  1. I'm gonna give Eichorst some credit for this. It's a big recruiting weekend, a lot of recruits taking in the atmosphere and campus. It can only help sell potential players to see TOBC taking in the game because it "is something he's always wanted to do". Spurrier has been to countless stadiums in the USA, but never Lincoln. He is a big time coach, that players recognize, and it will only help sell the uniqueness of NU football. I think Eichorst invited his friend to a game, but also realized the cache it might have with visitors.
  2. On Unsportsmanlike Conduct yesterday, one of their guests mentioned a national writer (can't remember his name). Anyway, the guest said the national guy believes there will be more than 25 openings at the end of the year. That is 20% of Div1 college football teams looking for a new coach... Did anyone else hear the segment and rembember the writer's name?
  3. GBR!!! I plan on recreating this video, play-by-play, using Husker highlights from MSU Sunday morning!
  4. I hope he is here in 5 years. If he is, it likely means he got this thing turned around. If he's not, then that means another coaching change and more delays until we are competing for conference championships again. I said the same about Pelini a couple of years ago. I and have the same feelings towards Riley. As long as he's the coach, he has my support. I hope he retires here, because that more than likely means good things have happened. I actually feel kind of bad for Riley in this drama, Eichorst and Perlman are doing there damndest to make a crappy situation even more awkward....

  6. My two interactions with Pelini, though brief, were actually quite pleasant... And I was wearing a Nebraska shirt in both instances. Bo Pelini is gone because of the way he handled his demeanor towards the end, he chose his actions and faced the consequences. However, I also believe Eichorst didn't help calm the waters at all. A simple and sincere "vote of confidence" in the closing weeks of 2013 would have done wonders for the team, recruiting, and Pelini. But Eichorst has this really strict rule about not commenting on coaches during the year.....
  7. I know there are a lot of things going on today with the press conference and Eichorst's letter, but does anyone know who the committment is that was picked up today?

Oh geezus, tongue in cheek. Not everything is so serious. Just wondering who the commit is, no one else has mentioned one...

Sorry, my tone was hard to register in my post.

  8. Heck, Illinois may have been a worse loss. But nothing is worse than the NU loss to KU under Callahan. That was the worst since devaney. Huskers were in the Top 15 last year and a few points shy of beating a very good Michigan St team and breaking the Top 10. One year ago. Have we already forgot? People forgot about that after two weeks. Nebraska made it's bed, now it has to lay in it.... I made the comments to a buddy, who really hated Pelini, after conversations if he should be fired or not. I didn't necessarily feel he should have been fired because it would leave Eichorst zero room for a bad hire. My buddy feels that Pelini would have the same record as Riley does now. This will never be proven one way or the other, but lets pretend he's right. If Pelini imploded this year, there would be zero argument for keeping him. Eichorst wanted to try to ride the small ripple of Pelini's momemtum and pulled the trigger. Eichorst gambled, and lost. Oh well.....
  9. No. Frank is way too old, and his recruiting was... not good. That's what I told him, but he insisted that I was crazy for thinking that. I just wanted to see how many would be in agreement. I agree, he 70/71 years old. However, if the football gods confirm that they will lift the curse brought on upon his firing, I'm all for it!
  10. Really hard to sift through "tongue-in-cheek" and "thoughtless" comments here anymore... Hopefully this was the former.
  11. I'm not asking for anyone to be fired. But regarding the bolded, no they haven't.... The line looked their best in the wins. Even looked solid against Minnesota. But you can go back to Miami of last year, Fresno State last year, and a handful of other wins (since we are only picking "certain points") to see that this line is the same as it was last year. I might even say less consistent this year, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because of a new system. True2, I like Riley, I hope he figures whatever he needs to out and is successful. But at the same time, this year's line is what it is: not very good. Hopefully Cavanaugh can figure out why.
  12. I'm a Husker fan, and a Dallas Cowboys fan. And my hobby of watching football really sucks this year! ......because I'm a fan.
  13. then I guess the sellout streak will come to an end Actually, there would be no more games to risk "not selling out". Therefore, the streak will last forever.
  14. Can't we just agree that NU needed better than Bo, and "at the moment" it appears to need someone better than Riley. A nickel may be worth more than a penny, but neither is going to buy you a candybar...
  15. I wish there was one , but........"no escape from reality..."
  16. I find it ironic that if Nebraska gets to a bowl this year at 5-7 it is literally because of Pelini. I have no idea if Riley's numbers are/or will be similar, hopefully so. But the rolling APR will be from Pelini. Nothing like throwing gasoline on a flaming pile of dog turds...
  17. Wrestling is one of the least expensive programs to run. It was also one of the most successful ones for UNO. I guess research trumped common sense, in this case. Yes, but wrestling and football weren't cut in a vacuum. I thought the problem was fitting the sports with the new conference and keeping Title IX in mind. If some women's sports went, so did men's. UNO wasn't cutting the hockey team nor the BB team with a move to Div I. The whole situation sucked, but like others have mentioned it had to be done. edit: Were any women sport's cut?
  18. Lol I agree! We had 3, easiest thing ever. Just like puppies, they pretty much take care of themselves at that point....
  19. 1982 Penn State Todd Blackledge, and a TE (or was it a WR?) with REALLY long toes....This would be a great bar/tail gate conversation assuming everyone was different ages! Disclaimer: Wiki game me Blackledge and who the champs were that year. Thinking about apologizing to Tommie Frazier now....
  20. (deleted) never mind...I'll just consider typing that theraputic, and leave it at that... +1 Walks
  21. I can't read twitter at work, Mav. Were these good news, or bad? Thanks
  22. If I wasn't one of the OP's +1, I must have missed the thread. I agree with the first post then, and now....
  23. I will plant an avacado garden if it makes these two feel better about Nebraska... Researching right now: "Siri: WTF is an avacado?"
