If we undergo a coaching change i would expect this to be the last few games for Abdullah and Mr. Gregory. If we have a coaching change and both these guys have high draft grades I would not be surprised if they both left this year. I wouldnt come back and risk it with a new coaching staff and a new system.

I said coming into this season that we should lose no more than 2 games. Anything worse than a 10-2 regular season should be considered an abject failure based on the schedule. That said, I also assumed we would lose 4 games, because that's what Bo Pelini does. There is no reason, at this point, to believe it will be any different if he is around next year. Coming into the season we had a 4 year starting qb and a loaded veteran offense. Now we are decimated by injury on offense and being carried by a young defense. It was supposed to be the other way around with our veteran O carrying our young D. Look at what Mizzou did last year with their Offense being loaded with injuries and look how they turned it around this year being healthy. I agree at the beginning of the year I thought we would not lose more than 2. But that has changed with the crazy amount of injuries our Offense has endured. THe future for this team is really bright. Lots of talent on defense and we are already grooming our freshmen qb for next year.

I would like to see us push the tempo offensively on Michigan on 3rd down to keep them out of their exotic blitz packages. I do not want to see what Armstrong looks like when Michigan has time to set their defense.

Ball+Space=Poor Tackling The game is played much differently now than it was back in the day. In a perfect world you could wrap and drive but in open field, that is rarely the case. Their is no such thing as a bad open field tackle. Just find a way to get him down. Wrap and drive is how you are taught to tackle in the box. On the perimeter it is all angles and just get the ball carrier down.

My son would cheer for the opposing team in basketball that I would be coaching against because he liked their color schemes. Kids are a bunch of traders.

Roach could have helped with one aspect of the game which is defend the run. You dont need to be very fast to defend power. He would have hurt in pass defense which we ask the Mike to do alot more than most teams. But our backers didnt do much of anything in the MInny game. You have to do something good. Either fill hard or cover. Our LBs did neither of those things last week. Compton wasnt athletic enough to fill the full role of our Mike and he was not too shabby of an athlete. Roach "possibly" could have helped against a team like Minny, but any team that uses quick personnel would have made him ineffective.

Different ways to teach tackling. Our coaches in college coached a sprint tackle where you ran with correct leverage and forced the issue to the ball carrier. You would never stop your feet while in pursuit. If you missed you had all 11 players running to the football with leverage and if the back broke your leverage he ran into another defenders lane. It is an attacking style that relies on getting hats to the football. Another style is the "shimmy" where you break your feet down and eye the defenders hips and tackle and run your feet. Different philosphies of tackling but can both be effective depending on your scheme and philosophy. And their is no such thing as bad open field tackle, just get the guy down.
