average look like if you include Bethune-Cookman?
  10. Out of our current 2-deep LB corps (ie 8 LBs total), only Caleb Tannor was recruited after Banker was fired and we switched to a 3-4. Avery Roberts was our only 4* LB out of the 2017 and 2018 classes, and he's at Oregon State now. We do currently have a commit from 4* ILB Nick Henrich out of Omaha for the 2019 class, but obviously that doesn't help much here and now.
  11. Quick survey for everyone about names being called out: When you see our #2 tackler Dedrick Young playing, which do you more often feel like calling out: "Great play, Young!" or "GFDI, Young!"?
  12. Frankly, just looking at the list of names in the LB corps, my most common reaction is "Who?" Most of them ain't exactly having their names called much. Barry I think we're all pretty happy with right now (as happy as we are with any of the defense, anyway), but that's about it. Gifford has his strengths, but he ain't the kind of pass rusher you want from a 3-4 OLB. Really none of them are, but then, Tannor is the only guy on that whole LB depth chart that was recruited for a 3-4.
  13. We already have them on the schedule, just not for this year. Does appear that Mike Stoops is indeed out, though. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/10/7/17945506/mike-stoops-oklahoma-fired
  14. Uhhhhhh.... read the article linked carefully (including the date).
  15. Also: 3. If we weren't playing the third-hardest schedule in the country. http://sagarin.com/sports/cfsend.htm (Interestingly, #1 hardest is the team being coached by Frost's old boss Chip Kelly, which is off to a similarly rough start.)
  16. He already had more rushing attempts tonight than everyone else combined, and about half of the total rushing yardage. Washington and Ozigbo both had significantly more YPA, but Martinez had the longest run.
  17. Do you think we have the llamas to mackerel?
  18. I hate to say it, but this feels like a desperation move, trying anything they can to make the O-line suck less.
  19. He passed away this morning following complications relating to Sudden Loss Of Wanted Speed (SLOWS).
  20. Moos is the guy who ultimately decides this stuff, and he seems to be on board with the 'be patient and let things build' school of thought. IIRC it was his idea to give Frost a 7-year contract, not something Frost requested.
  21. I'd call that a poor record, although in this case some of it may have simply been a need to fill out the roster with whoever they could get.
  22. A juco guy is expected to be the starter right away. If he's not starter-grade, then you're better off just taking a guy coming out of high school to build long-term. Given that and the fact that he bailed so quickly when faced with a little adversity, yeah, we were better off without him.
