  1. Nothing spectacular for me. I played Football and Baseball. I wrestled and also threw shot and discus. My junior year was kind of the blossoming year where I became a starter on the football team, qualified for the state wrestling tournament. I would say the best game I played in would have to be playoffs vs Adams Central in football. We lost. It was a first round game. Had drawn a 7 seed with a 7-1 record (only loss to the State Runner up Boone Central) and a #9 or #10 ranking. Adams Central was like #5 I want to say. Wrestling in the state tournament though probably doesn't constitute a "game" but qualifying 2 years would be the highlights of my career. I never medaled though I had beaten multiple medalists. I generally don't like to count it but at Midwest Classic a month after the state tournament I pinned the Class A state champion from Kearney. That was fun, cool.....yet meaningless since it wasn't a school sponsored event. So I don't have anything impressive to fit this category. I've had way more highlights as a coach for 8 years than I did as a participant. We won a team title at my previous school in Class C wrestling a few years ago. That state tournament was super awesome/fun.
  2. Campbell does more with less! Duh! Just kidding, but seriously.
  3. I have never been so excited for a season to end. Oregon's basically done. NU is just waiting to fire Riley (thank god). I really want Frost to be the coach at NU. After that, I've got a handful of guys that I think would be great options but are more risky.

Why doesn't Oregon want Frost?  Everyone should want him.

Coach isn't talking about a new HC for Oregon.

Another guy that doesn't like me?

  4. Whats the real issue with the show cause penalty. I keep hearing that it's expired but keep hearing that it's also an issue. Which is it?
  5. I was thinking about Frost's comments about fulfilling a promise to UCF....
  6. After thinking and reading a bunch of responses the last few hours. I'm convinced (although unfounded) that the timing of the firing of SE is completely due to Scott Frost having a great start, and becoming the next hot name for a P5 offer. Bounds/Green probably went up to SE and said "look, here's the deal, you are going to contact UCF and Frost...and give him this offer." Shawn said No and so they canned him. They hire Moos and in the interview said the exact same thing. You want this job, you're going to go get Scott Frost for us. He said "ok, easy enough" and now here we are waiting for 5 weeks till the announcement of MR being fired, and another month+ for the announcement that Frost is our guy (if UCF gets to a new years six bowl) There's literally no one else. This was the plan from the get go, because the window is getting small on Frost. Had to go get him this year, even if they wanted to wait for another year.
  7. That was one of the better long posts I've actually read. I don't read many more that are that long but that one was interesting to read. Thanks! By this Pattern, Riley is awful at just about everything related to x's and o's...... So now NU is going to hire David Shaw!
  8. At this point I don’t want to see a strong finish because I don’t want there to be any argument to keeping MR
  9. I was in my A and K class at UNK when I heard the announcement. I also knew who he was. Didn’t have to use Google. My first 5 minutes of processing 1. Omg 2. Billy C version 2 3. Wait..... 4. Isn’t he the guy that always gets the “respected” label? 5. He had marginal success at Oregon State, this could be alright. Yeeesh
  10. I’ve heard Chip Kelly May ultimately be headed to UCLA. I also read that UF is in the mix for Frost. Which is not ideal for NU considering Frosts comments about recruiting and how he doesn’t like the travel to do it nationally.
  11. Ideally I would love to see a guy come in that runs a navy/New Mexico and Wisconsin/Stanford blended offense. GaTech is the proof you can’t just go full flexbone mode. I don’t know if that guy exists...but the closest guy to it is Troy Calhoun. I know NU isnt going there. Wish he’d get a look. My list after Frost 1. David Shaw 2. Troy Calhoun 3. New Mexico version of Bob Davie
  12. Ya with a true freshman QB who can’t throw and 14 other true freshman playing significant time. It was to be expected
  13. Maybe Jeff Bellar can step in and be interim. Norfolk Catholic looks to have their C1 title already in hand. He could be free. Sarcasm
  14. You gotta go get Frost before someone else does. Otherwise the cycle will continue as it has since 1999
  15. It's better to play an undefeated OSU than a 1 loss OSU. Impression is everything with the committee. OSU has that sense of urgency even when up 35-0
  16. Is Rimington going to do that as a stand in AD? Probably not.
  17. 1 scholarship per year for 3 years. He didn't have to clean up anything. Helfrich leaned heavily on Mariota being a phenom and talent around him. He couldn't bring in that same talent or develop any kind of qb. Attitudes got stale under Helfrich. Do some homework. You'll find the quotes from players.
  18. Oregon players had a “why” back then. Under Helfrich they lost their “why” and their “care”. Resulted in them going 4-8 and him getting canned. That’s what Riley is
  19. Since the Frank Solich firing, Iowa has 2 losing seasons. NU is on the verge of its 4th.

That tells you all you need to know. West Coast dudes responsible for all 4. Combined 7 Seasons, potentially 4 losing...That's unacceptable

Stability with a competent coach goes a long way

Wisconsin has three different coaches since 2012 and they're still competing for conference championships just about every year.  The stability comes from coaches who understand their system and how to maximize the talent they have on the roster.

I was listening one of our local sports folks on the radio yesterday and they said the same thing, Knap. Even though Wiscy has had different coaches their identity has remained the same. They play the same kind of football they played since Alverez (sp?) came there. When Frank was fired NU started losing their identity and it's been downhill ever since.

  20. This is why you have to have a vision, identity, and recruit hard working intrinsically motivated guys. I don't believe NU has a whole lot of those dudes. College football is full of emotion. Completely opposite of the NFL business model. Guys need to be excited to play football. This staff doesn't excite. It's been hammered out like crazy on this board but, I don't see a sincere love/pride for Nebraska football from football players. That's something that's going to have to be built again but with the right coach. Mike Riley isn't that coach....Scott Frost is.
  21. Well that's what happens when you line up the same over and over to try to stop and off tackle play. When you're OLB's aren't squeezing down gaps on kickout plays, its gunna be hard to stop in a 3-4 vs a double TE formation. That's kids not being put in the right position to win. Not the kids desire. That's bad coaching, and bad in game adjusting
  22. Someone tell me why us "run the ball" guys are wrong. Someone tell me that Wisconsin is wrong in doing that. 5th best record since 2014 in all of college football.
