  1. Correct. Only Bama has done the same, but we got ours first. I think we're the winningest program since WW2. We might be the first program to fire a coach who never won less than 9 games every year as a HC. Theres a Joe Gibbs quote out there somewhere about Tom Osborne being the first coach to start pulling guards. Or at least thats who Gibbs said who he replicated.... Not sure how true, or if its true, if TO was the first to start pulling guards. Older fans might be able to shed more light on that? Maybe it was just one specific play? The walk-on program deserves a mention, if it hasn't already. We were the only team to beat Notre Dames "Four Horsemen", and we did it twice. The "Fumble-rooskie".
  2. Here is what a Buckeye fan looked up, to see the difference from Scout and Rivals. As well as go back a few more years, although he didn't want to get into 3*'s because it would take much longer to count. State Rivals------------Scout -------5*----4*----------5*-----4* MD 2010--0------9-----------0-------7 2011--1------4-----------1-------6 2012--1------6-----------3-------5 2013--2------7-----------2-------3 NJ 2010--0------3-----------1-------3 2011--0------9-----------1-------9 2012--1------6-----------1-------5 2013--0------9-----------0-------12 OH 2010--3------13-----------2-------13 2011--0------16-----------3-------14 2012--2------18-----------3-------18 2013--0------19-----------2-------23 PA 2010--1------10----------3-------12 2011--0------9-----------2-------8 2012--1------10----------2-------11 2013--2------8-----------3-------8 MI 2010--1------6-----------1-------7 2011--0------6-----------1-------8 2012--0------7-----------0-------10 2013--0------7-----------1-------8 IN 2010--0------5-----------1-------4 2011--0------3-----------1-------2 2012--1------2-----------2-------1 2013--1------6-----------1-------6 NE 2010--0------1-----------0-------1 2011--0------2-----------0-------1 2012--0------0-----------0-------0 2013--0------1-----------0-------2 IL 2010--1------7-----------1-------5 2011--0------8-----------0-------8 2012--0------9-----------2-------4 2013--2------5-----------2-------8 IA 2010--0------1-----------0-------0 2011--0------3-----------0-------0 2012--0------1-----------0-------1 2013--1------1-----------0-------1 MN 2010--0------3-----------1-------2 2011--0------0-----------0-------0 2012--0------1-----------0-------1 2013--0------2-----------0-------1 WI 2010--0------0-----------0-------0 2011--0------2-----------0-------1 2012--0------2-----------0-------2 2013--0------1-----------0-------1
  3. Here's what I looked up and posted on B10-forum that I was having a recruiting/talent discussion on. I was curious, so I went and looked up star-rankings by state over the past few years. I looked up the 2014, 2013, and 2012 seasons for what each B10 state produced, plus New York and Virginia. I used 24/7 Sports because thats the service I subscribe to, so there maybe some variation between Scout or Rivals, but overall I think it gives a fair perspective of what the annual talent level each state produces actually is.... The rankings for 2014 aren't complete, so the numbers are lower for each state, but overall the pattern is consistent. Also, I counted Indiana for both divisions in the "total" section. East Division: Ohio: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 23; 3* - 25 2013: 5* - 0; 4* - 20; 3* - 71 2012: 5* - 1; 4* - 18; 3* - 71 PA: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 10; 3* - 19 2013: 5* - 3; 4* - 10; 3* - 36 2012: 5* - 1; 4* - 12; 3* - 39 MD: 2014: 5* - 1; 4* - 7; 3* - 11 2013: 5* - 1; 4* - 10; 3* - 33 2012: 5* - 2; 4* - 10; 3* - 17 NJ: 2014: 5* - 1; 4* - 10; 3* - 12 2013: 5* - 0; 4* - 15; 3* - 31 2012: 5* - 1; 4* - 9; 3* - 37 MI: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 7; 3* - 4 2013: 5* - 0; 4* - 9; 3* - 25 2012: 5* - 0; 4* - 8; 3* - 30 Indiana: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 3; 3* - 7 2013: 5* - 2; 4* - 4; 3* - 21 2012: 5* - 1; 4* - 2; 3* - 29 VA: 2014: 5* - 3; 4* - 11; 3* - 8 2013: 5* - 2; 4* - 17; 3* - 31 2012: 5* - 1; 4* - 11; 3* - 33 NY: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 5; 3* - 5 2013: 5* - 0; 4* - 15; 3* - 18 2012: 5* - 0; 4* - 5; 3* - 13 West Divison: Illinois: 2014: 5* - 1; 4* - 10; 3* - 24 2013: 5* - 1; 4* - 9; 3* - 39 2012: 5* - 0; 4* - 8; 3* - 29 Indiana: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 3; 3* - 7 2013: 5* - 2; 4* - 4; 3* - 21 2012: 5* - 1; 4* - 2; 3* - 29 Wis: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 3; 3* - 1 2013: 5* - 0; 4* - 2; 3* - 10 2012: 5* - 0; 4* - 2; 3* - 0 Iowa: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 3; 3* - 0 2013: 5* - 0; 4* - 2; 3* - 10 2012: 5* - 0; 4* - 1; 3* - 8 Minn: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 1; 3* - 1 2013: 5* - 0; 4* - 0; 3* - 5 2012: 5* - 0; 4* - 0; 3* - 9 NE: 2014: 5* - 0; 4* - 0; 3* - 2 2013: 5* - 0; 4* - 3; 3* - 2 2012: 5* - 0; 4* - 0; 3* - 4 Total: East (w/out NY & VA): 5* - 14; 4* - 187; 3* - 518 East (w/NY & VA): 5* - 20; 4* - 251; 3* - 626 West: 5* - 5; 4* - 53; 3* - 201 So basically, every state in the east including the secondary markets of NY & VA produce better talent than every state in the west. [EDIT:] Only Illinios is better than what NY and VA produce.... When not counting NY & VA, the East doubles the production of the West's in every category. When counting NY & VA, the East more than triples the West's production.Going off of just these three years, it shows that Michigan would be 2nd to last, or last depending on how you slice it, in the East in producing talent. Ranking behind NY, NJ, MD, and VA. And only ahead of Indiana, but overall, they're at the same level as Indiana. Yet Indiana, who will be split between the divisions, ranks 2nd in the West. As would Michigan if that state was split. These numbers do not at all suggest the Western teams being able to compete with the Eastern teams for talent. Or being able to rebound from a poor coaching hire very quickly, if at all.
  4. This makes sense. But need to include Air Force as well. We're 1-1 against them.
  5. Yeah no kidding. The next thing you know, somebody's going to make an Excel spread-sheet.
  6. Red is a much more powerful color than all of those logo's though. And with as big as the logo is/will be, it is overpowering and even distracting imo. I think we could get away with having that large of a logo, but I think if we do, it should be the skinny N that is on the side of the football helmets.
  7. I didn't cry, I just had something in my eye. Im surprised Davidson wasn't crying on air.

    Dead

You must not have attended any games in 2007 (or any games against cream-puffs).... The way it looked on TV, it could've been quieter.
  9. Yep, its on the Husker game now, if you can't get ESPN3 to work.
  10. It maybe after the PSU v OSU game before it switches to the Huskers, but its better than nothing. I think Kram is a husker fan though, so it might switch over right away. [link redacted]
  11. I think a time capsule is a great idea. I think it would be cool to open a time capsule from 50 years ago this weekend, so I imagine in another 50 years it will be just as interesting to see whats in there. A team-autographed helmet or game-ball, a ticket stub, and Brady Hokes broken heart. Seems like a great idea.
  12. I havent' been to a game yet this season, but I've noticed that the color of our field looks worse on certain chanels, ie BTN. Our red looks much more 'purple-y' on BTN than it does on ESPN. It has somthing to do with the camera's/lighting/natural light, it never looks the way it does in person. Regardless, it needs replaced, and it should probably be painted every season too, to keep it fresh.
  13. Red(or white or black) towels could be a good replacement to the baloons actually. After a score everybody could just throw them in the air and catch another. That way we could do it for every score too. Its not near the effect of seeing the sky turn red, but still, its somthing.
  14. What a great way to start the season. Two sweeps and a really tough win, and learning experience, against one of the best teams in the nation. GBR!!!
  15. I don't think they're completely done for the year. I was out for a walk on Friday evening, and was about 1/2 a block from my front door, when I walked past a stone/rock cutting business. And they had about 15 pallets of cut-stone wrapped with surran-wrap, and had labels that said "UNL east stadium, section___[insert section # here]" on them -blew my mind-. Those palets are still there, but the way they sit, it makes me think they will be putting them up yet befor winter sets in. They're definitely ready for delivery. I'll keep ya'll updated, but if they don't do it this week, I could see them working on it during a bye week or the week of an away game. Its not the brick, but the lime-stone looking stone -it doesn't look like lime-stone when you walk up to it-. The ammount that is ready for delivery looks like it could cover one of those pillar/tower looking structurs. Or maybe finish what they have left on the patio-level (if that makes sense).
  16. What a great match so far. It would be an amazing start to the season if we can sweep UCLA.
  17. I like the water balloon idea. But its obvious to me that we need to go all out. Lets get water-balloons, bubble makers, soapsuds, gongs, fireworks, laserpointers(Dr. Evil laser pointers, none of that cheap crap), glow sticks, beachballs, you get the point. Lets start a rave up in that b for 2 minutes everygame.
  18. I agree the uni's suck, but Nike would not be any better. It'd probably be worse because we'd have to wear different uni's every year.
  19. If I ever meet Kenny Bell I hope he wearing his blue shirt.
  20. Yes. All sports. And all the uniforms are supposed to be designed allong the same theme; "reclaim the stripe"..... As far as Husker Uni's go, I am torn.... I think it can be fun and exciting. Recruiting purposes are legitimate, but really not that big of a deal imo. And Im a graphic designer, so the creative in me is excited for it....... But I get the feeling that Wisconsin will be wearing a uniform that looks closer to our traditional [road]uniforms than we will. And that will annoy the hell out of me.
  21. How can Rex not win the Heisman next season? The man can run with one leg tied behind his back for Pete's sake!
  22. And just after I post that, it starts working. Your on thin ice NCAA13. Thin ice...
